It is extremely dangerous for Inklings to simply walk underneath them, so they need to be avoided at all costs. However, Inklings are able to safely walk on top of them and even ink their surface.
Appearance and behavior
Flooders can be described as metal circular platforms with a dark green base, supported by high stilted legs with wheels, so they can simultaneously spread ink and move around. They have two circular lights for eyes and a small mouth. While the lights are used to detect intruders, the mouth seems to be purely for decoration. They can move their "face" around to face the same direction as they're heading to.
Sometimes, an Octarian, usually an Octotrooper, is hitching a ride on a Flooder, but the Flooder may also carry a crate containing Power Eggs, or a Launchpad.
Flooders usually patrol a special area full of Octarian ink and many maze-like paths. They cannot leave this area, so even when they spot an Inkling, the Inkling can still get away. Flooders can only move in a straight line and can only turn 90 degrees. They typically halt to change direction when they either got the opportunity to do that or simply have no other choice. They choose their direction almost randomly.
