Disney All-Stars (ディズニーオールスターズ Dizunī Ōru-Sutāzu) is a crossover fighting game produced by Capcom and Heavy Iron Studios. The game features characters from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars properties. The game was released globally for Nintendo Switch, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X on October 16, 2023 to mark the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company, with a PC version released on December 15, 2023 to celebrate Walt Disney's 122nd birthday.

Gameplay

Disney All-Stars is a platform fighting game featuring similar gameplay to Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. series, with players battling on different stages and attempting to knock their opponents outside the boundaries of the arena. Players can also fill up a special Dream Burst meter via landing attacks, combos, or getting hit, afterwards pressing the special attack button allows the character to let loose a powerful attack.

The game supports local and online multiplayer for up to four players, with the game's online functionality utilizing rollback netcode on supported platforms. The game also features a single-player arcade mode called Tournament Mode, a story mode called Legacy Mode, as well as an in-game shop called the Enchanted Tiki Room, a gallery mode called the Disney Vault, and a stage builder based on Disney Infinity's Toy Box.

Playable Characters

The game features 34 (59 through DLC) playable characters from 32 franchises (26 Disney and 6 Pixar), half of the characters were available from the start while the remaining half are unlockable through various means. An additional 21 fighters from 21 new franchises would later be added through DLC.

Development

The game was developed by Capcom and Bandai Namco, marking the first time the company have developed a game with Disney since The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge in 2004. The game was teased on October 16, 2021 before being formally revealed during The Game Awards 2021, with the characters Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Baloo, Elsa, Rapunzel, Simba, Ariel, Maleficent, Dr. Facilier, Jack Skellington and Jack Sparrow being the first to be revealed. Many of the developers of Disney Sorcerer's Arena were brought over to aide in the development of the game, with both titles sharing similar artstyles.

The following year of 2022 would see several more characters and stages would be revealed both in press conferences and on the Disney All-Stars website, starting with E3 2022 with the reveal of Aladdin and Emperor Kuzko alongside stages based on Big Thunder Mountain and the Black Pearl. During Gamescon 2022, the game's main story mode, Legacy Mode, would formally be revealed alongside Beast, Sully and Mike, as well as the two crossover stages New York and Great Before/Land of the Dead. During D3 2022, the game's October release date was revealed alongside Stitch, Perry, Kim Possible, Jake Long, Peter Pan, and Ian Lightfoot as well as the Pride Rock, Wasteland, Pandora, Club Penguin Island, Muppet Theater, and X-Games Arena.
