Super Mario Splashers is a third-person Mario shooter developed with the assistance of Nightcap Devs. for the Nintendo Switch. This game is inspired by the Splatoon series.
Opening
It's a very hot day in the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario and co. can be seen relaxing and trying to find ways to cool themselves off. They then receive an invitation from Princess Peach. On the invitation, it says that Mario and co. are invited to a tournament Princess Peach is organizing. Mario and friends waste no time heading to the address if the letter.
Once they arrive there, they see Peach and Toadsworth in front of the stadium where the tournament is being held. Mario and co. then head to the lockers and change into their swimming outfits. Before the tournament can start however, Bowser hovers over the stadium with his airship and starts shooting water balls at them.
Bowser and his minions jump out of the airship and land in front of Mario and co. Bowser is mad that he and his minions weren't invited to the tournament. He pulls out his water gun and aims it at Mario. Mario then pulls out F.L.U.D.D. and aims it at Bowser. The two of them splash each other before cutting to the logo of the game.
Gameplay
This game is heavily inspired by the Splatoon series, since it was originally planned to be a Mario game. Every character comes equipped with their own water weapon to attack their enemies. There can be two teams of four members on the battlefield at once. In each team, there can be one Captain Character and three Teammates. A captain can use a normal weapon,a sub-weapon and a special attack. The special attack guage can be filled with coins, wich are scattered all across the battlefields.
Using your normal weapons and sub-weapons will drain your water supply. If you run out of water,You're supply will slowly fill back up. But if you want to fill it faster, you'll need to either mash the button to refill or jump into a body of water.
Like Splatoon, if you take too much damage from the opposite team, you will be splashed and will return to the spawn point after a few seconds. Unlike Splatoon,If you get hit by something, you'll lose HP and need to use an item to recover it.
