FORTUNE FURY 2K20 is the long-awaited sequel to the critically acclaimed one-on-one fighter by RoseRed, FORTUNE FURY 2K18, in which several billionaires fight it out for glory. While its predecessor was intended to be updated with occasional downloadable content through 2019, that plan was inevitably scrapped and remade into a completely new game. The title will release in 2020 for the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo DSGo, and Steam.

Gameplay[]

The gameplay of FORTUNE FURY 2K20 is inspired heavily by that of two-dimensional Dragon Ball Z fighting games such as Dragon Ball FighterZ. It also mimics elements from the Super Smash Bros. series such as much more simple controls for a fighting game. Characters' strength is determined by how much energy they have charged up, and as such their attacks are dependent on charging up energy. The characters' energy slowly increases as they are attacked, but it also may be recharged by manual input from the player.

Apart from energy, each character also has health. Simple enough, the character is defeated when their health runs out. Each character has an independent weight and speed and may have different benefits and hindrances based simply on their character. When a character has fully charged their energy gauge, they may do a finisher attack which does a great amount of damage on the opponent. However, finisher moves are hard to land and thus must be used strategically.

Moves[]

  • Ext3 0a0 or Ext3 0a2 - Attack - This is a simple attack such as a punch or a kick. This can be done in a combo by hitting the button in a rhythm, or can be charged up by holding the button. Regular attacks will do no knockback, but a charged attack will.
    • Ext3 0d1+Ext3 0a0 - Up Tilt - A stronger move that deals more damage and upward knockback.
    • Ext3 0d2+Ext3 0a0 - Down Tilt - A stronger move that deals more damage and downward knockback.
    • Ext3 0d6+Ext3 0a0 - Forward Tilt - A stronger move that deals more damage and forward knockpack.
  • Ext3 0a1 or Ext3 0a3 - Special - The neutral special is the same for every character: they will shoot a small projectile attack at their opponent which will take up a very small amount of the gauge. This attack is primarily done to stun the target shortly, as it does not deal much damage.
    • Ext3 0d1+Ext3 0a1 - Range Special - The range special is, as the name implies, ranged. Dodging a ranged attack is considerably easy, so these must of course be used strategically. Ranged specials are, for most characters, the strongest type of special.
    • Ext3 0d2+Ext3 0a1 - Buffer Special - Buffer specials do not do much damage. They do, however, have a great amount of knockback. The main purpose of the buffer special is to create distance between the player and the opponent.
    • Ext3 0d6+Ext3 0a1 - Rush Special - The rush special is the opposite of the buffer special. The purpose of this attack is to close the gap between the player and the opponent through a high-speed attack. This does a decent amount of damage and may be easy to avoid.
    • Ext3 0a4+Ext3 0a1 - Finisher - The finisher move intends to use the character's full power to unleash a very powerful attack on the opponent. This attack will vary greatly based on which character uses it. It is quite easy to dodge a finisher attack as well, so timing for this attack is crucial.
  • Ext3 0a4 or Ext3 0a5 - Recharge - This command will simply recharge the character's energy gauge as long as the button is held. The player may not move or use any type of attack while they are recharging, thus it is ideal to recharge when there is great distance between the player and opponent.
  • Ext3 0a6 - Grab - The player will grab the opponent which will stun them, then any type of attack may be used against them. Grabbing the opponent is quite difficult as it requires complete close contact with the opponent which could be risky for a long enough time.
  • Ext3 0a7 - Block - The player will block all attacks for as long as the button is held. This reduces damage taken by attacks by 90%. The player may not move or attack while they are blocking, but their block may easily be broken by a powerful enough attack.
  • Ext3 102 - Dodge - The player can dodge by moving the right stick in the direction of which they wish to dodge. The dodge is quite brief but the player cannot dodge again for another 2 seconds after they last dodged, unless said dodge was successful. Thus, dodges must be used strategically.

Assists[]

Assist Characters are the most notable change to the gameplay formula in FORTUNE FURY 2K20. In all battle modes (unless assists are turned off in the options menu), both players must choose three Assist Characters before the battle begins. Each Assist Character has a single powerful move that they will use in battle, and will be summoned when the player presses Ext3 0a4 or Ext3 0a5 and a direction on Ext3 0d0 corresponding to one of their Assists. In Campaign Mode, the player begins with no Assist Characters and they will be recruited throughout a game.

