Super Smash Bros. Uproar (Baby Yoshi's Version) is going to be the fifth edition in the Super Smash Bros. (series) for the Wii U sequelling the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U. The game will include many new elements into the series, such as 3D environments for some of the battle stages. The game will have a total number of 135 playable characters.
Gameplay[]
Alternate Stage Forms[]
Along with the standard form of a stage and the Final Destination (Omega) form of the stage. There will be 3 other stage versions available to the players.
Battlefield Forms[]
Also known as Campus stages, the stages take the form of battlefield, but still retain the design of the standard form.
Giant Forms[]
Also known as Gigas stages, these stages are made to be more appropriate for 5-8 players.
3D Forms[]
A new addition to this game is the incorporation of 3D battlefields for the fighters to battle on. Although there may not be many of these, they will offer a new way for players to fight and also will allow players to master new styles that previous games didn't offer. They are also known as Kardo stages.
Assist Trophies[]
Assists Trophies now have a specific hue to them depending on their rarity of the assist trophy that will be revealed. The higher the colour up the list is, the more damage or the more effects it has.
- Purple/Blue - Very Common
- Dark Green/Light Green - Common
- Yellow/Orange - Rare
- Red/Pink - Very Rare
- White/Silver/Gold - Ultra Rare
Customisation[]
Final Smashes[]
Customisation this time around isn't just limited to the special moves. Final Smashes can, in some cases, be customised too. Such as Mario's Final Smashes for example. He could partake with his typical Final Smash, the Mario Finale from the two previous installments, or he could opt for one of two others. The first is the FLUDD Waterstorm, which covers the screen with a multitude of different water blasts, which can either knock back the opponents or damage them. The second is Flying Mario, which allows Mario to fly around the stage freely, as well as do increased amounts of damage to opponents. He also can't be knocked out in this form.
Special Moves[]
In this game, each character will have a variety different special moves, some of which have been made specifically for Smash Bros. For each of these special moves, there are certain variants that the player can choose. For instance, some of Mario's Side Special moves for this game are the Cape, Star Spin and Kuribo Ice Skate. Some moves have different varients such as the cape which has the Standard Cape, Shocking Cape, Gust Cape, Rapid Cape, Carpet Cape, Rigid Cape and Wrapping Cape as alternate moves.
Form Changes[]
In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, transformations were confirmed to be removed, so Samus and Zero Suit Samus and Zelda and Sheik were made into separate characters. It has been confirmed that for this version of Smash, that transformations will not return, however, some minor transformations do happen during matches, such as some characters transform via their final smashes such as Lucario, Bowser Jr., Midna and Tiki. Also, Inkling will transform from his/her human form to his/her squid form.
Wii U Gamepad[]
Although designed to fit a variety of different controllers, the Gamepad has been specifically adapted to provide more involvement. As such, some of the final smashes, if using the Wii U Gamepad, will require the Gamepad to be used, such as one of the Villager's Final Smashes - A Game of Chess, which requires the player to move the chess pieces around to defeat the opponents or one of Paper Mario's Final Smashes called Scissors, in which the player slashes across the Gamepad screen four times, indicating four scissor cuts, before Paper Mario follows these lines and cuts across the screen using the scissors. Despite that, for other controllers, the Gamepad-specific Final Smashes have been adapted for them, however they are less interactive.
Uproar Finale[]
An Uproar Finale is a highly powered Final Smash. It occurs when the player has 300% or more damage and unleashes their Final Smash. But, instead of unleashing their typical Final Smash, they will unleash an Uproar Finale. Typically, it will knock out any player who comes into contact with it, however it may also knock the player out. For instance, Mario's Uproar Finale is Magma Maelstrom, which covers the entire screen with flames and magma.
Unlockable Content[]
In this game, due to the extraordinary amount of random unlockable content, the chance of getting a duplicate trophy for instance is very low. Taking the trophies as an example, until the player has half of the trophies unlocked, there will be no random duplicate trophies available (excluding Classic/All-Star/Shop trophies as those are voluntary duplicates). Upon reaching 50%, there will now become a chance of getting a random duplicate. At a 50% collection, the player has a 10% chance to get a duplicate, 20% at 60% completion, 30% at 70% completion. 40% at 80% completion and 50% at 90%+ completion.
Stage Hazards[]
Just like in previous games, there will be stage hazards on numerous stages, such as Stage Bosses (the Yellow Devil on the Wily Castle stage), Enemies (the Flying Men on the Magicant stage) and Stage Features (the Shy Guy racers on the Figure-8 stage). However, in this game, there is the ability to change whether or not hazards will appear on the stage. Hazards can be simply switched off, certain hazards can be chosen to appear or the rate of appearance changed.

