Gas Psychokinetics is a PC fighting game starring a small cast of 10 characters. The game focuses about users of “Psychic Gas”, a genetic ability allowing its users to do seemingly impossible things. Its users produce a special kind of gas from their bodies, which they can then manipulate to perform various tricks. This ranges from simple things like moving an item without touching it, to unleashing deadly thunderstorms in a specific area. Some characters can also make their psychic gas combust for extra deadly attacks. This gas has many uses, and therefore all 10 characters in the game use it differently.

The game is prequel to Sparkplug, making it part of that series. The main objective of the game was to develop the concept of Psychic Gas, as well as explore what the Sparkplug series is like outside Operative’s bases.

Gameplay[]

Gas Psychokinetics is a 2D fighting game taking inspiration from various other fighting games, most notably Pokkén Tournament. In most matches, which are 1 vs 1, both fighters must try to deplete the other fighter’s health. The amount of health varies depending on the character.

Fighters can move left or right, duck down, and jump. Said jumps are usually high enough to pass above an average-sized character. Most characters are unable to move while ducking, although there are a couple of exceptions. Of course, they are also able to attack with an attack button. Players can customize their attack configurations, although two configurations, one based on the WASD keys and one based on the Arrow keys, are suggested by default. Additionally, the game has game-pad support.

Each character has a “Physical” moveset with 4 moves, which are executed depending on the stance your character is taking; Neutral Attacks are executed by attacking while standing idly, Side Attacks are executed by attacking while moving left or right or while pressing the left and right keys, Down Attacks are executed by attacking while ducking or while pressing the ducking key, and finally, Up Attacks are executed by attacking while jumping or while pressing the Jump key.

The game’s main gimmick is the Psychic Bar, which fills up as you deal damage to enemies. Players can switch to a “Psychic” moveset, which works in a similar way to the Physical moveset, except it features wackier and usually stronger moves. However, as they use Psychic moves, the Psychic Bar depletes. The speed at which the Psychic Bar fills as well as its size varies on the fighter, with some having a bigger bar and others a smaller bar.

Characters are also able to dodge attacks, moving left or right doing so. However, other common moves like grabbing and shielding aren't present in Gas Psychokinetics, although most movesets include moves that simulate one of these.

Characters have an entrance animation, a winning animation and a losing animation. These are aesthetic and don't have any effect on gameplay.

Game Modes[]

Battle[]

The "standard" game mode. The goal here is to deplete the other fighter(s)'s health bar and survive. Stages in this mode are simple, and while most stages have gimmicks, they are also simple and predictable, in order to not interrupt competitive play too much. These modes are generally geared towards competitive players, although casual players are encouraged to try them out too. Players can either play locally or online in most variants of this game mode, with the exception of 1 vs 9.

1 vs 1[]

The most common type of battle. In this game mode, one player has to fight either another player or a CPU. In the case of a CPU, their AI's intelligence as well as their character can be chosen by the player. The goal is simple; get the other fighter's health to zero. Whoever reaches zero first loses, and the one remaining is declared the winner. A time limit can be set if desired.

2 vs 2[]

Similar to 1 vs 1, except there are two players in a team fighting two foes in another team. These teams are "Team Blue" and "Team Red". Friendly fire is turned off, and one can tell which team each player is in by an "aura" that appears around them; blue for "Team Blue" and red for "Team Red". Locally, one cannot play this mode with more two players, but one can fight with four players online. The goal is to deplete the health of both members of the other team. The team that stands last is the winning team. As with 1 vs 1, the player can choose the AI's intelligence and the characters they use. They can also set a time limit if desired. In online mode, the team colors are randomly chosen, but locally, players can choose which teams they can go on. A final alternate option for local play is to have one player teamed up with a CPU and the other player teamed up with the other CPU.

1 vs 9[]

A mode comparable to ARMS's Grand Prix, where the player must defeat all of the other characters one after the other, with each character being fought on their home stage. While the order in which they fight most characters is randomized, the final opponent is a buffed version of the player character's "rival". These buffs usually patch up the rival's weaknesses rather than amplifying their best aspects. In addition, they start out with half of their psychic bar already filled out. The player does not gets to face their own character.

  • Celeb Zyborh's rival is Imman Zyborh, who gets buffs to both his movement speed and his attack speed.
  • Sener Zyborh's rival is Lacyr Zight, who gets a big buff to her damage as well as a slight buff to her defenses.
  • Imman Zyborh's rival is Celeb Zyborh, who gets buffs to both his defense and health. He also acts more aggresively in general.
  • Orabella Jostley's rival is Farly Jostley, who gets buffs to her defense, health and physical damage.
  • Farly Jostley's rival is Orabella Jostley, who gets the ability to reload her Psychic Gas without having to take or block hits.
  • Sorce Wellson's rival is Pamel Wellson, who gets buffs to her movement speed and especially her attack speed.
  • Pamel Wellson's rival is Sorce Wellson, who gets overall buffs to her stats, being a balanced character.
  • Aorte Wellson's rival is Eolem Wellson, who gets buffs to his attack speed and his Psychic damage.
  • Eolem Wellson's rival is Aorte Wellson, who gets buffs to his movement speed as well as the speed at which his Psychic Bar reloads.
  • Lacyr Zight's rival is Sener Zyborh, who gets a bigger Psychic Bar and slight buffs to his defense.

2 vs 10[]

Similar to the 1 vs 9 game mode, but another player can join in locally or online. It is also shorter in general; players fight two different characters at once. The nature of the mode also means the players will encounter their own character. Finally, while they still fight a "rival" character, they have to fight two of them at once. If the two players are playing as the same character, whoever didn't appear yet will appear as the second rival instead.