Modes[]

Versus[]

Versus Mode is the very basic multiplayer fighting mode. The player can choose any character and any stage and simply fight it out. This can be played with either local or online multiplayer. Versus mode can be played as a simple 1-on-1 fighting mode or using tag team mode. Tag team mode allows the player to choose 4 characters to be on a team who can be tagged in or out. A tag team game ends when all of one player's characters have been defeated.

Campaign[]

NOTE: The Campaign mode is to be majorly revamped in FORTUNE FURY 2K20. Below is the description from 2K18.

Campaign Mode is the main story mode for FORTUNE FURY 2K20. In this story, the billionaire of the player's choice wishes to accumulate enough wealth to become the single richest person alive. They set out on a quest to do so through campaigning across the world and laying the roots for businesses in various locations. However, other billionaires seem to have the same idea and are completely willing to use violence to defend their territory. Thus, the billionaire the player controls must defeat all of the other billionaires in battle in order to be the One True Wealthiest Person Alive.

The campaign mode functions like a board game similar to Smash Tour in Super Smash Bros. 4 but mainly draws inspiration from Monopoly. At the beginning of the turn, all of the billionaires on the board roll a dice from 1-10. The player will move across the board however many spaces they roll. When they land on a space, they have the option of setting up a factory here. Factories are specialized; they will accumulate wealth for a player but they will also increase a single stat of a player. Other billionaires can set up factories on the same space as other billionaires, and the more money that is invested in each factory will translate into other players' factories decreasing in size.

There are eight players in each campaign mode game. If a player crosses paths with another player on the board, they will both be stopped in their tracks and go to battle at the end of the turn. If a player does not cross paths with another, they will simply fight a generic opponent at the end of the turn. If a player is defeated three times, they are out of the game. When a player is defeated, the players that contributed to their defeat will inherit a portion of their wealth. The goal of the game is to be the last player standing. When there are only two players remaining, regardless of how many times they have lost, they will have one final battle against each other. Whoever wins this battle is the ultimate victor of the game.

Campaign Mode may be played through multiplayer online, but not locally.

Lobbyists[]

Throughout the course of a campaign, various types of activists will gradually spring up and rally against the billionaires. The federal government, at this point, can place heavy regulations on their business practices if the rallying crowd becomes large enough. In the game, this translates to the decreasing of the player's stats. The best way to avoid this is to invest in lobbyists. This can be done at the start of every turn and will cost a percentage of the player's fortune. Once done, these lobbyists will funnel your money into politics and either slow or prevent legislation from being passed. However, since, the lobbying business is quite shady, some lobbyists will take much or all of the fortune for themselves. Thus, the player has to gauge their benefits versus their losses when investing in potential lobbyists.

Revolts[]

Slowly but surely, the exploited denizens of the places players have placed their factories upon will grow tired of it. Revolts will spring up periodically throughout the game, and they can only be quelled by expending huge sums of money to silence them. However, they can also be stopped if two or more billionaires cooperate to fight the revolutionaries. As more players are removed from the game, revolts grow more and more likely. When only two players remain, the game enters "permanent revolution" mode.

Revolts at a factory will prevent a player from gaining any benefits from the factory in question. If a revolt is not silenced, they will easily spread to bordering factories. If a battle between two billionaires takes place at a location in rebellion, they will take twice the environmental damage from stage obstacles. Furthermore, the battle timer will be turned on, to 100 seconds.

Characters[]

NOTE: This section is to be updated as new characters are revealed.

FORTUNE FURY 2K20 will include many fighters introduced in its predecessor alongside many completely new fighters. The roster includes some of the richest people in the world alongside many other recognizable wealthy figures.

Veterans[]

Jeff Bezos 2k20 Jeff Bezos

Jeff? He's back in action, kids. The one guy you couldn't forget, with more money than many nations-- this guy's the richest person on the planet. In fact, he probably has more political power than most nations, too. A few decades ago, Jeffory showed that men can do it too-- he gave birth. He called this baby Amazon and it soon grew to be among the most penetrative companies on this planet. Jeff soon earned hundreds of billions of dollars off of this company, and nobody really is allowed to ask how he got so much money off of it despite the huge number of workers he has to pay. Anyway...

Bill Gates 2k20 Bill Gates

Bill Gates used to be the richest person on the planet, but now people only remember him as "the dude who made computers or something." Just as before, Bill is on a quest for revenge. He wishes to reclaim the title of the richest man on the earth, and will not hesitate to throw a punch or two. It is definitely worth noting that this guy made the computer interface used by about 80% of all Internet users, which is a pretty big deal. But don't you think there's some kind of ethical implication to one huge corporation having that much control to access of information? No? Well, one time Bill Gates jumped over a chair which was pretty dang sick.

