== Mario == Nintendo's First Hero is back with some changes. His new Down Special, Master Luma's Gift, will make Mario spin and he will not fall while in the air and deal 15% damage if all hits connect, however, while Luma flies back into Mario's Hat, Mario will be briefly helpless and vulnerable. However, he now runs slightly faster and as a result has slightly worse traction. His new Final Smash is Ice Flower where he will transform and can then shoot fast-moving, large ice balls for about 10 seconds. Power/Balanced/Jumper

== Doctor Mario == Doctor Mario is much more powerful than Mario. Due to his diet of weird pills and his heavy Doctor's coat he is a heavy weight and is weighed down significantly while jumping. However, his pills are faster and more powerful than fireballs and his jump-punch is able to be sweet-spotted like Luigi's. Power/Balanced Changes from Mario

  • All attacks deal 15% more damage and 13% more knockback than Mario's.
  • Attacks launch horizontally, at a more favorable angle than Mario's.
  • Some attacks deal electrical damage, causing more hitstun.
  • Walking speed and jumping height and up special recovery are only 85% of Mario's.
  • Pills are faster than Fireballs and cause 1% less damage but cannot be absorbed.
  • Up Smash spikes opponents being the most powerful spike in the game, able to KO grounded at around 130%.
  • Up spiecal is more powerful and only deals one hit instead of two.
  • Down Spiecal deals 2% more damage if all hits connect but gains about 25% less distance when used as a recovery.
  • Has an additional victory theme representing the Dr. Mario Theme from Dr. Mario, replacing the Super Mario 3D World one.
  • Taunts are still unique simply being his taunts from SM4SH but he has a new back taunt where he tosses a pill directly up in the air where it will land in front of him a moment later and disappear after dealing damage to any player it contacts on the way down.
  • Dr. Mario has 3 additional idle animations.
    • He will toss a pill in his mouth.
    • He will pick his nose and wipe his hand on his labcoat.
    • He will look around in a circle and gasp/
== Peach == Peach will abuse toads no longer in this latest installment. She now runs slower, jumps higher and her neutral special is now a long, 10 second action that allows her to make a cake and heal herself 8% damage. If she is hit while making it she will drop the ingredients and can heal 1% by eating each one and can use the spoon as a melee weapon. The chance she will pull out an item rather than a vegetable when using her down special is higher but vegetables themselves deal much less damage while also dealing more knockback. Projectile/Healer
== Captain Toad == This plucky toad is new to fighting. He just wanted some trophies. Whatever the reason however, he is here and here to fight. Captain Toad is a Semi-Clone of Toon Link and he swings at his opponents with his pickaxe like a sword and his down special is a bob-bomb. However, what sets them apart is that Captain Toad has no other projectiles apart from his final smash but he can use a double cherry as his forward special. He will tumble forward, it will fall out of his hand and a second Captain Toad will appear and can attack and run in the same way Captain Toad does for 6 seconds before the original Toad disappears and Captain Toad is now the clone. This is a reference to Super Mario 3D World because this is what happens to a player who dies with a doppelganger still alive in this game. Captain Toad's Final Smash the Toad Brigade. They will fly through the stage and their spaceship will charge into players dealing damage. Captain Toad runs very fast when carrying items and in general but can not jump very high (about as high as Dedede's second and third jumps) but his up special, the Green star, will propel Captain Toad up when he lifts it into the air above him. Projectile/Speed/Swordfighter
== Bowser == Bowser is back to defeat the Mario Bros. once and for all in this Smash game. He is basically a tank in a shell and his new Side Smash, the Koopa Punch, allows him to punch hard and use his dark koopa energies to make the punch even more powerful. Power
== Bowser Jr. (and the Kooplings) == Bowser Jr. is ready to help his dad defeat the Mario Bros. and to make his dad see how cool he is. His Clown car now hovers slightly off the ground and like Peach with her dress, he can float with the propeller on the bottom. His Koopa Clown Car can punch, drill, and instead of Mech-Koopas he has Bob-Bombs which are much more explosive. When the Bob-Bomb is still out, this move can be used like the Villager's pocket move. Balanced
== Paper Mario and Huey == A fighter from a dimension where everything is flat, this 2D, mustachioed plumber is ready to slap you with a hammer with the help of Huey, the talking paint can. You can use his hammer as his Smash and Standard Attacks and the paint from the Smash Attacks deal extra damage if a player is near them. Since Huey can't suck the paint out of the enemies, he'll suck their life out instead by going on their head and dealing damage. Paper Mario's footstool jumps can actually deal damage similar to if he has used a jump sticker; he will also get a boost up. He is smaller, sleeker and faster than his 3D counterpart but he is the 2nd lightest character on the roster of fighters. His Final Smash will have Paper Mario look at some battle cards and he will choose one randomly on an opponent of his choice. Power/Balanced

