JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Shooting Star Lineage is a crossover fighting game released for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, and a spinoff of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga series.
Gameplay
Shooting Star Lineage uses a gameplay system inspired by, and closely resembling, that of Dragon Ball FighterZ; the game is a 3v3 fighting game where each player controls a team of characters. The game is a six-button fighter. Players can use Light Attacks (L), Medium Attacks (M), and Heavy Attacks (H), as well as special Star Actions (S) that are unique to each character, and two Assist buttons (A1 and A2) that call in their inactive fighters to attack. The goal is to deplete the health meters of all three enemies using a combination of regular attacks, special moves, and stylish Supers that can be executed at the cost of your team's "JoJolity" meter. JoJolity can also be spent on EX Specials, powered-up versions of standard special moves inputted using the Heavy Attack button.
The game also features a number of mechanics that all characters can take advantage of:
- Strike A Pose: While it may seem like a conventional taunt on the surface, holding the Pose for an extended period of time can generate JoJolity. Some characters can gain other benefits from Striking A Pose, too! It can be performed by pressing H+S.
- Overpower: A mighty punch that shatters the enemy's defense, knocking them backwards. Overpowers are effectively the game's version of traditional grabs, as a universal answer to guard. They're reliable, but have a fair bit of start-up and leave the user wide open if they miss.
- Golden Guard: Golden Guard is a special type of guard that can be performed at any time simply by holding 4S. It nullifies chip damage from all sources, pushes the enemy back farther when you block their attacks, and even reduces the user's blockstun by a couple frames, but it costs JoJolity to maintain. No JoJolity means no Golden Guard!
- Team Tandem: A technique that lets you call an ally in and "program" them with a set sequence of attacks to unleash, rather than having them just unleash a single preset attack. Team Tandem costs more JoJolity to use the longer an attack string you program, and can be interrupted before it's over if the ally is hit even once by an enemy attack, so be careful with when you use it! It can be performed by pressing either Assist button and S at the same time.

Easter Eggs
With how many bizarre abilities are showcased in Shooting Star Lineage, it's no surprise that there are character-specific interactions. Listed below are all of the special effects and resistances in the game.
- Some characters will be lightly pulled towards fighters that have been Magnetized by Mariah's Bastet, regardless of whether they're Magnetized are not, due to a significant quantity of metal on or inside their personage.
- Rudol von Stroheim is a cyborg, and thus is almost entirely made out of metal.
- Jean Pierre Polnareff (Part 5) is stuck in a metal wheelchair.
- DIO (Part 3) gains a bit of JoJolity from his Bloodthirst ability, in addition to blue health restoration, when attacking characters with Joestar blood - Jonathan Joestar, Joseph Joestar (Part 2), Jotaro Kujo, Joseph Joestar (Part 3), DIO (Part 3), Josuke Higashikata, Joseph + Shizuka Joestar, Giorno Giovanna, Jolyne Cujoh, and Weather Report. This benefit only occurs early on in the fight; after being triggered a few times, DIO will stop gaining extra JoJolity from these characters.
- Leone Abbacchio's Have Some Tea... attack's effectiveness is reduced against certain characters who are able to counter it in some way. When used against these characters, the Super move will not destroy any blue health. It will still deal damage and reduce their JoJolity.
- Giorno Giovanna can turn one of his teeth into a jellyfish to absorb all the "tea."
- Kars, in his Perfect Being form, can turn one of his teeth into a jellyfish to absorb all the "tea."
- N'Doul can separate water from the "tea" using Geb's water-manipulation powers.
- F.F. will drink anything at all as long as it replenishes her supply of water, and the "tea" will actually replenish some of her blue health when she drinks it!
- Kenzou drinks "tea" every morning anyway, believing it will give him good health... and it does! Drinking Abbacchio's "tea" will actually replenish some of his blue health!
- Narancia Ghirga's CO2 Radar ability's effectiveness is reduced against certain characters who are able to counter it in some way. When used against these characters, the radar ping will not trigger.
- Kars, in his Perfect Being form, does not need to breathe.
- Vanilla Ice is impossible to detect while inside of Cream's dimension of darkness.
- Bruno Bucciarati, after being revived by A Tiny Bit Of Fate, does not breathe.
- Conversely, Narancia Ghirga's CO2 Radar ability can also create radar pings for more abilities than just mere teleports when fighting against certain characters.
- Wamuu pings regularly while in his Wind Suit, making him easier to keep track of.
- When Shigechi uses the EX Special versions of Anything I Want or AnyONE I Want, it triggers a radar ping where the Harvest swarm will appear.
- Shizuka Joestar pings regularly while separated from Joseph, making her easier to keep track of.
- Air bubbles created by "Kosaku Kawajiri" ping regularly, making them easier to keep track of.
- Pannacotta Fugo's virus's effectiveness is reduced against certain characters who are immune to it, as long as they are on his team. When used against these characters, the virus doesn't deal any damage, but can still remove debuffs like normal.
- Giorno Giovanna vaccinated himself against the virus previously, granting himself an immunity to it.
- Any Sendo-user with at least one Ripple Charge can immediately eliminate the virus with the sunlight-esque power flowing through their body.
- Kars, in his Perfect Being form, is immune to any and all viral infections.
- Weather Report's The Devil's Rainbow attack's effectiveness is reduced against certain characters who are able to counter it in some way, as long as they are on his team. When used against these characters, the Super move will not turn them into a snail.
- Wamuu blinds himself after activating See The Wind, rendering him incapable of seeing the rainbow.
- N'Doul is blind, and thus incapable of seeing the rainbow.
- Rohan Kishibe can use his Stand ability to temporarily blind himself, rendering him incapable of seeing the rainbow.
- Bruno Bucciarati becomes blind after being revived by A Tiny Bit Of Fate, rendering him incapable of seeing the rainbow.
- Any character struck by N'Doul's Blindside Claw will be blinded for the remainder of the fight, rendering them incapable of seeing the rainbow.
- Any character struck by Josuke Higashkiata (Part 8)'s Detonate! will be blinded for a few seconds, rendering them incapable of seeing the rainbow.
Trivia
