“It's all right, Mallah. We will find a way to be together. And they will keep calling us evil. Let them call us names. Let them condemn us. They do not understand what we share, and therefore they will forever fear us.”
— The Brain to Monsieur Mallah – Teen Titans Vol. 3 #37 (August, 2006)
The man who would become known as the Brain started out as a French scientist who experimented in enhancing animal intelligence into sapience. He succeeded with a gorilla who he named Mallah, who became his personal assistant. However, another scientist, Niles Caulder, grew jealous of his counterpart's success and arranged an accident that nearly killed the scientist. Mallah managed to save his life, though only being able to save his brain by putting it inside a life support system. Angry and wanting revenge against Caulder for ruining his life, the Brain became the arch-nemesis of Caulder's team of superheroes called the Doom Patrol (who also gained their powers through accidents secretly orchestrated by Caulder), forming his own team with Mallah called the Brotherhood of Evil. The Brain & Monsieur Mallah are also notable are being both an interspecies and homosexual couple.
The Brain is an unlockable playable character of a crossover between Lego Batman (hence the title) and Lego Marvel. He and the Brotherhood of Evil are among the various supervillains hired by Hydra to help them take over the world. The team faces off against their old adversaries, the Doom Patrol, at their headquarters, but are defeated. The Brain is unlocked after the bonus level (A Fistful of More Doom) is completed.
