Fantendo Smash Bros. (series)

Fantendo Smash Bros., commonly abbreviated as FSB, is a crossover series starring original Fantendo characters and content.

The series is heavily based on Super Smash Bros., which uses a similar premise for Nintendo content. Many games outright clone the Smash series' gameplay, while others make gameplay changes and additions, or stray from the platform fighter style.

The first Fantendo Smash Bros. game was created by RedYoshi ^(t∣b∣c) in 2009. Since then, FSB has become strikingly popular among Fantendo series. Various users have created at least one project bearing the name every year, as of 2022. 2015 saw a record of at least 28 known games, with 2011 coming closest before it. A shared multiverse of continuities has even been developed, which is used to bridge specific entries and side projects together.

Fantendo Smash Bros. games are free to create, although permission usually must be sought for the content to be represented in the games.

As of December 2021, there have been over 1000 playable characters across all games in the series. The characters with the most playable appearances include Unten, McBoo, Pesh, 3.14, Leah Needlenam, Strafe, YoshiEgg Nook, Zerita, Ella Metals, and Volt.

Characters are sorted by their earliest playable appearance in the series. They should be moved if an earlier playable appearance is found.

Different forms and interpretations of the same character should be merged for convenience, especially if they are consistently alts of other characters. Exceptions may be made for many alternate-universe versions of Fantendo characters who are distinctly separate characters in several immediate elements, such as name, appearance, personality, or backstory. Due to the various continuities at play, a balance should be struck.

Bosses

A boss is a non-playable character that appears as a strong opponent in specific circumstances in one-player modes or on certain stages in multiplayer modes.

Most of the Fantendo Smash Bros. games have their own original bosses but few of them came from other Fantendo original games (mostly the Doomuli, Unten's "clone" -like Netnu, Fake Unten, or Reten-, or "The" deities from the Fantendoverses -Like The Enemy or The Threat-). As for now, in December 2021, only Ghroth the Harbinger, King Cube Kilobot, and Mistress of Weird made three or more appareances as Bosses across the series.

Assists

Assists are characters summoned during a fight to aid the user. This mechanic was first introduced in Fantendo Smash Bros. DS, using the same system as Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In the series, multiple items help to summon an Assist like the Assist Trophy, the Summoner Orb, or the Assist Pearl. In Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory, it is even possible to play as an Assist using the TAGOS system.

An impressive amount of different characters appeared as Assist through the FSB games. As for now, in December 2021, only Boare, Friday Blake, Muffin, and RedYoshi made three or more appareances as Assist across the series.

Gameplay

Inspired by the Super Smash Bros. series, characters fight against each other in a 2.5D environment, using special moves that are unique to a single character, and items that hail from many of Fantendo's series. Characters sustain damage, which is indicated by a percentage at the bottom of the screen. The higher the percentage means the character takes more knockback from attacks. To knock out a fighter, one must simply blast them off-screen.

