Super Smash Bros. 5 (commonly abbreviated as 'SSB5', or as 'SSBUDW') is the fifth and future game in the Super Smash Brothers franchise, and will be available on the Wii U, 3DS, and the new console known as the Wii XPlus. It is set to be released some time in mid-2016. The game will be published and developed by Nintendo, HAL Laboratory, Capcom, SEGA, and Hyperspace Games. It was first confirmed by Sakauri at E3 2015.
Compared to the other SSB games released so far, SSB5 has the most content and features. Every single fighter from the series so far returns, a long with lot's of newcomers. Since it's confirmation, it has become the most hyped game of 2015, and an official website was opened up to countdown the days until release. The website also has a suggestion board, so fans can suggest new ideas and features for the game. The game has three different names per console. On the Wii U it is named 'Super Smash Bros. Universe', on the 3DS it is named 'Super Smash Bros. Dimensions', and on the Wii XPlus it is named 'Super Smash Bros. Worlds'.
It has been confirmed that the game has been in the works ever since development for Super Smash Bros. 4 was winding down, despite the fact that an official confirmation towards the public was released over a year later.
Gameplay[]
Similar to it's predecessors, SSB5 is a 2D-style fighting action game. Players attempt to 'KO' others by attacking them and cause their percentage level to go higher. The higher the percentage is, the more likely the chance is to get a KO, unlike most fighting games, where the more you attack your opponent the more 'health' they lose. During battles, items can appear and be used to get an advantage or de-advantage over your opponent, however, these can be turned off before and after battles. The game also supports 'amiibo' functionality.
Modes[]

Story Mode[]
A returning feature from Super Smash Bros. Brawl is the return of a story mode. It wasn't complete by the time of game release, so it was instead released with DLC Pack 3. It is called 'The Dark Alliance', and has up to 200 levels. To view information on the story mode, please view this page.
Characters[]
Due to the many gaming companies working on the game, development went extremely quick. Because of this, fan service was the top priority. Many characters, both new and old, were added to add a great range of diversities to the table. The game has very few 'clone' characters contrary to popular belief.

Stages[]
Super Smash Bros. 5 has over a hundred fighting stages, with many returning from past games, and some that are entirely new. All stages have a 'Ω' form, which is basically the stage with no hazards or platforms, much like Final Destination.
