Foreman Spike is a retired character on Super Smash Stadium. He debuted alongside Wrecking Crew and made only 11 appearances, all in Season 2.
In his own universe[]
Spike was a jerk of a construction worker who constantly tried to hinder Mario and Luigi's jobs, probably so he could rake in the money for himself. This might explain why in a Japan-only Super NES sequel, Wrecking Crew '98, he bears more of a resemblance to Wario and explicity works for Bowser.
Attributes[]
Spike was a typical heavyweight of the time: slow but powerful. He could do some insane damage if he could land his Smash attacks...and that was the problem. Since his attacks were mostly slow and could be telegraphed from a mile away, he didn't see much success.
Spike was helped somewhat by the fact that shields didn't exist on SSS while he was active, as the game was still operating on NES specs...and that's what ultimately led to his retirement. The show upgraded to Super NES specs in April 1974, and shields, as well as dodges, were introduced to the game as a result of those upgrades. The staff felt that Spike wouldn't be able to handle the new mechanics, so out the door he went.
Changes[]
None.
Moveset[]
Entrance: Drove in on his bulldozer.
Move Name | Description |
---|---|
Neutral Special:
Hammer Whack |
Spike took out his hammer and began hitting people. Came out somewhat fast, but didn't do much damage. |
Up Special:
Spike Bomb |
Spike jumped up, then slammed back down. The slam made a small shockwave.
Killed at 115%. |
Down Special:
Dig |
Spike dug a hole to hide in. You could then press up to have him pop out. If he hit someone, they'd take moderate damage and knockback.
Killed at 195%. |
Final Smash: | Final Smashes didn't exist while Foreman Spike was active. |
Taunts[]
Taunts didn't exist while Foreman Spike was active. However, he was retired about two months before they debuted (April 15, 1974), and it's believed that a taunt was considered for him.
Victory[]
- Pose: Whacks his hammer twice.
- Theme: Team Mario's victory theme.
- "No Contest"/Loss Theme: Team Mario's loss theme.
Costumes[]
Alternate costumes didn't exist while Foreman Spike was active. That being said, alternate costumes debuted on or around April 15, 1974 (again, roughly two months after his final appearance), and it's believed that a costume was considered for him.