Exclusive gameplay

• Chemistry mechanics: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Duel) Characters have different relationships to each other, whether a friendship or a rivalry. The more their chemistry is positive the less damage they can do to each other. During a match, two rivals can enter into a duel where all damages are doubled for a short period of time. On the other side, two friends can enter in an Alliance where they won't be able to damage each other for a short time.
• Tatics: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Tactics) Characters and stages have a direct influence to each other. A character can be stronger in a specific stage or make the stage crumble because he is too heavy.
• Character-specific items (Fantendo Smash Bros. Ignition)
• Smashopoly: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Revolution) To earn in-game coins, the players can play a Monopoly-like board game but instead of jail, or paying property, players must fight.
• Fantentag: (Fantendo Brawlers) A tag game within a battle. A designated "tagger" has to tag every other player in less than 5 minutes.
• Shattered Selection: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Shattered) A character can be selected a limited amount of times before their portrait broke making them unselectable. Their portrait will restore after 5 matches.
• Finisher Meter: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory) Player can fill up their Finisher Meter (by getting or giving hit) to execute their Finishing Move or to countering opponent's moves.
• TAGOS: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory) Switch your fighter once in-match with a weaker fighter.
• Erringear Moves: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory) All characters can learn up to three new moves.
• Breakers: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory) After the opponent has done over ten connecting attacks on a character this one can knock the opponent back.
• Move Staleness: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory) When the player performs the same move too many times in a row, the damage is lowering.
• Damage Boost: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory) When the player gets above 100% damage or if the opponent plays too defensively, the player gets a damage boost. In Fantendo Smash Bros. Destiny (erictom333) some fighters have more noticeable boost above a certain % damage, while others have none.
• Accessibility Options: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory) Color Blindness Filters, Audio Visuals, Blindness Cues.
• Equipment and Accessories (Fantendo Smash Bros. Omega)
• Codec Conversation: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Omega) If two opponents use Taunt at the same time they can engage in a conversation.
• Epoch Cross: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Epoch) When you select a character, you can give them another character-themed boost.
• Vital Limit: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Haymaker) Over a certain score of damage, when a character takes a hit that can be fatal, it has 8 seconds to complete a QTE. If the character succeeds, he won't fly away, if he loses or if it's the 6th time a fatal hit it will automatically lose the match.
• Speed: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Haymaker) Character can adjust their speed to make them faster or stronger.
• Weaving: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Haymaker) Dodge the attack by predicting the direction of an upcoming attack (low, mid or high). If you dodge at least one attack you can pull an "Infinity Weaving" allowing him to dodge most attacks for a brief amount of time. While you "Infinity Weave", you can use a powerful counter-attack.
• Stardust: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Starlight) To access to new forms with new moves (including a Super Move), characters must collect Stardust on the stage.
• Stage Morph: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Combat (erictom333)) If the option is enable, the stage can change in-match.
• Shield Counter: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Remix (Ragtag Refusal)) Pressing B while shielding will perform a counter move (or self-destruct move depending on the character).
• Kinetic Damage: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Destiny (erictom333)) Launched fighters can deal damage and knockback to other fighters they hit.
• Advanced Physics: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Destiny (erictom333)) When launched, fighters obey realistic physics: they are subject to gravity and air resistance. Also, how much a character bounces off of obstacles is determined by their speed and damage, and fighter. Finally, when fighters are in a helpless state, ragdoll physics (decreased air resistance) takes over and applies until the fighters get back up.
• Instant KO: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Destiny (erictom333)) Any fighter that takes 1000% damage is immediately KOed.
• Hyper Form : (Fantendo Smash Land) Any fighter can turn into their Hyper Form after breaking the Hyper Sphere. They can use this flying powerful 15-second form only once in a match.
• Soul Attacks: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Soul) The player can go into their Soul State after accumulating enough damage to go into their Soul State. The form vastly increases the character's stats and offers additional effects to special attacks. The disadvantages are an increased knockback and a hard to control enhanced speed.
• Daily Challenge: (Fantendo Smash Bros. Soul) Once per day, the player is given a particularly difficult battle against a CPU character(s) to complete withing the day with the offer of winning rare and hard-to-obtain rewards.

Items

An item is an object that either randomly appears on-stage during a match or is summoned by a character's special move, that can be picked up and used by characters. Many items can be wielded once picked up, while others apply an effect, and almost all can be thrown at opponents.

Some items are taken from a previous Fantendo game, from the Super Smash Bros. series, or are exclusive to the Fantendo Bros. series.

