Destiny Sports: Castaway Court is a basketball sports game released in late 2021 for various systems, serving as a reboot of the Destiny X of Random-ness Wiki franchise (from the now-defunct Random-ness Wiki).

Across the multiverse, two mysterious beings have sent out invitations for a cross-dimensional basketball tournament, heavily associated with the ocean. Stirring up the waves of long-forgotten Destinies, 38 players have arrived to fight it out on the court and become the ultimate basketball champion!

In May 2022, Season 2: Rift Storm was announced, with the game's launch content being retroactively named Season 1: Divine Waves. This content update would include a gradual rollout of new content for the game across the coming months, but the specifics on the upcoming content are currently unknown.

Gameplay

Destiny Sports plays much like a traditional basketball game - both teams aim to get the ball into the other team's hoop to score points, with three players on each team. The player who has the ball can throw the ball either to pass it to a teammate, or to throw it into the hoop. A throw can be charged up to make it faster and more accurate. When close to the hoop, they can also perform a slam dunk to score, which is much harder to intercept than a throw. Anyone who doesn't have the ball can attack at melee range to stun an enemy, making them drop the ball if they have it, use a block to prevent enemy players from going past them, and jump to try and intercept a throw. Regardless of whether they have the ball or not, players can also perform a dodge move to avoid enemy attacks, though the dodge move is slower for the player who has the ball.

As the game goes on, various items are thrown onto the court. These range from ranged weapons and stat boosts, to the Currency items, which are a major collectible. The Currency in question varies depending on the stage. Each team can hold up to 100 Currency, and a number of Currency will be lost if the player with the ball gets attacked. When getting the ball into the basket, all Currency will be lost, but an extra point will be given for each point of Currency. Players also have the option to pay 10 Currency to power up the item they are holding.

Every character in the game has a unique Ability, which has varying effects depending on the character - an alternate form of attack, an alternate movement option, or an alternate way to pick up items, for example.

Players can also perform Special Shots, done by filling that player's Special Meter. One section of the meter is filled for every hit taken from an attack, and for every hit the player lands on enemies. Once all of the sections are filled, a Special Shot can be performed, which is much harder to intercept than a regular shot - when performed close enough to the basket, the Special Shot becomes a dunk that is completely impossible to intercept.

Each match plays a number of "periods", each lasting for a set time. Once all periods are over, the team with the most points wins. In the case of a tie, a tiebreaker period is played, which doesn't end until somebody scores. To prevent the tiebreaker from dragging on, items become increasingly more frequent over time.

Players

All players have four stats that determine their performance on the court:

  • Speed: Determines movement speed and dunk speed.
  • Power: Determines throw speed and range, and how long the enemy is stunned when attacking them.
  • Skill: Determines throw accuracy and blocking ability.
  • Tricks: Determines dodging ability and ability to intercept a shot by jumping.

Flying characters have the ability to hover mid-jump, making intercepting a throw easier, but take a little extra while to get back up when stunned.

Season 1: Divine Waves

Ava
Custom

Ava Destiny Sports.png

A rookie basketball player who caught wind of the tournament and just showed up to prove their skills. While talented, they're inexperienced and aren't exactly sure what kind of strategy to go with yet, so they've got a lot of work to do! While friendly, they're very naive and often a bit dim, and interestingly enough refuses to talk about their personal life before joining the tournament. Their goal is to win, even when confronted with powerful and magical opponents. Good luck, Ava...

Ava's appearance and stats are fully customisable, with the player allowed to adjust each individual number with an overall point cap of 24.

Ava's ability can be picked from one of five custom options alongside their stats.

Heart Shield
Ava can project a heart-shaped shield in front of them to reflect attacks.

Chroma Blast
Ava can fire a rainbow laser at an opponent to stun them and make them drop the ball.

Team Spirit
Allies near Ava have all their stats increased by 1.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Destiny Shot: Ava channels cosmic power and throws the ball with glowing hands, giving it a rainbow trail.
  • Destiny Dunk: Ava jumps into the sky, flipping in the air to dunk the ball while surrounded by stars.

Chain Chomp
Powerful

ChainChomp SSBUltimate.png

BARK BARK! What's that sound? A huge, solid steel dreadnought that leaves chaos in its wake! There's nothing a Chain Chomp loves more than head pats, belly rubs and eating plumbers. Unfortunately, they're stuck chained up most of the time. This Chomp is an individual who has broken its chain and is ready to become a pro athlete, but clearly it has no grasp of rules, as it is still carrying around the tennis racket from its last tournament and, like a dog with a bone, has become very attached to it.

Sanae Kochiya
Speedy

Time Junction Sanae.png

The shrine maiden and wind priestess of the Moriya Shrine, a place of worship for two rival goddesses. It just so happened, the shrine was chosen as one of many spots to place a basketball court for the tournament. She's surprisingly ambivalent to having her shrine taken over, and she's happy to enjoy the games of basketball going around. Though one of the two goddesses, Lady Kanako, isn't so keen, telling her shrine maiden to find out why the shrine was given basketball hoops in the first place. Why indeed?

