Dustox is a moth-like Pokémon with two pairs of wings. It has a purple egg-shaped body and tattered, green wings with red circles and streaks. It has yellow antennae and yellow stylized compound eyes. Its legs are red and stubby, and it has a jagged fringe on its rear. The female's antennae are smaller than the male's. Dustox uses its antennae to seek out food, and its wings contain a highly poisonous dust. It is nocturnal and is instinctively drawn to light. When it is in swarms, it is attracted by the bright light of cities where it wreaks havoc by stripping the leaves off roadside trees for food. It lives in forests.
In Pokémon Solstice and Equinox, it evolves into Moderos starting at level 20, but only if the Dustox was caught as a Cascoon, and not a Wurmple.
The Silk Incense can be given to either a Beautifly or a Dustox and then bred to produce either a Cascoon or a Silcoon instead of a Wurmple.
- Dustox shares its species name with Venomoth. They are both known as the Poison Moth Pokémon
- Dustox is the only Poison-type Pokémon that evolves from a non-Poison-type. Thus, if a poisoned Cascoon evolves into Dustox, it will keep the status condition.