Finisher Sphere	The Finisher Sphere allows a character to use their Finisher Move, comparable to the Smash Ball unlocking a fighter's Final Smash in the Super Smash Bros. series. Bullet BoB	The Bullet of Brilliance (BoB) is a silver, small bullet, which can tear a wall apart with one shot. It is shot with a Bullet Bob Launcher that can contain up to 3 Bullet BoBs. First Appearance: Ella-Metals (Series); Fantendo Smash Bros. DS
Summoner Orb	The Summoner Orb summons a non-playable character to help in battle, like the Assist Trophy in the Super Smash Bros. series. In Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory, it became the TAGOS Token used to switch your character with another (weaker) one so you can play as them instead of just summon them. It also gets different names like Assist Pearls. Kotomo Bait	A variant of the Summoner Orb that only summons Kotomo once thrown on the ground as a bait for them. First Appearance: Kotomo; Fantendo Smash Bros. Destiny (erictom333) (as Kotomo Summoner Orb); Fantendo Smash Bros. Soul (as Kotomo Bait)
RedYoshi Egg	Similar to the Yoshi Egg in Mario Kart Double Dash, when thrown at someone, it breaks open and drops an item or explodes. First Appearance: Fantendo Smash Bros. DS
Warp Orb	Taken from the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series. Warp Orbs can be picked up and tossed at opponents, if they hit the opponents they will warp them off of the stage, usually resulting in a 1-hit K.O. First Appearance: Team Gemstones series†; Fantendo Smash Bros. Mercury
Foods	Similar to the Super Smash Bros. series, foods can be eaten by the player to restore some health. They change their appearance between games going to Berries, Fruit to the Untencake First Appearance: Fantendo Smash Bros. Mercury (as Berry and Fruit); Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory (as Untencake)
Rubbers Racer	When thrown, it will race around the stage. The Rubber Race (or Racing Rubber) will trap the opponent erasing the floor under them. The player who threw it will still be able to walk where it erased the stage. First Appearance: Hood'em-ario Kart.†; Fantendo Smash Bros. Universe
Wand	Among the FSB games, the Wands give different abilities to the player that picks them, and sometimes you don't know what will be the wand power until you use it. Corrupted Core	When hit enough times, they will explode and create an explosion that covers a huge part of the stage. First Appearance: Fantendo Smash Bros. Shattered
Chococherry	This fruit, once consumed, creates a duplicate of the user that mimics their actions. The player and their clone share the same damage percent. This item was first a Clone Melon, before becoming the Chococherry. First Appearance: Fantendo Smash Bros. Shattered (as Clone Melon); Super Bunea World (as Chococherry); Fantendo Smash Bros. Nil (as Chococherry)
Blump	Blump fruits give you a defensive boost when consumed. Depending on the color (the Glistening Blump being the strongest and rarest) it can cancel the damage of the next hit taken after consumption, boost your defensive stats, make you heavier. When thrown, they can explode setting the opponent on fire, shock them, or freeze them. First Appearance: Fissure; Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory
Blorp	Blorp vegetables poison the player for a brief period of time when consumed. They can also be carried and thrown at other players to slow them down for a brief period of time. First Appearance: Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory
Horns of a bull	When the player wear these, they gain a head-butt attack as well as negating attacks from above, which will just bounce off your character's head! They last only for a limited time before disappearing. First Appearance: BowieQuest 2: Degree in Origami; Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory
Pushies	Pushies are used to push opponents away for slight damage. The player can ride on them to float around as well, they vary in speed. First Appearance: Pusher's Pile; Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory
Bug Milk	Bug Milk shrinks the user who drinks it making them less strong but harder to hit and faster. First Appearance: Dark Wood; Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory
Kolorb-Ball	Similar to the Soccer Ball item from the Super Smash Bros. series. They can't be picked up, but attacking it will launch the ball in the direction of the attack. Depending on how strong the attack is, the farther and faster it is sent flying, and the stronger it is. Depending on the color, they can also spew magma, electrocute players, or, even, be grab and throw. First Appearance: Fantendo Smash Bros. Victory
Chocodices	When rolled, These two Chocodices cause a specific effect depending on how which number (2 to 12) they land. It either aids the user, hinders them, harms other players, etc. First Appearance: Super Bunea World; Fantendo Smash Bros. Nil
Keinz Coloured Ketchup	Bottles of ketchups with unusual colors corresponding to a Fantendoverse character on the bottle, drinking it will grant the user a random status effect like electrifying body, draining health,... First Appearance: FantendoQuest; Fantendo Smash Bros. Nil
Hell's Ramen	Similar to Superspicy Curry in the Super Smash Bros. series. When eaten, briefly gives the fighter that ate it an uncontrollable fireball breath. Rage Soda	As opposed to the Blump fruits, this soda gives you offensive and speed boosts when consumed. After being consumed, the empty can can be thrown as an explosive projectile. First Appearance: KillGames; Fantendo Smash Bros. Combat (erictom333)
Hypnoslimoo	A fruity Slimoo filled with a strange psychedelic chemical. When thrown, it momentarily reverses the controls of any fighters it hits. First Appearance: Untitled Community Fighting Game; Fantendo Smash Bros. Soul