Story[]

Each of the characters in the game has their own relatively short story mode. They include multiple cutscenes between several battles, some of which are team battles. There are also parts where the player makes their way through the Adventure versions of the stages, and most character get to fight some of the various Beasts in the game. Most stories conclude with a fight against an unique boss.

Boss Rematch[]

In order to spare players the hassle of going through the story mode all over again to fight their unique bosses again, after beating a character's story mode, you can fight any boss exclusive to it at will by selecting it in this unlockable mode.

Adventure[]

Unlike the Battle mode, fighting is not the main focus here. It is more platformer-based, and the player must make their way through longer versions of the stages with more gimmicks. Occasionally, they may face enemies in the stages. Most stages also force them to interact with objects in some way with their attacks in order to proceed. Unlike Battle, this mode is mainly made for casual players.

1P Adventure[]

One player can choose which character they use and can then go to the stage of their choosing, eventually completing it. There is little else to say about this sub-mode.

2P Adventure[]

Similar to 1P Adventure, except another player can join in. Player 1 is still the stage chooser. You can go online in this mode, in which case neither player is counted as "Player 1", meaning the leader player is chosen at random each round. Players are unable to damage each other in this mode.

4P Adventure[]

An online-exclusive mode in which four players can join to complete the stage. The stage the players go through is chosen at random, although the players can still choose which character they use. Like 2P Adventure, players cannot damage each other here.

Grand Adventure[]

An one-player mode where the lone player can choose their character, and must then go through all stages in the game, with the final stage being their Home Stage. Additionally, said Home Stage's Beast will show up at the very end of the stage, forcing players to fight a boss.

2P Grand Adventure[]

Similar to Grand Adventure, except another player can join in locally. This mode is not available for online play, however, being replaced with 4P Adventure. Player 1 gets priority over Player 2 for which stage and beast shows up at the end.

Beast Slayer[]

Beast Slayer is an unique mode in which the player must fight various bosses known as "Beasts". Each stage has its own beast, which has different attributes, attacks, ways to be defeated, and so on. These beasts are usually fought in the Battle version of the stages. The player loses the mode if the Beast knocks them out. More information on the beasts themselves can be found in the Beasts section.

2P Beast Slayer[]

This mode is almost identical to Beast Slayer, except two players can join in, instead of just one. One can also play this mode online. The beast's health is adjusted in this mode in order to account for the fact two players are attacking it instead of one.

Story Mode[]

Each character has its own short story mode involving multiple battles and cutscenes. Some of the stories interconnect, and some of them also tie in to events that happen in the Sparkplug series.

Celeb Zyborh's story[]

Celeb starts the story with a nightmare in which he loses a game of Tennis in a very humilating manner, against a generic "strong perfect guy", and in which he gets dragged into a hole. He wakes up and screams, waking up in turn Sener Zyborh, who is already in his regular clothes. Sener Zyborh tells Celeb to stop screaming when he wakes up, and jokes that he is the town's alarm.

Celeb then gets ready to go to a tennis court. Operative, who was already built back then, tries to warn Celeb about something happening in the tennis court, but Celeb runs off before the robot can finish his sentence. Outside his house, Celeb seems excited for a tennis tournament, but he then encounters a strange figure in a silvery suit with a design similar to Lacyr Zight's who asks him if he has seen someone wearing a "black suit with glowing red symbols". Celeb says that he didn't, and then points out he notices people who wear odd clothes, calling the figure "tin can". Said figure replies that they are not wearing casual clothes, and then asks Celeb if he is planning to go to the tennis court, which Celeb says yes to. They then tell Celeb to look at it, and he finds out a Beast, more precisely Heracles, is destroying it. Celeb asks the "tin can" for help, but they say they need to find who they are looking for. Celeb decides to deal with Heracles himself.

Celeb vs Heracles - Sport Court (Battle)

After taking care of Heracles, Celeb realises the tennis court is too damaged to be used, much to his chagrin. He exits the court and notices the "tin can" is still looking for someone. The "tin can" seems surprised that Celeb is alive; Celeb claims to not be an idiot. "Tin can" takes a jab as Celeb's obvious belief that the number Seven will bring him luck, with Celeb deciding to call "tin can" a "medieval knight" in return. Celeb then brags that he destroyed the Beast, claiming to have a magical ability, but before he can say what his ability is, "Tin can" identifies it as Psychic Gas, which shocks Celeb. "Tin can" then points out they're looking for a Psychic Gas user. Celeb decides to help "tin can" in their search. "Tin can", who is tired of being called that, introduces herself as "Silver of the Steel Sisters", a group of spies, although she clarifies that the Steel Sisters are not actually sisters. She also mentions the person she is looking for is called "Copper" and that she is also part of the Steel Sisters.

Sener Zyborh then walks by, asking Celeb why he is talking to a "strange robot". Silver says she is not a robot, and then points out guns are not for kids like Sener. Sener ignores Silver and mentions he has seen a cute girl wearing a suit. After a few questions from Silver, it turns out the cute girl is, in fact, Copper. Sener then says he'll go hit on the girl; Silver warns that he might get a bad surprise if he does so. Sener then goes off, presumably to hit on Copper anyways. Silver asks Celeb if he has to "put up with that creep everyday", and then they follow Sener. As Celeb thinks he'll become rich and famous, the two enter Sleet Backstreet, which is where Sener went. Celeb jokes that Sleet Backstreet is "where the spring season went this year".