Speed: 8/10
Power: 4/10

  • Gale Dunk: Sanae rises into the air, surrounds herself in a tornado and flies towards the basket, then slams the ball in.
Cirno
Tricky

Cirno DDC.png

You might not think there's anything too special about Cirno - she's just a little fairy, after all. But make no mistake! She's a rare ice fairy with the power to freeze anything! She mostly uses this power on frogs for her own amusement, but shouldn't be underestimated when she's serious. Cirno's a big campaigner for fairy rights, with them being a very weak and mistreated species where she comes from. Entering the basketball games with a lot of big shots, she's out to make a name for her kind!

Cirno is a flying player.

Speed: 7/10
Power: 4/10
Skill: 4/10

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Ice Shot: Cirno throws the ball into the air and bombards it with ice shards, freezing it into a crystal that flies for the hoop.
  • Hail Dunk: Cirno flies loops into the air while scattering hail, then rises up and dives into the hoop, still holding the ball.
Yuyuko Saigyouji
Technical

Yuyuko TD.png

The ruler of the dead living in Hakugyokurou, the cherry garden of the Netherworld. Yuyuko is a very interesting sort, coming off as spacey and bizarre at first, but being extremely cunning and sharp when least expected. While she says that she "jumped at the chance" when she was first told about the basketball, it's clear she knows more than she's letting on to. She even claims to know the managers personally! Either way, don't underestimate her, or her endless army of spirit butterflies.

Speed: 4/10
Power: 6/10
Skill: 8/10
Tricks: 6/10

ABILITY:
Butterfly Familiar

Yuyuko can set up a butterfly that will automatically pick up the ball when it is close, and automatically pass it to the nearest member of Yuyuko's team.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Butterfly Shot: Yuyuko summons a spiral of butterflies that encase the ball, then fly towards the basket while bringing the ball with them.
  • Butterfly Dunk: Yuyuko summons giant butterfly wings, rears back, and soars to the basket while slamming the ball in.
Kuroji Shitodo
Speedy

Kuroji BPoHC.png

Kuroji is someone with quite the repertoire. A historian, military strategist, archaeologist and... con artist? To tell the truth, they were banished to this parallel world called Mugenri for "having a mysterious power", that being the ability to reverse the direction of anything. Their world isn't kind to the supernatural. While they're seen as a scoundrel for the money they extort, they're a genuinely caring person, only wanting the best for themselves, their similarly-banished siblings, and everyone else. As simple a reason as any to compete in the tournament.

Speed: 8/10
Power: 4/10
Skill: 5/10
Tricks: 7/10

ABILITY:
Positive and Negative

Kuroji can use their power to flip the ball's direction mid-flight. Useful for stopping an enemy pass or throw.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Reverse Shot: Kuroji warps into the air, then summons two drones that blast the ball into the hoop with white energy.
  • Reverse Dunk: Kuroji throws the ball several times, warping to and catching it after each throw, then warps above the basket and throws it down.
Adagumo no Yaorochi
Powerful

Yaorochi BPoHC.png

Once upon a time, a giant snake-monster named Orochi ruled over much of their world. Unmatchable with their sword, the Tasouken, they were eventually killed with trickery, and from their remains came eight snake-like people. Yaorochi is the remnant of Orochi's sword-arm, and as such is an adept with the Tasouken, though with the real sword gone, they have to resort to a sword-shaped clay bottle opener made by their haniwa friend. Having absorbed the original sword's spirit, though, the bottle opener's as strong as the real deal, mowing down grass, clouds, and even feelings with ease! Hopefully not basketballs, though, they aren't cheap...

Speed: 6/10
Power: 8/10
Skill: 7/10
Tricks: 3/10

ABILITY:
Cloud-Mowing Sword

Yaorochi can launch a wide slash with the Cloud-Mowing Sword, knocking down enemies in an arc ahead. While powerful, it leaves them open, so use it carefully.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Blade Shot: Yaorochi catches the ball with the Tasouken, flings it into the air with a jumping slash, then bats it into the ball with the sword.
  • Blade Dunk: Yaorochi jumps, then summons a mass of slashes with the Tasouken, pushing the ball in a spiral towards the hoop, then rushes to the ball and slams it in.
Chell
Balanced

Time Junction Chell.png

After surviving many dangers in Aperture Science, it seems GLaDOS has a new test for her... winning a basketball tournament? Hopefully there's a cake this time. Armed with the power of the Portal Gun, Chell can create portals to travel between, and uses this tool to solve the laboratory test chambers. Her determination is unbreakable, and even in the tournament, she's still trying to find her freedom. She won't talk to anyone, so it's unclear whether she's naturally mute or she just thinks it's not worth the effort.