Blaze Academy	A school for young mutants with strange powers most notably Mika Sho who possesses the mutant ability to summon and control fire by manipulating elements. Series: The Uncanny Adventures of Sunfire†
Chococarrot Charge	Incredibly bland looking plains stage at first, until platforms begin to rise up and swing around. There can be found a gigantic dinner table, a dumpy carnival and destroyed grey fortress where lives Liz Izzard with her drilling machine. Series: Super Bunea
Claire's Apartment	A smallish stage set in Claire MacBeth's apartment and roof. Since Claire is obsessed by extraterrestrials and their culture, there is a lot of artifact and articles about it around. Series: Mynisverse
Draconian Town	A stage is based of Hinata's memories of the last time she saw her hometown, Draconian Town, sometimes corrupted with trippy result by the sights of the massacre caused by the war. It features various fire pits and Doragon statues can be activated by hitting them to be used against their enemies. Series: Eternika

GrimeCorp Tower	The main base of operations for Doomulus Grime and his army of GrimeBots. It's a huge and mechanical castle. Series: That One Series With a Long and Uninteresting Name That I Do Not Wish to Remember
McBoo's Mansion	The stage with the most appareance through the Fantendo Smash Bros. series. A dark mansion where McBoo lives (haunts). Throughout the battle, Boos and McBoo's friends roam free. During a fight the Mansion could get completley destroyed, but it regens itself eventually. Sometimes, King Boo appears in the background. When it happens, the Boos and friends charge much quicker and more often. Series: McBoo
Micool's Castle Town	Micool's Castle Town is a fantasy medieval town where Micool lives. Hazards are in this stage such as Micool Guys and Giranha Plants coming to attack. Series: Micool
Middletown	A large city and David's home city. During a fight Middletown takes first takes place on the center of the city and over time it changes locations like Downtown, the rooftop of the Megamall, West Middletown, David's neighborhood, and the Park. Max Power's Green Spaceship arrives at times and one blast with a deadly green lazer. Series: David
New York City	The real life city of New York in the United State with the main location being Wall Street. Series: Real Life
Peaceful Plains	Usually the basic stage in Fantendo Smash Bros. games. Peaceful Plains, situated on Zeon, is a grassy and flat platform that reaches to both sides of the screen so nobody can fall. Three platforms in a triangular configuration float above the stage. Chief Dongorio will change things up by mixing up the platforms. Pushopolis	The little city where the Pouchets, like Pesh and Pashie live but also the living platforms the Pushies. Series: Pusher's Pile
RedYoshi's Island	A Tropical island which is RedYoshi's home land. The stage weather change being snowy, rainy, foggy or clear bringing various hazards. Sometimes ColoredYoshis and ColoredBirdos run randomally to the left or the right and they can take alot of damage to characters if one is ran over by them. Series: RedYoshi
Smilexia City Court	The home city of Bearded Smiley which he had to save from destruction when Uilee Tea attacked it with his army. The City Court is the center of the city, just above complex underground and where you can find Professor Rawser. Series: Bearded Smiley†
Treasure Town	It's the main city from the Team Gemstones series where you can find everything you need to continue your quest. It is inhabited by Pokémon in a Pokémon Dungeon way. Series: Team Gemstones†
VineVille	VineVille is the main hub world in the Ella-Metals series, the hometown of no ordinary citizens able to control objects depending on their last names. It was constructed on the remain of a strange meteorite which sprouts enormous vines helping the inhabitants in their industries. The meteorite at the center of the twon is always guarded. Western Forest	An old, dusty town, serving as the capital city of the Sunny Springs world. Most densely populated region of the teddy bears, the area looks surprisingly run-down with various building showing signs of old age. Like one could expect with any generic western-themed location. Zeon Ruins	This stage takes place on Unten's now destroyed home planet of Zeon by Doomulus Grime and his massive world-destroying drill.
