Malacoda is a playable character appearing in Doom Dome Battle. He primarily is a demon with secondary traits of an animal, namely being the guardian dog of the gates of the Underworld.
Description[]
Malacoda is a mute creature who is the guardian of the Gates of Hell. He is supposed to prevent anyone from getting to the surface, unless he was notified by it from his higher ups. Malacoda is tall, strong and intimidating with a strong authoritative presence. Despite this he is a caring individual who just wants to do his job right. He wears a mask at all times to hide his dog-like face, something he is ashamed of as it makes him look vulnerable.
Gameplay[]
Malacoda is one of the heaviest characters in the game and moves real slow. He delivers very strong punches and has a very high defense. He receives less knockback than other characters and his combo's are hard to break. His moves consist out of swinging his flaming machete and kicks but also include some faster attacks like his fire breath and crunches.
Malacoda removes his helmet revealing his canine face. He transforms into the the three-headed hellhound and pins the opponent with their claws against the ground. Malacoda's two outward heads roast the opponent with their fire breath, when depleting their health the middle head devours the upper part of the body.
Story[]
Doom Dome Battle[]
Malacoda's job is to guard the Gates of Hell. The first one to pass is Rokukai, who apparently slipped past him. The second one of Mephistopheles who asks him to make a trail that would lead to Rokukai, and he does. Then Barbatos arrives, a demon who isn't allowed to exit the Underworld, which thus ends up in a fight between them which Malacoda loses.
Angered by his defeat he decides to leave his post and get revenge on Barbatos. He encountered Maria Justice who saw the good in Malacoda and would help him with his quest to take revenge. They travel over the Surface and encounter Barbatos with Mai and engage in combat with them. Barbatos however plays a trumpet which puts Malacoda and Maria to sleep. They stay so until Yggdrasil descends from the sky and mentally destroys Maria leading to suicide because she told what real justice is. This leads to Malacoda fighting Yggdrasil, only to realize that the gates are still unguarded.
When he arrives in the Underworld he heads to the throne room where he sees Joshua, Amaya, Koh, Jamila and Jersey Devil along with his companions Mephistopheles and Barbatos. Malacoda engages into combat Joshua buts loses at the end. Paimon however recovers and throws all of them out.
Doom Dome Battle 2[]
Malacoda returns as a playable character in Doom Dome Battle 2.
Rokukai's Demon Bounty[]
Malacoda is a boss character in Rokukai's Demon Bounty, he appears only in the Stage 5 level: Gates of Hell. Rokukai and Seben have to escape the place in time before Lucifer finds out. When they reach the exit they are confronted by Malacoda who try to stop them from getting away. He is happy when he succeeds and sad when someone also has one it for them.

- Cerberus was removed from the character after the redesign, instead incorporating it in one character, thus still keeping the animal trait.