Celeb + Silver - Sleet Backstreet (Adventure)

After getting through Sleet Backstreet, the duo meet Sener and Copper (who turns out to be Lacyr Zight). Sener attempts to hit on Lacyr, but before he can even say "cutie", Lacyr cuts him off and tells him she's not interested. Silver points out Sener did not have a chance to begin with, and Celeb tells his brother that he needs to stop hitting on every girl he sees. Sener starts getting mad as Silver and Lacyr start chasing eachother. The brothers prepare to fight, but before they can, Ares shows up. They decide to team together in order to take down the beast (much to Sener's chagrin, although Sener convinces himself he could salvage guns from it).

Celeb + Sener vs Ares - Sleet Backstreet (Battle)

After defeating Ares, it explodes, throwing Celeb and Sener in different directions (although Sener can be heard screaming "MY GUNS!"). Celeb lands near Silver, whose suit has been destroyed by Lacyr. Celeb makes sure that Silver is okay; Silver then points out Lacyr defeated her and then explains why she was looking for her; she is trying to exit her life as a member of the Steel Sisters, but her boss won't allow her to for a variety of reasons. Celeb then asks the spy what kind of people she spies: Silver then says that before having to track Copper, she was supposed to spy on Orabella Jostley. Celeb is shocked, as Orabella Jostley is his dad's assistant. Silver reveals this is how she knew Celeb was a Psychic Gas user. Celeb offers to do Silver's job in her place, but Silver then reveals she is aware of "nasty protocols" involving Celeb. Celeb gets mad and decides to go to Orabella's house. However, to reach her house, Celeb first has to get through Windmill Hills.

Celeb - Windmill Hill (Adventure)

Near the end of Windmill Hill, Celeb meets Farly Jostley, who is practising her incredibly strong Psychic Gas abilities. The two have a short conversation, introducing themselves to eachother, and they get along fairly well, although Celeb notices there is something off about Farly, as she seems far more mature than she should be for her age, and she casually mentions grim things like if it was no big deal. Celeb decides to drop off his egoist manners for a second, respecting the little girl enough to do so. However, the two kids suddenly get attacked by Demeter.

Celeb + Farly vs Demeter - Windmill Hill (Battle)

After Demeter is destroyed, Celeb and Farly continue their discussion. They eventually decide to go to Orabella's House; at first, Farly seems unsure, but then "something" sparks up in her and she agrees, with Celeb encouraging her to do so. When they enter the house, Celeb quickly notices something is quite wrong. Farly starts dropping hints that she gets verbally and psychologically abused, seemingly realising slowly but surely that her situation is not normal. Celeb decides that they should get out of the house, but Farly reveals to him a hidden passage with a miniature "train" in it. Farly tells Celeb that she was told to go there in case she was in "great danger", such as a fire. Farly points out that her mother, Orabella, seems to be obsessed with fires, and suspects something traumatic happened to her involving fires. After explaining how she knew about the passage, she tells Celeb that in order to get to the secret passage, they have to get through Ritual Hall.

Celeb + Farly - Ritual Hall (Adventure)

After getting through Ritual Hall, the two hop on the "secret train". Farly says the secret train leads to where Orabella works. Celeb is confused by this, as this would presumably be the Zyborh family's house. They get to the other end of the hidden passage and find a button that seemingly opens a door leading to wherever the hidden passage leads to. Farly points out that button was not there before. Celeb presses it anyways, and while the door does open, Celeb also starts having the feeling of being in an elevator. He goes through the door and finds out it is indeed his house. However, he quickly notices the house is, somehow, flying up. Celeb reacts with a "What the heck", as he attempts to find out what is happening. Suddenly, Orabella Jostley shows up, before surrounding Farly in Psychic Gas (preventing her from using her own psychic gas) and then moving her to another room, before dashing in said room. Celeb tries to chase her, but a beta version of Orbitius stands on his way.

Celeb vs Beta Orbitius - Electricity Facility (Battle)

Beta Orbitius fights like a slower, but much stronger version of Orabella with boss levels of health, but more predictable and telegraphed attacks. Additionally, Beta Orbitius does not have to deal with Psychic Gas reloading, being able to use Psychic Attacks at will. However, its attacks will still get faster and stronger as it gets hit.

After dealing with Beta Orbitius, Celeb finds out Orabella and Farly have gone missing while he was not there. He also finds out the room they went in was seemingly a dead end. Operative then walks in the room, with glowing yellowish-green eyes. He holds a strange machine, which he drops near Celeb. Celeb slowly backs away, but the machine suddenly grabs him as saws come out of it. The screen cuts to black as Celeb is heard screaming. When he wakes up, he looks around, having an odd mixture of pain and general discomfort. He then walks in front of a mirror and finds out he was turned into a cyborg; in other words, he became CeROBral.

Characters[]

Name/Title Description

Celeb Zyborh

Narcissistic Boy

Celeb Zyborh is a boy who recently became a teenager. He is the son of an inventor, and dreams of being rich and famous. "I will become rich and famous!" could even be considered his catchphrase. He thinks his name, Celeb, is an example of a sign that he will become popular. He's also a fan of tennis, and hopes becoming a tennis player in the future will make him as known as he dreams to be. Of course, he has access to Psychic Gas, and is actually impressively strong with it. Sadly, his main use of it is to cheat while playing tennis, hoping to impress other people with his "wins" and "cool tricks"...

