Google Stadia 2, known in development as Project Stream 2, is a "cloud" gaming console developed by Google. It is the successor to the Google Stadia but features a radical new change; rather than featuring cloud streaming of games, the service instead only works with physical media. The main benefit is that special Stadia Cards can be purchased, with the same form-factor as a standard SD card, and inserted into any computer, from which games can be downloaded. The Stadia Card can then be inserted into the console and played like any other game on competing consoles.

Although the console does not natively use game streaming and, in fact, cannot download digital games in any form, Google has refered to the console as using "cloud" gaming, as it allows users to access a cloud service like Google Drive and download any games they own to a Stadia Card before inserting it into the console and playing it. The console does not have multiplayer functions as it cannot connect to the internet, although limited multiplayer can be achieved by downloading Multiplayer Action Packs onto your Stadia Card and inserting it, carrying over data about your opponent's moves to your console and allowing you to play in discrete chunks with other players.

The Google Stadia 2 was announced to follow the original Google Stadia after heavy criticism about game streaming thanks to a national internet blackout that lasted months, resulting in players being unable to use the service at all while still being charged; as a result, Google set out to find a way for players to play games without having to be connected to the internet, although the closest they could get still involved some internet access to download games. The Stadia 2 released to critical acclaim as reviewers praised its native 12k resolution as well as the ability to play offline and on the go from any TV.
