Super Smash Bros. Visions, is a crossover action fighting game for the Nintendo Switch. It is the sixth installment in the Super Smash Bros. series. This game is inspired from Super Smash Bros Something Else, Super Smash Bros Discord, Super Smash Bros Swansong, ETC. The game also marks the return of a proper story mode, the concept returning from Super Smash Bros. Brawl and the aforementioned Ultimate.
It also released an enhanced version called Super Smash Bros. Visions: Platinum Edition which has all the DLC and new characters, with expansion in the Story Mode.
Gameplay[]
Super Smash Bros. Visions uses elements from every past Smash Bros. game, ranging from the original on the Nintendo 64 all the way up to the jam-packed Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch. The game keeps the same gameplay style of the past entries: a 2.5D fighting game that mixes elements of competitive gaming and party games to make one extravagant package. You're able to duke it out in a multitude of ways: items or no items, chaotic stages or flat stages, live players or computer players, local matches or online matches, and so much more.
New Additions[]
- Battle Damage: When the player's fighter is very damaged (From 80% to beyond), the fighter has drastic changes, like: Fighter's bruised, Bandages, Loss of Armor, Loss of Clothes, Costume Breaks (In case of Neptunia Fighters), etc.
- Rivals: Borrowed from Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, the rivals mechanic can determinate which characters in 2-player battle can be detailed, also in rival battles the battle music changes to a certain music remembering their rivalry, for example: Mario vs. Bowser, music: King of the Koopas.
Multiplayer Modes[]
Versus: It is a multiplayer mode that enables players and/or computer players to fight against each other or in a variety of settings. Versus mode appears in all Super Smash Bros. games, albeit with different names in nearly every game. In Melee, it is called Melee. In Brawl, it is called Group. In SSB4 and Ultimate, it is called Smash. The characters can participate in a variety of battles, including Free-for-alls and team battles. Stages all have unique Omega forms, making them flat like Final Destination, have additional platforms like Battlefield, or be much larger like Big Battlefield, now it introduces a new stage form called Omicron Stages which makes platforms in random zones.
Special Smash: Is a term that refers to several types of versus modes available in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. You're able to set different options on or off, all of them affecting how fighters duke it out in matches.
Event Smash: Is a single-player mode found in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Event matches are challenges that place the player into specific scenarios with special conditions and a certain objective to meet, many of which pay homage to the characters and their history. Each game records the completion and "score" of each event match.
Squad Strike: Is a multiplayer mode in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that enables players to fight against each other with a squad of either 3 or 8 fighters. The mode can be played in three formats: Tag Team and Elimination, which both have the winner of each round stay in, ending when one squad eliminates all characters from the other, and Best Of, which has characters from both sides swap out each round, and ends after all 3 or 8 fixed matchups are played.
Single Player[]
Classic Mode: A 15-match series of challenges and fights between NPCs, target-smashing escapades, race to the finish stages, step to the platform stages, and a final fight between you and Glimmering Hand. Classic Mode, like Ultimate's, returns to the standard form seen in the first three entries and keeps the addition of set challenges for each playable fighter from Ultimate as well.
All-Star Smash: is a gameplay mode available in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Super Smash Bros. 4, that pits the player against every playable character in the game (other than Mii Fighters in Smash 4). The fights are separated into distinct rounds, and a rest area with a limited number of recovery items available between rounds. All-Star is replaced with All-Star Smash (under Mob Smash) in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Training: A mode that allows anyone to train against a static NPC fighter. The graph-like background from Ultimate returns, allowing for players to see the trajectory and angle of the outcome of their attacks along with accurate measurements and gridmarks on the stage.
Minigame Stadium: Minigames like Home Run, Break the Targets, Multi-Man Melee, and Board the Platforms have returned once again, giving the players endless hours of replayability. All of these can be played in multiplayer equivalents, allowing for double the fun. It introduces new minigames, like Trophy Tussle, Soccer Smash, Statue Destroyer, Volley Smashball and Ultimate Boss Arena.
Spirit Board: The Spirit Board from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate returns here, acting as one of the two main ways to earning Spirits. Unlike it's previous incarnation, the sections after a battle where you must shoot the Spirit to win is completely removed, meaning that once you beat the Spirit, the Spirit is yours for good until you decide to dismiss it or take it's core.
VR: Is a feature in Super Smash Bros. Visions that allows players to spectate and play single-player matches using the Nintendo Labo VR Goggles.
In addition to all of the modes listed above, another single player mode is introduced in this game, that being the Story Mode: War of the Cybernetech Gods.