  • Back Taunt: Waves his finger at the camera. Battle Won animation from Ppaer Mario
  • Tripping: Will turn into a funnel and land on the ground. Will briefly appear crinkled after getting up.

  • Victory Animation 4: All party Characters and pxls from Super Paper Mario (except Luigi if he was played during the battle) will cheer for Paper Mario.
  • Victory Theme 1: Battle won theme from Color Splash/Sticker Star.
  • Victory Theme 2: Section of the Cascade Falls theme of Super Mario Oddyssy.
== Rosalina and Luma == Rosalina and Luma is fairly unchanged from the previous game. Luma attacks faster and Rosalina attacks slower than Super Smash Bros. 4. Rosalina is also now a heavy weight to match her status in Mario Kart. Power/Duel Fighter
== Paper Luigi/Mr. L == Paper Luigi, Paper Mario's flimsier brother, has loads of tricks up his sleeves. He can use various pixls from Super Paper Mario such as Carrie (Up Special), Boomer (Side Special), Throu (who acts like a tether grab) and Tippi (Neutral Special). His down special transforms him into Mr. L who cannot jump as high and runs slower but has better traction and additionaly deals dark energy instead of additional fire damage from his attacks. While Paper Luigi has the highest jump in the game and Mr. L is not far behind, Paper Luigi/Mr. L is also the lightest character in the entire game. His Final Smash in either form is Brobot who (like Landmaster) can be controlled for about 12 seconds. Power/Jumper/Balanced
== Yoshi == Yoshi has many new changes. His hard to control side special has been replaced with trip. This attack allows Yoshi to trip into other opponents causing them to trip for a second or two. This attack has a rare chance of making an opponent trip multiple times and the can even trip off a ledge. Jumper/Balanced
== Yarn Poochy (DLC) == A fluffy little fighter, he is a clone of Yoshi but is lighter and faster being one of the fastest characters in the game. His smash attacks are a bit more powerful than Yoshi's but are slower to execute. Also, his eggs appear as yarn balls and are referred to as YARN. So don't mess this up. Speed/Power
== Mr. Game and Watch == A black and white figure of an older age, Mr. Game and Watch brings much to the table. Some of his attacks are random such as Judge. He is the third lightest character in the game with only the Paper Mario Bros. weighing less than him. He now runs faster and jumps higher and has a much faster grab than in previous installments. Finally, oil panic no longer has a limit on the damage so use this to your advantage. Power/Jumper/Speed
== Wario == Walugi? Nah, who needs him when we've got the Wa Wa Wario himself! Wario can now pocket certain items with his chomp including most projectiles and his motorcycle has been replaced with a Wario Kart. His new Final Smash (PowerUp Mania) is similar to Super Mario Land 2. Wario will gain a Fire Flower for five seconds, then he will have Bunny Ears for another 5 Seconds and after that he will turn giant as if he is under a Super Mushroom for 10 seconds. Balanced
== Waluigi (DLC) == A highly anticipated character, Waluigi is a Semi Clone of both Wario and Luigi with his main differences being that he is faster, much lighter, has less traction than either, and can jump high unlike Wario. His jumps are the forth highest behind Luigi, Paper Luigi, and Falco. His Final Smash is Pinball. All characters will go to a Waluigi Pinball like area and 3 giant pinballs will appear and ram into as many opponents as they can in the 10 seconds they are there. Jumper/Balanced
== DK == Nintendo's First villain is a monkey with an attitude. His new Side Special, the Coconut gun, takes long to charge but deals 30% damage and incredible knockback. His new Final Smash, 8-Bit kong, will turn the stage into Brawl's 75m stage where an 8 bit DK, throwing barrels and many hammer wielding Mario's will come in and try to kill the player. The attacks are somewhat easy to avoid but this Final Smash lasts a full 20 seconds to make up for it. Power/Speed
