Trivia[]
Some characters are cut and considered during the making of this game:
- Rex from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was cut due to Pyra and Mythra inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Rather, he remain a Mii costume and cameo in Pyra/Mythra's taunt/intro.
- Heihachi from Tekken was cut due to Kazuya inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and because he doesn't have a reliable recover option.
- Black Knight from Shovel Knight was cut due to too many Echo Fighters and the same name as another Echo Fighter (Black Knight from Fire Emblem).
- Curly Brace from Cave Story was cut due to too many Echo Fighters.
- Ribbon Girl from Arms was cut due to having 3 Arms representations are too redundant. Instead Spring Man was changed into the Echo Fighter of Min Min, and her spot was replaced with Mii Mage.
- Tabuu from Super Smash Bros. Brawl was considered but not add in due to Primid inclusion and its ability to use already existing items to attack out weight Tabuu, instead he was made a boss.
- Lyn from Fire Emblem was consider but was not add in due to fan disliking of inclusion of too many Fire Emblem characters.
- Pyro from Team Fortress 2 was consider as the Team Fortress 2 Representation but was changed to Heavy due to him being more popular and the icon for Team Fortress 2 as a whole.
- Other Gen 8 Pokémon was consider before Dragapult made in due to it being the most popular Gen 8 Pokémon in the Pokémon of the Year poll.
Some characters is not added for reason below:
- More Pokémon Trainer is not added due to wanting to make Pokémon Trainer and their Echo Fighter Pokémon Rival more unique.
- OC and non-video game originated characters due to wanting the game to be grounded in realism.
Originally, Ring Fit Trainee is going to be an Echo Fighter for Wii Fit Trainer, but was changed to a standalone Fighter after realizing the potential of Ring Fit Trainee having a non-clone moveset.