Celeb Zyborh is a small and fast character whose moveset is inspired by tennis, with most of his moves being based on tennis moves in some way. While his Physical game is pretty tough to learn, it can be tricky to deal with, especially since it includes a reflecting attack in the form of Racket Swing. His true strength reveals itself in his Psychic game, which is full of strong attacks, including an unique grab move and the ability to buff his own stats. His Psychic Bar loads quickly and has a lot of space, meaning Celeb is able to land a lot of hits before it runs out. However, he is frailer than most characters, and when he isn't using his Psychic moveset, he is quite vulnerable to melee attacks.

Sener Zyborh

Sticks to his guns

Sener Zyborh is Celeb's older brother. He's kind of a manipulative guy, forcing his brother to do things even if he doesn't wants to. But despite this, he cares quite a lot for him. He dreams of being a police officer, but this may be because he wants access to more guns. Effectively, Sener Zyborh really loves guns. He has a collection of various kinds of guns, although Imman always checks on these guns and modifies them to make them harmless. He has access to Psychic Gas, like Celeb, and uses it to customize his guns and their bullets. He specializes in controlling metal.

Sener Zyborh is a middleweight character with a mostly ranged moveset where he uses a pair of dual gun to shoot bullets at foes. Using his Psychic Moveset, he can alter these guns so the amount of bullets they shoot double or so their power increases. His damage starts off pretty low, but as he buffs himself, he can become devastating. However, his Psychic Bar is rather small, and none of his psychic moves can actually damage foes. Additionally, his defenses, while not bad, could be better. He has decent mobility, especially with his Up Physical being him floating around with a Jetpack.

Imman Zyborh

Imagination leads to great things

Imman Zyborh is the father of Celeb and Sener. He is an inventor who may be a little bit crazy. He has access to Psychic Gas, which he uses as an energy source for various machines. He is part cyborg, having one leg, one arm and one of his eyes replaced by mechanical versions of them. He is intrigued by the mind and has made many machines that mess with the mind in some way, including sentient robots. He had a vision early on in his life, in which he saw human cyborgs cohabiting with sentient robots in a high-tech city. He works hard to make this vision come true.

Imman Zyborh is an unpredictable character with many different moves. While he is slow and heavy, he has moves that increase his mobility. He is also able to bring himself to other foes, and can even use a generator to fill his Psychic Bar without attacking. Said Psychic Bar is big, but it loads pretty slowly compared to other characters. His Psychic moves are generally electric-themed, most of which involve trapping foes in some way. All in all Imman is an annoying character to deal with, but he isn't flawless, having a big hitbox and attacking slowly, making him vulnerable to fast characters.

Orabella Jostley

Reverse Engineer

Orabella Jostley is Imman Zyborh's assistant, under the code name "Orbitius". She believes in various paranormal phenomenons, seeing Psychic Gas as a proof of their existence, and therefore makes studies in order to prove the existence of things like ghosts. Her home is quite the creepy place, being filled with various paranormal-related signs, with many glowing yellow lights. She claims to be helping Imman Zyborh because she is fascinated by his uses of Psychic Gas, but it's fairly obvious she has more sinister reasons. And she has a bigger role in her master's history than he thinks...

Orabella Jostley was not born with psychic gas, and had to make a machine attached to her back to "reverse-engineer" it. Unfortunately, it is flawed, so Orabella has to get close to attacks in order to absorb their user's Psychic Gas. Getting actually hit by the attacks will give the most Psychic Gas. Fortunately, Orabella has access to a heal in the form of Forbidden Fruit. Additionally, she has one of the strongest Psychic games, having devastating attacks and a large Psychic Bar that loads quickly when it does load. Besides these kinks, Orabella is a balanced heavyweight, being a bit slow but having nice defenses. Her Physical game is not horrible, as well.

For more detailed information about her, including her moveset, click here. For information about the character herself, click here.

Farly Jostley

Stolen Thunder

Farly Jostley is Orabella Jostley's mysterious daughter. Unlike Orabella, who cannot use Psychic Gas, Farly Jostley not only has Psychic Gas, but produces so much of it you can see a purple aura around herself most of the time. This gives her amazing abilities, which she occasionally experiments with. This is mostly visible in her home stage, Windmill Hills, where the weather conditions are out of whack. However, Orabella seems more focused on making Farly her successor; she constantly makes her read various books about the subjects she likes, and is implied to be verbally and psychologically abusive to her. She is therefore quiet and sad most of the time, and seems to have a poor opinion of herself.

Being a young girl, Farly Jostley seems like a joke character at first, having an horrible Physical game and terrible defenses. However, Farly Jostley has an absurdly strong Psychic game, surpassing even her mother's. She is able to teleport, summon arena-wide thunderstorms, create tsunamis out of thin air and even hurricanes. She is also quite fast. However, her Psychic Bar, while very large, doesn't loads that quickly, and most of her attacks consume quite a lot of it. Despite her flaws, however, she can be one of the deadliest character in the game once you master her.

Sorce Wellson

Spring to Action

Sorce Wellson is the youngest member of the Wellson family, a family known for including many diverse users of Psychic Gas, including what is said to be the very first Psychic Gas user. She has decided to specialize in various forms of Hydrokinesis (which is the manipulation of water using Psychic Gas in this game). In particular, she has taken up the art of "Dowsing". In order to do so, she uses her Psychic Gas to locate bodies of water, and then leads people to them. Personality-wise, she is an introvert, although she doesn't isolates herself from society either. She looks up to her big sister as a role model.

Sorce Wellson is a balanced character that isn't particularly strong at anything, but that doesn't have any crippling flaws either. She combines a Baston with Hydrokinesis, in order to fight foes. Her Physical moveset includes various melee attacks, while her Psychic moveset includes ranged moves and a shielding move. She has an average-sized Psychic Bar that also loads at an average pace. She is a good pick for beginners overall, having a simple but effective moveset and having a low learning curve.