== Diddy Kong == Diddy Kong is a fast little monkey and wants to be like DK when he is older. His Peanut Gun is like Donkey Kong's Coconut Gun but deals less damage and his smash attacks have been changed to act like faster yet much weaker versions of DK's. His standard attacks also have increased range due to his stretchy limbs. His new final smash, Donkey Kong Jr., will transport everyone to an area like that game while DK runs around and tries to hit the players and several 8-bit Mario's will drag animals around to damage players. This final smash lasts for a full 15 seconds. Speed/Projectile
== Little Mac (DLC) == Here to punch some people, Little Mac can certainly pack a punch. His KO meter now charges by damage but works like Lucario's aura in which all of his attacks get more powerful and useful as he charges it up more. It charges fully at 120% and Little Mac can unleash very slow KO punches until he dies once it is fully charged. When Little Mac spawns in a stage, a Punching Bag spawns with him and will produce items as long as it is on the stage. It will also never despawn and will appear on Omega stages even if items are turned off. Power/Speed
== Ice Climbers == These little buddies are back from their absence. Wonder why they left...? Well now they are back. However, their powers are doubled from the front but they no longer hit from the back. Don't worry though-they still have cute little smiles to make up for it. Duel Fighters
== Steve == Steve is a clone of Captain Toad who is also a clone of Toon Link. His sword is wielded like Toad's pickaxe and Toon Links Sword. TNT deals a good amount of damage though not as much as Bob-bomb. His sprint is one of the fastest while his walk and jump are some of the worst in the game. Steve's Final Smash, Minecraft Mania, will summon many Mincraft related things to deal damage to all players on the stage. Projectile/Swordfighter
== Link == Link is back and ready to fight. The Triforce is with him as he slashes away in this newest installment. His sword is bigger which gives him increased range and his attack speeds are now much faster. His new Final Smash, Ocarina of Time, will cause all other players to have a random status effect (Flower, Mini Mushroom, Dizziness, etc.) for ten seconds while Link can do whatever he wants in this time. Projectile/Swordfighter
== Toon Link == Link's alternate dimension counterpart is back and has a few gimmicks he wants to show the fighters. He runs faster, one of the fastest characters in the game and has attacks that are much quicker than Link, Steve and Captain Toad. His Final Smash also has increased range. Most importantly his heroes bow can now be aimed in a upwards or downwards direction while charging the shot. Balanced/Projectile/Swordfighter/Jumper
== Zelda/Shiek == Zelda is not know for being the fastest or most powerful character around. In the newest installment, she is even slower than before but has a much higher KO potential and power than before. She can also change into Shiek. Zelda also wields a sword for her standard and smash attacks. Shiek is now slower than before but can jump higher and has slighly higher power to make up for this. Power/Projectile (Zelda)

Speed/Projectile/Jumper (Shiek)

== Toon Zelda (DLC) == While normal Zelda has changed quite a bit, Toon Zelda acts much similar to how Zelda did in the previous installment. Some differences is that she can jump higher and run faster and her standard special is a weaker light arrow shot that takes almost 4 seconds to charge fully. Her final smash is the same as Zelda's and Shiek's. Power/Projectile/Speed/Jumper
== Ganondorf == A powerful and agile fighter, Ganondorf has many weaknesses. Maybe that's why he hasn't been able to take over Hyrule. However, to make up for this, he hits like a truck and his attacks are even more powerful and faster in this game. Power
== Samus/Zero Suit == Samus can now Jump higher using her jetpack and her charge shot fires much faster. Her down special is Zero Suit Samus who also acts the similar as in the previous installment but her tether grab deals damage if it contacts as it is reeling back. Projectile (Samus)