Zuck 2k20 Mark Zuckerberg

If you look up "fallen from grace" on Dictionary.com, you will see a picture of Mark Zuckerberg. This guy invented Facebook, which very quickly became the most popular site on the Internet. Later, though, people got bored of it and moved on to more interesting sites like Instagram, which Zuck also conveniently owns. In a recent breach of privacy, it was revealed that Mr. Zuck himself has a drawer in his nightstand with all of your personal information in it. Your nudes are probably in there too. When that happened, Facebook lost the very last ounce of userbase that it had. This dude still has a metric ton of money though and got off totally scot-free!

Koch Brothers 2k20 Koch Brothers

Following the death of his brother, Charles Koch thought that he was alone in the struggle for wealth and power. Now he communicates with his brother using a Ouija board, and in battle he fights by summoning David through said board. During their height of fame and power, the Koch Brothers were known for donating millions upon millions of dollars to the Republican Party, in a practice that we're not legally allowed to call bribing. The spectre of David Koch has been known to haunt the dreams of the global poor, and can inflict periodic damage to opposing fighters.

Elon Musk 2k20 Elon Musk

Your boy Elon here is the cool billionaire. Young, hip, sexy, and quite a bit nerdy. He's the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, and fights with rocket-based attacks. This guy? I could chill with him. He's just a cool guy all around. Elon is awesome. Remember when he called a dude a pedophile after the guy helped saved those kids trapped in the cave in Thailand? That was seriously awesome. Remember when he smoked weed on camera despite that his very own workers would likely be fired for doing the same? Incredible. Remember when he didn't let his workers unionize and tried to bribe them with frozen yogurt? EPIC!

Notch 2k20 Notch

One day, Notch felt like making Minecraft, so he did it. It made hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue, and eventually Bill Gates himself bought the property for a couple billion dollars. Since then, Notch has been chilling in his mega-mansion posting the world's worst takes on Twitter.com, just short of saying "the Jews." He joined the battle not for any moral reason but because he kinda just wanted to punch some "social justice warriors." Despite that, most of the other competitors don't really feel comfortable touching his greasy, oily skin.

Warren Buffett 2k20 Warren Buffett

Oh, great veteran of the Class War, we salute you. Thank you for your service, Chairman Buffett. This man is responsible for the megacorporation Berkshire Hathaway, a multinational conglomerate that made him the third richest person in the world. But this guy, he's one of the good ones. He admitted once that the rich are cheating the poor, then did absolutely nothing about it. Cool guy here. He has joined the battle on the side of the working class to destroy the wealthy class. His background fighting in the Class War gives him great experience in battle, too.

Oprah 2k20 Oprah Winfrey

Oprah is here to bring the bees! Oprah Winfrey, the forty-fifth-point-fifth president of the United States, returns to battle. This woman is popular for her advice or psychology talk show that she hosted for decades. Born to poverty, she's now a humble billionaire promoting the world's tamest self-help advice! That's inspiring. If you want to be happy, just follow this advice, and ignore the billions of dollars that she's hiding away somewhere. Oprah fights using self-help techniques for which she has vouched in her many advice shows, and also bees.

Rupertm Rupert Murdoch

Rupert is the only surviving dodo specimen. Australian at heart, the man moved to the U.S. where he saw his dream of controlling the media much more possible. And as the American dream proved to be true, Murdoch is now effectively the owner of right-wing news worldwide such as Fox News, The Sun, Wall Street Journal, and more. Some people claim that one man controlling many media outlets is proof that there's no variety of viewpoint in reporting. Have they ever considered that Rupert just has many different brains? That's how he attacks.

Michael Bloomberg 2k20 Michael Bloomberg

Bloomberg, eternal president of the United States (sharing this position with several other fighters), has returned to the battle. Bloomberg's critical role in America is to show that sanity is still alive and well. Trump? That guy was crazy, so glad he's gone. Bloomberg? He's down to earth, responsible, and cool. We all deserved to have the election bought for us. Bloomberg knows best, that's why he has so much money. This is Mike's country now. He battles using his famous "stop and frisk" technique, immobilizing enemies.

Newcomers[]

Jack Ma Jack Ma comes out of retirement!

Jack Ma, the richest man in China, has joined the battle with his perfectly normal-sized face. Now, you might question the ethics of being a super-billionaire in an authoritarian country, but I sure won't. He's responsible for the Alibaba Group which functions as a mega-conglomerate of media over in China. Now, reaching old age, Mr. Ma tries to be an inspirational figure to the young masses of entrepreneurs of our generation. Despite his retirement, he realized that it was high time to kick the life out of some successful businessmen to show the world how you, too, can succeed just as he has. Punch a billionaire, kids.

