Koopa Kart: Double Trouble!! is the fourth installment in the Koopa Kart series and the first installment to be made by HammerBro101 Incorporated. It was released for the Nintendo Gamecube in September 2004.
Items[]
Koopa Kart: Double Trouble!! introduces twelve (technically ten) new items: the Green Paratroopa Shell, Paratroopa Shell, Heart, Spiny Shell, Buzzy Beetle Shell, Blue Shell, Yellow Shell, Bowser Shell, Giant Banana, Fireball, Chain Chomp, and Bob-omb, all of which are Special Items. Also, the first eleven only appear in this game, while the twelfth one goes on to appear in every installment since.
Normal Items[]
Special Items[]
Item | Description | Placements | Characters |
---|---|---|---|
Green Paratroopa Shell/Paratroopa Shell(New Item) |
The newly introduced Paratroopa Shell acts like the Blue Spiny Shell, except the Green one targets a random player, while the Red one targets the nearest player ahead of you. | 2nd-5th (Green)
4th-8th (Red) |
Koopa Troopa (Green) and Paratroopa (Red) |
The Golden Mushroom gives you infinite speed boosts for 7-8 seconds, allowing you to ignore off-road terrain and make huge shortcuts. | 6th-12th | Chargin' Chuck and Shy Guy | |
Chain Chomp (New Item) |
The newly introduced Chain Chomp attaches himself to the front of your kart, allowing you to autopilot the track and bowl over any players within your path. This item is somewhat reckless, though, as he will move around erratically and possibly send you flying off the track. Have you been forgetting to train him? Well, you will see a similar item in the next installment, so don't get used to him for too long. | 5th-10th | Monty Mole and Popple |
Bob-omb (New Item) |
The new Bob-omb will count down before exploding, tossing any kart upwards and making it drop its items. It isn't a good idea to hold this behind you, because this means disaster for you! | 2nd-6th | Cackletta and Fawful |
Bowser Shell (New Item) |
The humongous Bowser Shell is new to Koopa Kart: Double Trouble!!, and it will plow through anyone in its path, knocking them over and making them lose their items. | 1st-6th | Bowser and Bowser Jr |
Giant Banana (New Item) |
The Giant Banana is a newcomer to Koopa Kart: Double Trouble!!, and it will block every item except for Lightning and Blue Spiny Shells. Once hit, it will split into three smaller Bananas. | 1st-4th | Sumo Kong and Koopa Kid |
Heart (New Item) |
The new Heart item provides you with a barrier that not only protects you from two item attacks, but allows you to pick up two items as well. | 2nd-6th | Lakitu and Wiggler |
Spiny Shell/Buzzy Beetle Shell (New Item) |
The newly introduced Spiny and Buzzy Beetle Shells act similar to the Red Shell, except they release items that can either help or harm you. | 3rd-7th | Spiny (Spiny Shell) and Buzzy Beetle (Buzzy Beetle Shell) |
Fireball (New Item) |
The newly introduced Fireball allows you to shoot five fireballs at once, spinning out nearby players. | 3rd-6th | Goomba and Galoomba |
Blue Shell (New Item) |
The Blue Shell is a new item in Koopa Kart: Double Trouble!!, and it will freeze the player it hits, making them lose their items. It acts like a Red Shell. | 5th-8th | Hammer Bro and Dry Bones |
Yellow Shell (New Item) |
The Yellow Shell is new, and it causes and earthquake that traps its target in the ground upon collision. It acts like a Red Shell. | 4th-9th | Cheep Cheep and Doopliss |
The mischievous Boo item allows you to turn invisible and steal an item from another player. It allows you to avoid other items and even gain an off-road advantage. | 5th-10th | King Boo and Petey Piranha |

Trivia[]
- This is the last Koopa Kart game to feature just new tracks, as starting from the next Koopa Kart game, there will be retro tracks alongside the new tracks. It is also the last Koopa Kart game where Hammer Bro and Dry Bones are heavyweights and Monty Mole, Shy Guy, Spiny, and Buzzy Beetle are middleweights. The first one will become a middleweight, while the remaining five will become lightweights.
- Starting from this game, Lakitu is a middleweight.
- This and Super Koopa Kart are the only Koopa Kart games without any unlockable characters. Similarly, this is the only Koopa Kart game to feature more characters than it does courses; there are twenty-four characters in this game and only sixteen courses in this game.
