The Dopefish are large, stupid fish that appear in Commander Keen in Goodbye, Galaxy, appearing in Episode IV: Secret of the Oracle. It has since appeared in many other video games as some kind industry inside joke. The character was created by Tom Hall as part of a series of 24 character idea sketches for Commander Keen in Goodbye, Galaxy, with Dopefish being one of the few that made the cut.

Description[]

The official ingame description for the Dopefish goes like this:

The second-dumbest creature in the universe, this creature's thought patterns go "swim swim hungry, swim swim hungry." They'll eat anything alive and moving near them, though they prefer heroes.

The Dopefish itself is a green, giant fish with two buck teeth and a dopey set of eyes. It has a pair of huge back fins and a small set of frontal fins. It eats at Commander Keen or Schoolfish, after devouring them, it looks to the camera and burps.