Speed/Projectile (ZSS)

== Pit/Dark Pit (Palette Swap) == Pit can glide! He is the only character who is able to do this. However, he cannot change directions while gliding. His side special is his Brawl one again but can only be used for 5 seconds at a time before needing to be cooled down. Balanced/Projectile/Swordfighter
== Ike == Ike gives no sympathy. His sword is even bigger now and Ike now runs faster. His sword is now sweet-spotted though meaning that attacks must be more precise to deal max damage. Power/Speed/Swordfighter
== Marth == Marth is a swordsman who can fight his own against powerful foes. He now runs slower but jumps higher. Dancing Blade now has imputs that are organized like this:

Up: Upwards Strike

Down: Tripping Strike

Forwards: Powerful Strike

Backwards: Sudden Strike

Speed/Swordfighter
== Lucina (DLC) == Lucina is like Marth but her jump is higher, her speed is faster, and while her sword isn't sweetspotted, she stands taller and deals increased knockback on several attacks from the preivious installment.. Jumper/Speed/Swordfighter/Balanced
== Duck Hunt (DLC) == Duck Hunt is smaller and faster than before and he has more power to his attacks as he chomps his opponents as well as blasts them. As your victory against him is secured, you taunt. And get 15% damage as you have done it after killing Duck Hunt. WHO'S LAUGHING NOW BUDDY! Speed
== Kirby == Kirby tastes real power in the 6th installment in the series. His down special deals more damage depending what it is he transforms into. Also, he now absorbs all of a characters special moves instead of their neutral ones allowing him to change the game drastically. Jumper/Speed/Balanced
== King Dedede == The most powerful character in the game is back. And NO it is not DK. This guy doesn't have a tail. He is faster than before and is a bit smaller allowing him to be in the upper middle class for weight. His hammer also deals more damage at the end than on the stick. Power/Swordfighter/Jumper
== Meta Knight == Meta Knight is here. His face is covered with a hideous mask but that will not stop him from slashing at you with his sword. His new Final Smash, Halbared, summons the Halbared's cannon to blast everyone into the sky. Swordfighter/Speed/Jumper
== Fox == Fox has always been fast. However, Sonic has always given him a run for his money. Quite literally; he's broke now. However, he is trying to prove himself fighting and his moveset has changed to reflect that. His blaster and flame attacks remain but his new side special, Kick Flurry, unleashes many kicks and it can be comboed into easily. His new down special, is a counter which has visuals similar to his previous down special. Speed/Projectile
== Falco == Falco's fighting style is like Fox's earlier style. However, Falco can now shine with his reflector, jump higher, and deals more damage in general. His blaster now is faster but still makes opponents flinch as well. His new Final Smash, Corneria, summons all charcters to Corneria where many Arwings are waiting to blast everyone. Jumper/Projectile/Speed/Balanced
== Pikachu == Pikachu is a little rat-cat-thing right? NO! He is the cutest Pokemon ever. He is also very powerful. His Thunder Attack is stronger and his Smash Attacks are faster but weaker. His Final Smash is Riachu who is bigger and more powerful. If only he were a character here.... Speed/Power/Balanced/Projectile
== Jigglypuff == In the newest installment, Jigg's is much more mobile to make up for his weakness of being unpowerful compared to some other characters. His jumps now also gain more height and Pound deals more knockback. Jigglypuff, however, can be a power to be reckoned with in the hands of a master. Jumper
== Lucario == Lucario is a fast, heavy and powerful character who does best a high damage. As his aura increases, he gains more powerful. However, he is less resistant to knockback as he gains more damage. At 0% damage, he is the heaviest character in the game. At 200%, he weighs the equivelent of a lightweight at 200%. With great power, comes weight loss. Power/Speed/Jumper
