Disney All-Stars (ディズニーオールスターズ Dizunī Ōru-Sutāzu) is a crossover fighting game produced by Capcom and Heavy Iron Studios. The game features characters from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars properties. The game was released globally for Nintendo Switch, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X on October 16, 2023 to mark the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company, with a PC version released on December 15, 2023 to celebrate Walt Disney's 122nd birthday.

Gameplay

Disney All-Stars is a platform fighting game featuring similar gameplay to Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. series, with players battling on different stages and attempting to knock their opponents outside the boundaries of the arena. Players can also fill up a special Dream Burst meter via landing attacks, combos, or getting hit, afterwards pressing the special attack button allows the character to let loose a powerful attack.

The game supports local and online multiplayer for up to four players, with the game's online functionality utilizing rollback netcode on supported platforms. The game also features a single-player arcade mode called Tournament Mode, a story mode called Legacy Mode, as well as an in-game shop called the Enchanted Tiki Room, a gallery mode called the Disney Vault, and a stage builder based on Disney Infinity's Toy Box.

Playable Characters

The game features 34 (59 through DLC) playable characters from 32 franchises (26 Disney and 6 Pixar), half of the characters were available from the start while the remaining half are unlockable through various means. An additional 21 fighters from 21 new franchises would later be added through DLC.

Stages

The game features 40 (79 through DLC) stages, 20 of which were unlockable, based on either attractions from the Disney parks or other Disney and Pixar properties. A couple of the stages represent multiple properties while others contain cameos from other Disney properties. An additional 29 would later be released through downloadable content.

Development

The game was developed by Capcom and Bandai Namco, marking the first time the company have developed a game with Disney since The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge in 2004. The game was teased on October 16, 2021 before being formally revealed during The Game Awards 2021, with the characters Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Baloo, Elsa, Rapunzel, Simba, Ariel, Maleficent, Dr. Facilier, Jack Skellington and Jack Sparrow being the first to be revealed. Many of the developers of Disney Sorcerer's Arena were brought over to aide in the development of the game, with both titles sharing similar artstyles.

The following year of 2022 would see several more characters and stages would be revealed both in press conferences and on the Disney All-Stars website, starting with E3 2022 with the reveal of Aladdin and Emperor Kuzko alongside stages based on Big Thunder Mountain and the Black Pearl. During Gamescon 2022, the game's main story mode, Legacy Mode, would formally be revealed alongside Beast, Sully and Mike, as well as the two crossover stages New York and Great Before/Land of the Dead. During D3 2022, the game's October release date was revealed alongside Stitch, Perry, Kim Possible, Jake Long, Peter Pan, and Ian Lightfoot as well as the Pride Rock, Wasteland, Pandora, Club Penguin Island, Muppet Theater, and X-Games Arena. It was also revealed that a special collection of DVDs based on the game's roster called the All-Star Collection would also be released during 2023, each containing special codes for costumes for characters in the game.

E3 2023 would reveal a closed beta test for August that would have 8 playable characters (Mickey, Donald, Simba, Elsa, Sulley and Mike, Ariel, Aladdin, and newcomer Buzz Lightyear) and 8 playable stages (Master Arena, Sorcerer's Arena, Tomorrowland, Jungle Cruise, Rivers of Life, Journey into Imagination, Big Thunder Mountain, and the newly revealed Cinderella's Castle), while formal reveals would include Woody, Long John Silver, the Lone Ranger, Wreck-it Ralph, and Mr. Incredible, alongside new stages like Mr. Ray's Tour, Haunted Mansion, Country Bear Jamboree, and The Belltower. It would also reveal that Alan Menkan would be composing tracks for the game, with the opening theme "Wildfire" being sung by Against the Current.

D23 2023 would mark the reveal of the final base game characters (Baymax, Wall-E, Scrooge McDuck, Hiro Hamada, Kermit the Frog) as well as the characters Mirabel Madrigal and Raya being the two pre-order characters alongside four bonus stages (Madrigal Casita, Kumandra Cruise, Disneyland, a stage based off of the then-upcoming movie Strange World). Those who would pre-order the game would also receive a special CD containing music inspired by the game itself, a special replica championship belt based on the All-Star Championship title in the game. Mirabel, Raya and the bonus stages would still be bought after the game was released.

During E3 2024, it was revealed that there was going to be a season pass of DLC for the game called FastPass which would have packs called Tickets where 1 character is packed alongside two stages and eight new songs, with five characters for each season. Season 1's first FastPass Ticket would bring in Sora from Kingdom Hearts alongside the stages Destiny Islands from his own series and Paradiso based on Kilala Princess. The second FastPass Ticket would introduce Marvel Comics content with the character Spider-Man alongside Battleworld and the Tower of Terror based on both the Twilight Zone version and the Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! replacement, The Great Mouse Detective's Basil of Baker Street would serve as the star of the third FastPass Ticket with Big Ben being the third DLC crossover stage with it crossing over his own series with Peter Pan as well as a stage based on the defunct Malestorm attraction from EPCOT. Pocahontas would be the fourth FastPass Ticket, with her stages being High Frontier from her series and Constitution from The Lone Ranger. The fifth FastPass Ticket would have Star Wars' Luke Skywalker alongside the Death Star and Disney California Adventure's Grizzly River Run attraction.

D23 2024 would announce a second wave of FastPass DLC with five more packs for the season. FastPass Ticket 6 would have Drossel from Fireball alongside the Merkur Era crossover stage that crossed over the series with Wall-E, which also received a stage in the Axiom. FastPass Ticket 7 would have Roger Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit be introduced alongside Maroon Studios and Fantasia as his stages. FastPass Ticket 8 would see Molly McGee and Scratch of The Ghost and Molly McGee be introduced as fighters alongside Ghosts of Mistwood's Mistwood stage as well as the Castle of Illusion. FastPass Ticket 9 would introduce Grim from Twisted Wonderland alongside Night Raven College and Star Smash Arena, based on the mobile game Disney Star Smash. The final FastPass Ticket would see Goliath from Gargoyles be introduced as the game's last fighter with his stages being Midnight Manhattan, a crossover stage between Gargoyles and Hannah Montana, and Fantasmic as the game's final stage.

E3 2025 would introduce a special Diamond Edition upgrade for 2026, with the final added characters being Kilala Reno from Kilala Princess, Kida from Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Judy Hopps from Zootopia, Sofia the First, Doc alongside his fellow Dwarves from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Ms. Marvel from Marvel Comics, Captain Rex from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Rallen from Spectrobes, and finally Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, with new stages including Zootopia, Enchancia from Sofia the First, Free City from Free Guy, Dream Stage based on Disney Magical Dance, Magic Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, and finally the Lost World based on Ice Age. It would also include a new DLC story mode based on the game's various DLC characters as well as a special poster featuring the game's full roster for the physical release.

• This game was created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company, and as such, nearly all of the game's content is meant to be a nod and a reference to previous works both created and acquired by Disney.