Modes[]
Classic Mode[]
Main Article: Super Smash Bros. Uproar (Baby Yoshi's Version)/Classic Mode
Endure 10 rounds of fighting and enjoyable mini-games. Each round the player gets to choose which path they choose and each path has a specific series in which the round will be themed around. In each run, there will be three general smash battles, one 5-8 player smash battle, two mini game rounds, one controlled event (e.g. Mr. Saturn smash, HP smash) and one giant or metal battle Master Hand and Crazy Hand must also be fought on the penultimate round and the final round is a trophy collection themed event. To compensate for all the characters in the game, the player can choose four characters, which will act as their lives for the rounds. Each round will allow the use of two characters and the following round the remaining two characters must be used. To obtain the trophy for all four characters, each character must be played as in each round. Co-op mode is available.
All-Star Mode[]
Main Article: Super Smash Bros. Uproar (Baby Yoshi's Version)/All-Star Mode
Battle against all of the playable characters in the game; all 121 of them (upon unlocking them all). Unlike previous games, the player has a variety of options in which to battle all the characters. Such as alphabetical order, smash debut order or the traditional game debut order. This mode will still be available if the player has not yet unlocked all the characters, however no achievements will be unlocked unless the player had all characters unlocked.
Smash Run[]
Main Article: Super Smash Bros. Uproar (Baby Yoshi's Version)/Smash Run
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, a new mode was introduced called Smash Run, even though it was a handheld only game, it is now available on this Wii U version. Most of the concepts are the same, such as collecting the power-ups in an expansive battlefield, and then going into a themed battle. However, there are plenty of new options that have been added to the game. For instance, they are now multiple battlefields to choose from and there are even more powers to equip than before. A new feature that has been added is that players can now attack other players to steal their power ups from them (however once a player has been attacked by another player, they are warped to another part of the battlefield to prevent the constant attacking of one player). There are new negative power-ups which can drastically change the way either the battle or the collecting of power ups is done. For instance, some can slowly deplete obtained power ups, whereas some can just take a handful of different or particular power ups away, and also some can prevent any or less power-ups from being collected or from appearing. Another thing, during the collection of the power-ups, there are certain Smash Run specific items that have been added, such as the Monster Pheromone, which will draw enemies toward you, and the ??? which will drive enemies away. The Fiend's Cauldon also appears on the battlefield, so players can store collected power-ups so they are not stolen, but they must go back and collect them before time runs out, else they won't be equipped.
Story Mode[]
Main Article: Super Smash Bros. Uproar (Baby Yoshi's Version)/Story Mode
Just like Super Smash Bros. Brawl the game will have a Story Mode. Within this mode, the players complete levels designed around a specific plot. The game will also include cutscenes just like the previous Story Mode, The Subspace Emissary. However, unlike The Subspace Emissary, the game won't take place in the World of Trophies, but a generic themed area named Nintendo Land, which includes some generic areas, but also some levels designed around areas from some of the games, such as the Mushroom Kingdom from the Super Mario Series and Patch Land from the Kirby Series. Not only that but stages that the players can fight on in game also become locations to explore in Story Mode with more hidden details and areas to explore, such as the Palace of Twilight from the The Legend of Zelda Series, which is found in the Twilight Realm portion of the game, and Sword Valley from the Xenoblade Series.
Also, like in The Subspace Emissary, bosses are fought in different locations, and as some stages appear during Story Mode, some of the Stage Bosses are also fought as full bosses.
Event Matches[]
Main Article: Super Smash Bros. Uproar (Baby Yoshi's Version)/Event Matches
Event Matches are predetermined battles that the player has the option to complete. Under most circumstances, the player's character and opposition are chosen for them, but in some cases these can be pre-chosen by the player. All of the events are split into 4 categories: Easy, Normal, Advanced and Intense. Each category represents the difficulty of the events within that section.
Also, there are also modes for co-op and group events. Co-op events require two players, and often similar to the single player event matches, where the players must complete certain challenges, such as perform certain moves or defeat certain opponents, the only difference is that two people are battling at the same time. Group events on the other are not that similar at all. On the surface they are the same, as certain tasks must be completed, such as defeat certain opponents. But the difference is, some of the players can take control of the opponents, and the players must battle the other players to win the event. Also, the co-op and group matches can also be done online.
Custom Events[]
Players can now create their own custom events. The player can choose from a variety of options such as the task, the difficulty, the characters, the stage, the items and much more. These events can be shared online, and if they are good enough can be set for weekly DLC.
Mini-Games[]
Main Article: Super Smash Bros. Uproar (Baby Yoshi's Version)/Mini Games
The Mini Games option is back and there are many to choose from, just as in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Some of the most notable one's are the Home Run Contest and Boss Battles.