For more detailed information about her, including her moveset, click here. For information about the character herself, click here.

Pamel Wellson

Force of Nature

Pamel Wellson is Sorce's big sister. She rarely visits her family, though, spending her time meditating in and protecting a strange jungle named Flora Terra. She claims to practise "palmistry"; but this is actually only a pun she made to reference the fact she grows palmtrees in her spare time. She's actually even more introverted than Sorce, although the latter isn't aware of this. She is very unlucky and unexperienced with advanced technology, and any such technology that gets in her hand is likely going to come back damaged in some way.

Pamel Wellson carries around a palmtree she calls "George", although she doesn't seems to care for it that much, since she uses it as a weapon for combat. This, along with a generally muscled build, gives her what is likely the deadliest Physical moveset, using her palmtree to attack foes in various painful ways. Her Psychic moveset, however, is a bit lackluster, although it does contain some neat ranged and approaching options. Her Psychic Bar loads quickly, but mostly because it is small. She actually moves at an average speed, but her attacks, as strong as they are, are some of the slowest to execute, making her vulnerable to more agile foes.

For more detailed information about her, including her moveset, click here. For information about the character herself, click here.

Aorte Wellson

Ready for Surgery?

Aorte Wellson is the father of Sorce and Pamel, although you wouldn't guess at first glance. He does not live close to nature, but rather, is a surgeon known for his ability to perform surgeries without even touching the patient. The truth, of course, is that he uses Psychic Gas to take out what he needs to remove, and to move what he needs to move. Some people suspect that he is doing fraud, but his powers are actually real, unlike most other "Psychic surgeons". He wears a turban at all times, which apparently hides glowing rainbow hair, although nobody has proven this yet.

Aorte is a tanky character who even has access to a heal. While he has few attacking moves, the ones he does have are very strong. He is also able to stun foes and boost his own stats. His moveset is doctor-based, using IV Poles, crutches and even defibrillators to fight. His Psychic Bar is average-sized, although it loads kinda slowly. Neither of his two movesets are better than the other, having a wide variety of moves in both. He is comparable to Imman Zyborh in that they are both unpredictable characters, but Aorte is tankier at the cost of being less mobile.

For more detailed information about him, including his moveset, click here. For information about the character himself, click here.

Eolem Wellson

Preserved History

Eolem stands out among the characters for not being a normal human, but rather, one who transferred his mind into a "golem". Therefore, he looks very different from the other characters, being a pile of rocks and jewels held together by visible Psychic Gas. His "spirit" is said to be the first recorded user of Psychic Gas. Despite being an ancient golem, however, Eolem is actually quite modern in his way of thinking, and would actually be better than Sorce and Pamel at using a computer if he had fingers. He is very well respected among the Wellson family, having gathered wisdom over time while not being oblivious to modern issues.

Eolem, similar to Aorte, is a very tanky character, having one of the highest Defense stats in the game. He is no slouch in fighting either, having access to many slow but powerful attacks in his Physical moveset, including a move that launches foes all the way to the edge of the arena in Battle! His Psychic moveset gives him access to a wider variety of moves, including a rock that leaves a magma puddle, the ability to shoot frozen rocks at foes slowing them down, and the ability to create temporary "wings" (although he still has poor mobility while flying).

For more detailed information about him, including his moveset, click here. For information about the character himself, click here.

Lacyr Zight

Laser Speed

Lacyr is kind of an oddity. She doesn't seems to have history with any of the other Psychic Gas-using families, and her parents did not have access to Psychic Gas. She seems to have gotten her own variety of Psychic Gas, with it having a few key differences. Anyways, Lacyr Zight is a spy who wears a full-body suit, both to conceal her identity and because she has low confidence about her body. The only part of her body one can see is her eyes and the skin around them, and this is only because she wears a red-tinted visor, with some people even mistaking her for a robot.

"Fast" is the best way to describe Lacyr's fighting style. She has the fastest moving speed, and she has very quick attacks, focusing on quick combos to defeat foes. Both of her movesets are filled with fast attacks, with her Psychic moveset also including a Counter move. Her Psychic Bar is rather small, but Lacyr attacks so quickly it'll load in no time anyways. Her Psychic Gas glows, unlike the regular varient of Psychic Gas, and Lacyr is able to manipulate it in order to create various types of lasers. Of note is that she has poor health, however, although her defenses are average. Also, while her combos can be very annoying to deal with, her attacks alone are quite weak.

Stages[]

Although they have the same general theme and aesthetic, stages are very different in Battle and Adventure modes, because the two modes have very different goals and mechanics.

Name Description
Sport Court

In Battle, Sport Court is a flat map with no gimmicks. Simple, pure fighting is all that takes place here. It looks like what you'd expect; a court with various lines representing various sports.

Sport Court is quite different in Adventure, being a gimmick stage where instead of getting to the end of the stage, you must "play" various sports, using your attacks to launch around the various balls and items. These sports are, in order: Hockey, Soccer and finally Basketball. You must launch the balls in goals found at the edges of the stage, with the item spawning in the middle. These sports get increasingly harder, with the map getting larger with each sport. Due to the gimmicky nature of the stage, no enemies spawn in it.
Sleet Backstreet

Sleet Backstreet's Battle variant is a flat map taking place in early Spring, at a time where there is still snow. It constantly rains, which causes the snow to slowly melt forming water puddles. Stepping on a water puddle will slow you down. The stage takes place near some buildings, with posters containing various references to other projects by Poisonshot.