Queen Elizabeth Queen Elizabeth reclaims the throne!

The Queen decided that she was tired of all of the pretenders and is joining the battle to prove her superiority. The Queen gained her wealth purely through inheritance, by having the most pure bloodline in all the land. Nowadays people like to say she doesn't have much power as a monarch, but ol' Lizzy sure did prove them wrong when she approved of Boris's move to suspend parliament! Nonetheless, she's seen as more of a cultural figure than a symbol of power. Apparently there are some people out there who really like to travel to England just because the Queen is there.

Kylie Jenner Kylie Jenner makes herself the winner!

Kylie Jenner was excited to finally enter the action when she became the world's very first self-made woman billionaire. She got that money not from her absurdly rich family but by being an "influencer," meaning she sold extremely expensive makeup and started a new era of unrealistic beauty standards. If you work out enough, and buy her makeup products, you could definitely be just as beautiful as she is! All she did was work hard, no cosmetic surgery! Now, she has decided to join the battle, being the youngest billionaire here. She battles using attacks themed around her makeup and beauty brand.

Don and Xi Donald and Xi take the world stage!

The paramount leaders of the newly joint republic, the People's States of America and China, have joined the battle. Though Donald Trump appeared for battle before, he claims that he had always felt lonely and now fights alongside Xi Jinping, his new life partner. This partnership has allowed them to file for joint taxes equivalent to that of a married couple, which they used to increase their wealth even more. If you think you have a best friend who you love, think again. The companionship of man and man between these two is unmatched. This duo competes as one, complimenting one anothers' attacks in battle. Their bodies are strong, but their emotional bond is stronger.

Dan Gertler Dan Gertler shines bright!

Dan has a background in heavy investments into mineral companies, such as Mojang's Minecraft. You may be wondering what exactly Mr. Gerber's investments pay for. A valid question. Most people would question the morality of throwing money at militia leaders in civil war torn countries such as the Congo, but Dan isn't most people. He made it big doing what nobody else would think to do. He became so good at his job, in fact, that he was granted right to all of the diamonds in the Congo, so he's even got the president's blessing! Dan Gertler fights with moves surrounding minerals, mining, and refining.

King Salman King Salman assassinates the competition!

This wacky fella is the west's favorite autocrat. He's sexy, he's flirty, and he's chill, but he ain't afraid to pop that trunk every once in a while. The current King of Saudi Arabia, Salman gained his wealth through the most honorable way possible: inheritance. Now, I know what you're thinking. "But how can the despotic leader of a theocracy be honorable?" See, you're not thinking like a billionaire. If you wanna make it to Salman's level, you can't be worrying about that kind of thing. At this rate you'll never be successful, you stupid idiot. That's why every other billionaire here looks past their differences and does business with Salman anyway! This fighter battles with the Koran in one hand and the Light of God in the other.

Charlie Kirk Charlie Kirk DESTROYS the libs with facts and logic!

Charlie Kirk got rich by being Mr. Koch’s right-hand man (right hand because Charlie refuses to be anything “left”). This diaperboy built his career on college campuses with his organization, Turning Point USA. The purpose of TPUSA was to prove that conservatism was not a dying ideology among the nation's youth, but the only attendee ended up being Charlie's grandma who just wanted to spend time with her grandson again like she used to. Charlie Kirk does not use violence in battle; he denounces political violence. Instead, he fights using the contradictions in the enemy's logic. Thus destroying them, with FACTS. If you hear the words "Dear Liberals," it's already over. You'd better start running.

Character Ballot[]

The character ballot can be found here.

Following the resounding success of FORTUNE FURY 2K18, the developers realized that their fans had many demands. As such, they created a medium by which the fans may request characters to be added to their new video game. Above, fans can find a link to the character ballot, where they may submit their opinion for what characters they feel should be represented in the FORTUNE FURY series.

Stages[]

The playing field on all of these stages is simply a flat straight line, though the camera angle may be changed with considerable action. Stages are made unique by the fact that they have background obstacles that can interfere in the battle and deal damage or hinder a character's stats. Players can choose to turn off stage obstacles, however, even in Campaign Mode.

Each stage relates to one or many of the billionaires included as playable characters in the game. Many stages return from the first game in the series, while there are also many new stages to accommodate the new additions to the franchise.