Home Run Contest[]
In this Mini-Game, the player sees how far they can hit Sandbag from a set platform. The player has 10 seconds to rack up as much damage on Sandbag as they can, as this will increase the knockback damage and make Sandbag fly further. Depending on the distance, the player can unlock a variety of rewards, but mostly trophies.
Boss Battles[]
This Mini-Game will require the player to battle all of the bosses found within the game. Whether they be found on a stage or they are the bosses from the Story Mode of this game. If the player can complete it without dying, there are lots of rewards to earn.
Target Smash[]
Target Smash, also known as Break the Targets, is a well known Mini-Game from the original Super Smash Bros. Just like in the original Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee, each character will have their own Target Smash level, which will have each of the four difficulties within the game: Easy, Normal, Advanced and Intense. As the difficulty level increases, the stage becomes more complex, and the targets are put into more obscure and dangerous positions, along with that the time limit will slowly decrease as well. This mode is also found as a level in Classic Mode as well.
For each character, their designated Target Smash level will be themed around their home stage, so Paper Mario's will be themed around the Sticker Fest stage and Fox's will be themed around Sector Z. If the character has more than one homestage, the levels will be themed around a combination of them, or they will be based upon one or the other depending on which difficulty the player chooses.
Board the Platforms[]
Board the Platforms was a skill-based mini-game that only appeared in the original Super Smash Bros. In this version of the game, it plays very similarly to its previous form. The players must successfully jump onto all of the platforms found within the stage, which, just like Break the Targets is the homestage for each of the characters (read above for information about multiple homestages and multiple levels within one homestage). Also, there are only three level difficulties for each character being easy, normal and intense. This is also found as a level in Classic Mode.
Challenge Boards[]
The Challenge Boards are very similar to the ones found in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. 4. Within them, players can find a whole host of different tasks, ranging from easy to intense for them to try out. Completing these tasks will result in many rewards such as stages, trophies, power ups, stage builder equipment and much more. Each series, or group of series has there own specific board to complete.
Coin Launcher[]
Just as in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the player uses coins earnt within game to fire out of the coin launcher. During this mode, player can earn a variety of different things, such as trophies, power ups and even customisable moves for each of the characters.
Random Path[]
This mini-game is luck based. During the mini-game, the player must choose which path to go down, some lead to rewards, whereas others lead to a pitfalls and traps. There are many rewards that can be found here such as coins, power-ups, trophies, CD's and even customisable moves. However, the further the player goes the more paths for them to choose from, and if a pitfall or trap is found, all of the obtained items will be lost. However, good items can only be found further in.
Trophy Rush[]
In this mini-game the player has a set time limit to run around an area discovering trophies. The more coins inputted, the more time the player has to find the trophies. The more trophies found, the better rewards. Not only the found trophies kept, but customisable moves, CD's, stages and much more are rewarded. This mode is also found as the last stage in Classic Mode, so the more coins earnt within Classic Mode, the more time to find trophies and earn rewards.
Battle Challenger[]
Main Article: Super Smash Bros. Uproar (Baby Yoshi's Version)/Battle Challenge
The Battle Challenger, as the name suggests is a way to test the players skill, but to also have some fun at the same time. In this mode, there are many different challenges to try, such as some of the battles from the Stadium in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, like the Cruel Battle, the Endless Battle and the 100-Man Brawl, but also some new, themed challenges, such as Item Only Battle, where attacks will have no effects on the opponents, and Team Battle, where teammates battle alongside the player.
Stage Builder[]
Main Article: Super Smash Bros. Uproar (Baby Yoshi's Version)/Stage Builder
In this mode, the player can create their own custom stage from a variety of different parts. Compared to the Stage Builder in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, there are more parts for use, most of which are based upon the stages already found within the game and compared to Super Smash Bros. 4, there are more backgrounds and features, as well as more customisability with the Gamepad.
Collectibles[]
My Music[]
Main Article: Super Smash Bros. Uproar (Baby Yoshi's Version)/Music
My Music returns, and offers a complete range of different tracks to complement the stages being fought upon.
- Team Plasma Theme
- Zekrom/Reshiram Theme
- Stallord Battle Theme
- Koopa Cape - Mario Kart 7
- Luigi Mansion 2 Music
- Dark Pit Theme
- Dry Dry Desert Theme
- Gusty Garden Galaxy Theme
- Ghirahim Battle Theme
- Lunar Sanctum Theme
- Cloudtop Cruise Theme

Trophies[]
Main Article: Super Smash Bros. Uproar (Baby Yoshi's Version)/Trophies
Trophies are also found within the game, and can be unlocked in a variety of different ways, such as completing Mini-games and finding them within Story Mode, or completing certain challenges on the challenge boards. Just like in Super Smash Bros. 4, there are Trophy Boxes, but unlike said game, all trophies will be incorporated into a Trophy Box.