In Adventure, Sleet Backstreet is not very different from Battle, being a flat map; however, players will occasionally encounter buildings and slippery ice patches. Additionally, a high amount of enemies spawn in it, being a more fighting-focused stage.
Electricity Facility Electricity Facility, in Battle, is another relatively flat map taking place in Imman's house. Various machines can be seen on the walls, but the main threat are three huge tesla coils. Each 10 seconds, one of the tesla coils will activate, electrifying everything around it. Players must move away from them, or else they will take damage. It will stay up for 5 seconds, after which the tesla coils will power down. And then after 10 seconds, another tesla coil will activate, and so on.
Adventure's variant of Electricity Facility takes place closer to the background, meaning you'll have to deal with the various machines. A good amount of robotic enemies will show up in the stage, and you'll have to make your way through a maze of gears, conveyor belts, and springs. Unlike most maps, there is actually vertical scrolling in this map; some springs will sent you high up to new sections.
Ritual Hall Ritual Hall is quite flat in Battle, but the floor seems rigged with conveyor belts; players will move either left or right automatically, with the direction changing about every seven seconds. It takes place in a dark hall with various creepy things nailed to the walls, often symbols of bad luck or demons. Most symbols with orbs or eyes in them have them glowing yellow. Evidently, Orabella's house is quite a creepy place!
Adventure makes Ritual Hall even spookier by covering the map in darkness, with the player and the glowing symbols being the only sources of light. Bottomless pits are also present, as well as disappearing platforms, which often combine to make annoying challenge. Characters with good jumping or flying moves can cheat these to an extent, but they will also have to deal with surprise attacks from Ritual Hall enemies.
Windmill Hills Windmill Hills is one of the least flat maps in Battle, consisting of three hills of randomized height. It takes place in a grassy field with windmills being visible in the background. The weather will change in the background, but this has no effect on the gameplay.
Windmill Hill in Adventure starts off rather peaceful, simply taking place in grassy fields with little enemies. However, as you progress, the map will get affected by various weather effects, and unlike Battle's variant of the map, the weathers actually have an effect on gameplay; Windy weather will push you in a bunch of directions, Rainy weather will create puddles to slow you down, and Snowy weathers will create piles of snow you have to break or jump above in order to progress.
Lapis Oasis Lapis Oasis, at least in Battle, takes place on a relatively small island in the middle of a beautiful oasis with many plants surrounding it. At the sides of the islands is water, which acts as a death pit in this map; so make sure to not get knocked in there! However, the sides of the arena are bouncier than other arenas; most likely to make Eolem's Eagle Punch not too overpowered (as it knocks players to whichever side Eolem is facing).
Lapis Oasis is more relaxing in Adventure mode, featuring a low amount of enemies, and water that isn't lethal (however, there is an oxygen meter, so don't sit in it for too long). It takes place around the oasis instead of on an island, so you can jump on palmtrees and various other plants to get to higher areas.
Flora Terra Flora Terra is another map that is less flat than usual in Battle, taking place in a mystical jungle nearly completely covered in plants with green glowing fruits on them. This gives everything a green tint. From the background, three large leaves you can jump through make platforms you can fight on. The ground itself, additionally, is a downward curve instead of being flat.
Adventure's version of Flora Terra is a very maze-like stage in which you have to make your way through the lush flora of the jungle. Many enemies, most of which are unique to Flora Terra, will ambush you from the various plants (with some of the plants even being enemies themselves). Like Electricity Facility, there is both horizontal and vertical scrolling in this map.
Crystal Hospital Crystal Hospital is one of the wackier Battle stages. There are two beds on the sides of the map; jump on them to bounce high. Additionally, on the higher walls of the map, crystals will reflect your projectile attacks once, making ranged fighting in the air part of the map dangerous. The map itself is inspired by both hospitals and fortune teller houses, being dark blue in color with various hospital equipment visible, except with a crystal twist.
Crystal Hospital is more or less a puzzle stage. The crystals and beds return, but this time, the crystals are used for various puzzles where you must make projectiles bounce on the crystals in order to activate switches. Enemies will spawn in these puzzle rooms constantly, meaning characters with weak ranged games still have a chance to complete the puzzles. Other puzzles simply involve switches and levers. Enemies appear in low frequency, although you shouldn't ignore them too much.
Chaotic Relic Chaotic Relic is not actually that chaotic in Battle. It features set of platforms you can jump through. These platforms will swap and move in favor of other platform configurations through the matches. These platform configurations are somewhat random, although they generally consist of between two to four platforms, and it is always symetrical. The map itself takes place on open-air ruins, with pillars with glowing magenta runes on them, as well as various boards seemingly depicting uses of Psychic Gas.
While Battle's version of Chaotic Relic may not perfectly live up to the name, Adventure's variant of Chaotic Relic certainly does. While the amount of enemies is fairly low, there are traps at every corner of the map. Some parts of the map take place in temples with ceiling, in which you will face traps like swinging spikeballs and boulders that drop from the ceiling. The open sections favor arrow traps and spinning platforms instead.
Splinter Bunker Splinter Bunker takes place in a mechanical place of sorts with many wooden structures, including wood walls with odd drill-like machines on them. In Battle, one of these machines will power up every 15 seconds, spraying damaging wood splinters all over the side of the map it is on, hence the name of the map. This rain of wood shards lasts for 5 seconds.
Splinter Bunker's Adventure variant shares the "Splinter Drills", but also adds conveyor belts and saws that move up and down. Additionally, some rooms will include turrets that will power up every 5 seconds. If a player is in a turret's vision, it will shoot a massive beam at said player. Other sections include cameras that will make swarms of enemies attack you if they spot you.

Beasts[]

Name Description

Heracles

Sport Court Beast

Heracles is an odd beast, being an amalgam of objects from various sports, twisted to form a vaguely-humanoid entity. Its head is an oversized basketball, with a glowing eye on each "rib". Said "ribs" are also able to open up to reveal a mouth. A upside-down shuttlecock serves as its torso, with baseball bats attached to eachother serving as "tentacles", having baseball gloves for hands. Tennis rackets are attached to the back of the shuttle's ball, serving as "wings".

Heracles is more of a melee fighter than a ranged fighter, although some of its attacks have fairly long range. It is, however, able to spray tennis balls at foes, launching them with its mouth. It can also use its mouth to bite foes. It can move from one side of the arena to another by using its wings, also dealing damage to any players in its path. It can also use its hands to crush foes by grabbing them, slamming them, and can even swing the tentacles wildly, dealing damage to nearby foes. Overall, stay away from Heracles and avoid its tennis balls, and you should be safe.

Ares

Sleet Backstreet Beast

Ares is essentially just a lot of guns. It is stationary, and consists of a machine with many, many, different kinds of guns attached. Ranging from rifles, to rocket launchers, to shotguns, nearly all of Ares is guns; even the basic shape of it looks similar to a gun!

While its inability to actually move may make it seem vulnerable, Ares has a lot of different tactics it can use to take down foes. Trying to attack it from above will lead to the victim getting blown away by bombs from a mortar ontop of its head. Otherwise, its attacks include shooting a grenade that explodes after a few seconds, often followed up by one of its other attacks. It can release bullets in various shooting styles; streams of bullets, vertical "waves" of bullets, fast and strong bullets shot one after the other, and so on. Of note is that these bullets can be destroyed. Another attack it has access to is a laser from a laser rifle; it charges a blast for a few seconds, aiming on the foe, and then shoots it; there is a split second where it stops aiming, however; thanksfully, since it deals massive damage if it hits. Of note is that the projectiles will make the slush on the ground scatter around, which slows players down if hit by it.

Zeus

Electricity Facility Beast

Zeus is composed of various scrapped creations made by Imman Zyborh. Its head is an analog clocks, with the numbers serving as "eyes"; although the specific numbers seem to change randomly. There is a magnet ontop of this head. Its torso looks similar to a printer, with wires popping from one side attached to a crane, forming an arm. Its other arm is composed of large pipes. Its legs are made of various gears, nuts and bolts, with one leg shorter than the other, giving Zeus a tilted look.

Zeus is unique in multiple ways. Instead of taking damage if hit anywhere, Zeus only takes damage if he is hit on the magnet ontop of his head, with said magnet being seemingly responsible for all these machines assembling into the beast. He also attacks in unconventional manners; he will "print" three types of origami foes to fight in his place; paper men that chase after players to slap them quickly, paper boat that will charge at the player, and paper plans that fly around the arena and swoop down at random interval. It is also able to launch balls of acid from its pipe arm, leaving acid puddles that disappear after a few second. Finally, it is able to use its wire/crane arm to take out the giant tesla coils from Electric Facility's background and use them to shoot thunderbolts at players. Overall, it is an unconventional and tricky boss to fight.

Hades

Ritual Hall Beast

Hades looks and acts like a shadow demon...let's hope Orabella didn't somehow summon an actual demon. It looks like a shadowy humanoid with horns, glowing yellow eyes and various yellow symbols over its torso. Its legs fuse together in a spiky shadow puddle, and it has hands with very long claws as well as pointed shoulders. It has spiky, almost demented-looking teeth.

While Hades has less health than most Beasts, it fights much faster than them. It can turn into an actual shadow to teleport around the map, and is unhittable while doing so. Additionally, while it lacks much ranged projectiles, it has access to many quick attacks. It can enlarge its mouth, giving it even more demented teeth, which allows it to bite nearby players. Additionally, its puddle-like lower body can expand into sharp spikes, and it can make these spikes appear while in its "Shadow Teleport" mode too. It can also expand its arms and slash at players using its long claws. All in all, Hades is a tricky Beast to deal with, but one that doesn't takes too long to be slain.

Demeter

Windmill Hills Beast

Demeter looks kind of silly compared to most Beasts. It is nearly entirely made of windmills and windmill parts. Its head, which is a short windmill with the sail being ontop of it instead of in front, has a large horizontal hole allowing three glowing eyes to see. Its body consists of an upside down windmill tower, alongside a wider one facing the correct direction forming what is supposed to evoke a dress. It has short feet, which are actually windmill towers too. Even its arms are windmill towers, with windmill sails in place of hands.

Demeter is the bulkiest of the Beasts and therefore the one that takes the longest to defeat. In order to prevent the fight from getting boring, Demeter therefore can summon three different weathers, with each weather having a different attack pattern. These are Stormy, Sunny and Snowy. It swaps to a random pattern after finishing one pattern, but will not repeat patterns.

In Stormy Mode, Demeter goes to one of the edges of the arena, and slowly walks forwards until it reaches the other edge. It starts attacking by shooting lightning blasts out of its "hands". Around midway into the arena, it shoots a huge electric beam. It will then spin its top sail to create thunderclouds that create thunderbolts at players trying to hide behind Demeter, after which it swaps weather.

In Sunny Mode, Demeter will float around the middle of the arena, and will make large beams rain out of the sky in a randomized pattern, with a warning before each beam strikes. This lasts for about 10 seconds before Demeter swaps to another attack pattern.

Finally, in Snowy Mode, Demeter starts attacking by making it rain snow, creating five small ice cubes. Demeter then jumps on each of these ice cube in a random order, jumping much higher than expected doing so. It will then go to one edge of the arena and spin to the other edge, releasing snowy dust from its hands. It will then swap to another mode.

Poseidon

Lapis Oasis Beast

Poseidon's body is mostly made out of water. He does not have legs, with his lower body consisting of dripping water; he floats around to move. While he seems to be eyeless, he has a mouth and what looks like a water beard. He is also armed with a golden trident, with most of his attacks focusing on this trident.

Poseidon is one of the more balanced beasts. His main gimmick is his progressive shrinking through the battle; as the player hits him, he will slowly shrink, making him faster and harder to hit. He has a lot of health, but has a weakness to Psychic moves, at the cost of resisting Physical moves. He can, obviously, try to impale players with his trident, but can also throw it at foes; and when it comes back to him, it will deal damage too, so players must be careful. Occasionally, he will go in the background or foreground; in both cases, he will become impossible to hit. He will then try to stab the player with his trident. Finally, he can rise up and then release a triple beam from his weapon that will hit most of the map; this can be avoided by either moving underneath him, or by jumping up at the edge of the map right before it hits.

Gaia

Flora Terra Beast

Gaia itself consists of a small glowing orb with round spikes coming out of it. However, it constantly surrounds itself by various flora it collects from Flora Terra's background. These include flowers, bushes, wood logs, coconuts and mushrooms.

Gaia itself has low health for a beast, but as it is surrounded by vegetation, players have to destroy said vegetation to reach the core. Of course, it can attract more vegetation, which makes matters a bit more complicated. It will launch or use the vegetation that forms it against the players. Wood logs are the most common "flora" and the attack consists of it simply launching the wood log at the player. Mushrooms (which technically aren't plants, but still) get squished to release poisonous spores to damage players. Coconuts are thrown on the player, similar to Wood logs, but they explode on contact with the ground. Flowers are launched at a random angle; their petals then launch into multiple directions, with each petal damaging players. Finally, Bushes behave similar to Flowers, except instead of launching the petals in various directions, they launch their leaves with the player as a target.

Apollo

Crystal Hospital Beast

Apollo is a rather tall beast with IV poles for legs, having six of them. These are attached to a large mechanical head composed of multiple mechanical parts, with a face ressembling a gas mask. Under the head is a large jet he can use to propel himself in the sky. He's said to have a surprisingly high sense of justice.

Apollo, compared to the other Beasts, abuses the gimmicks of its stage a lot more. He alternates between two "stances": one where he sits in the middle of the arena with his legs stretched, forcing players to bounce on the beds in the arena, as well as one where he moves to one of those beds, making it unusable temporarily. He alternates between the two stances by floating up and coming back down; players hit while he moves that way will take damage. He can shoot crystal-y smoke from his mouth like a flamethrower, as well as shoot crystals that bounce around the map diagonally for a decently long period of times. Finally, he will rarely face the screen and shoot massive beams from his eyes; players have to jump on the beds to avoid them, as jumping normally is generally not enough to dodge the laser.

Chaos

Chaotic Relic Beast

Chaos is an eerie beast similar in appearance to Eolem Wellson, but with a much more terrifying appearance; his rocky body is a darker grey and the crystals on it appear to be rubies. His head ressembles a demonic knight helmet, complete with glowing red eyes. His chest and arms also appears similar to knight armor, but he lacks legs like Eolem. However, his most noticeable feature are his crystal hand, which are clawed and constantly posed threateningly.

Chaos is a relatively simple beast with no particularly unique gimmicks. He has higher than average strength and defenses, but his attacks are rather slow and therefore not very hard to avoid. Occasionally, his eyes will glow brightly three times, complete with his head tilting with each "glow", and he will then summon three large ruby crystals which fall on the arena one after the other. He is also able to lunge his arm and hand forwards; if he hits someone during this lunge, he will grab them and drain some of their life force, which will also heal Chaos a bit. Besides that, he can use magic to throw multiple small crystals from the sky at foes, and he can summon rows of damage-dealing rock columns that have to be avoided by jumping. Overall, he has strong attacks, but they are for the most part easy to dodge.

Hermes

Splinter Bunker Beast

Hermes is a relatively large, vaguely spider-like robot. Unlike the other bosses, it is always crawling on the ceiling. Its body looks rather vulnerable, not being very armored and therefore exposing its machinery. However, it is filled with deadly devices. It is also unusually silent, being designed to attack unsuspecting foes and spy on threats to the Splinter Bunker.

Hermes's ability to crawl on the ceiling can make him a very annoying character to target, especially for more close-ranged fighters. It will occasionally drop down to lunge at players; this is when it is the most vulnerable, however, and while it is both fast and strong, it is relatively frail. It has the ability to shoot lasers from its eight eyes; it can either shoot multiple smaller lasers, or shoot two larger beams. Of course, being in Splinter Bunker, it is also able to automatically activate the drill-like machines in the stage before they can usually activate, and can use its own drill to release wood shards of its own. Finally, it can try to impale players with its legs; this deals less damage than swooping but leaves it less vulnerable.

Trivia[]

  • Gas Psychokinetics is named after Gas Kinetics, a kind of science, and Psychokinesis, one type of psychic ability. This name references the heavy focus on the Psychic Gas ability the characters have.
  • Each stage name is two words that rhyme, although not all rhymes are perfect.
  • Orabella Jostley is the only playable character whose first name is not a five-letter word. This references the fact she wasn't born as a Psychic Gas user, unlike the other characters.