Speed: 5/10
Power: 5/10
Skill: 7/10
Tricks: 7/10

ABILITY:
Portal Warp

Chell can leave a blue portal in place on the court, portalling back to it with the orange portal when the button is pressed again. Both portals will disappear immediately afterward.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Portal Shot: Chell drops the ball into an infinite fall between two portals, then shoots another portal to launch the ball.
  • Portal Dunk: Chell shoots a portal above the hoop, then drops it into the other portal.
Wheatley
Speedy

Wheatley.png

Wheatley, officially known in Aperture's records as the Intelligence Dampening Sphere, was a core built to be "the dumbest moron who ever lived" by the greatest minds of the generation. After events that he'd rather not talk about, he ended up going a bit power-mad and ended up trapped in space. It seemed like there was no hope for him, until he suddenly crashed straight into the tournament stadium. His time in space's magnetic pull seems to have given him some strange gravitational powers, allowing him to float himself and nearby items. Now free from a management rail, Wheatley's ready to redeem himself and prove his skill in the tournament!

Wheatley is a flying player. Due to his lack of arms, he has the ball orbit him when he is "holding" it.

Speed: 9/10
Power: 2/10
Skill: 6/10
Tricks: 7/10

ABILITY:
Magnet Ball

When throwing the ball, Wheatley can use his gravity to either make it twice as slow or twice as fast depending on the directional input.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Moron Shot: Wheatley lobs multiple bombs along with the ball and himself, landing near the ball's next location after the move is complete.
  • Moron Dunk: Wheatley throws the ball and it misses, so he summons a giant crusher that completely destroys the basketball hoop. This, according to an obscure entry in the rulebook, and to the dismay of the speedy construction team that comes in immediately after to rebuild it, counts as a point.
Roombot
Powerful

Time Junction Roombot.png

The Roombots are a troop of ten thousand futuristic robots, a fantastic servant for any household! ...or, they would be if they were perfected. These mechanical butlers have terrible programming, resulting in wacky statements, empty memory, and failure to perform several tasks, but they're charming none-the-less. Right now, the Roombots are stationed in the Time Junction, a hotel in the time-space rift where people stay when they get lost in time. Though some say that a trio of them ran off to stay at a pet hotel... either way, one of them's out to compete, apparently thinking he needs to deliver something to the manager. Huh.

The Roombot is a flying player.

Speed: 8/10
Power: 10/10
Skill: 4/10
Tricks: 2/10

ABILITY:
Room-Forcement

The Roombot can call for a second Roombot to assist. When split, both Roombots have half stats, but allow you to have an extra player on the court. Use the ability again to send the assist back.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Room Shot: The Roombot covers the ball with jet fuel, then uses a rocket thruster to blast it into the hoop.
  • Room Dunk: The Roombot gives a signal and flies away. Then, all ten thousand Roombots stampede across the court, with the player's Roombot jumping out of the chaos at the end to dunk the ball.
Orbulon
Speedy

SSBU spirit Orbulon.png

A curious alien from outer space that crashed into Diamond City in his pig UFO, somehow ending up employed by Wario. He plans to take over the world, but he seems to be procrastinating, since he's made no progress at all and doesn't intend to. He's fascinated by Earth culture, locales and cuisine, but still struggles with learning social interaction and human behaviour. He may not look it, but he's turning 2022 years old next year! He flies around the court on his mini Oinker, but watch out for his tractor beam: if he grabs you, it'll be hard getting free.

Orbulon is a flying player.

Speed: 8/10
Power: 4/10
Skill: 6/10
Tricks: 6/10

ABILITY:
Oinker Beam

Orbulon can use a tractor beam to carry allies or opponents, or to quickly pick up items underneath him. While caught in his beam, players can wiggle the controls to break out. His fuel meter depletes while using the beam, stopping him in his tracks if it runs out. The meter will slowly fill up automatically over time, and resets to full when a point is scored.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Alien Shot: Orbulon charges up and fires a laser from his Oinker at the ball, the shot being more powerful the more fuel Orbulon has. The move will deplete his fuel meter fully.
  • Alien Dunk: Orbulon sends a signal into space, summoning a huge UFO to beam down above the court and drop a meteorite into the hoop. It counts as a point simply because of how cool it looks.
Penny

To quote her self-written song:

She's got her hair tied up in braids,
and glasses perched up on her face.
She is a small girl, takin' on a big world,
with inventions she made!
And though her plans may go awry,
she's gonna get back up and try.
Gonna be a shining star, she's going far, Penny!

Using her experimental water jetpack, Penny can fire a stream of water that propels her backward from the recoil, which can be used to speedily move across the court. Opponents hit by the water will be pushed back and slowed. By double tapping the button, Penny can hover in place to fire water without the recoil, but it will drain her water tank faster. Her water tank will slowly deplete when firing, but refills automatically or when coming into contact with water on certain courts.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Crygor Shot: Penny throws a vial of Tonally Transformative Elixir at the ball, causing it to vibrate and emit a trail of soundwaves as it flies.
  • Crygor Dunk: Penny rides towards the hoop on an experimental motorcycle, jumping into the air to dunk the ball.
Gingerbright

GingerBright.png

Gingerbright may look like a plain Cookie, with no fancy decorations or toppings to speak of, but she's got a bright mind and a skill for running just like any other! As one of the first Cookies to be baked by the witch, she's had a lot of experience running and a great deal of adventures with her made-from-the-same-dough brother Gingerbrave. When running, she always makes sure to bring her sugary lollipop to help her slide and jump all day long from the sugar it contains. It's best not to eat the entire thing at once.

ABILITY:

Gingerbright can slide forward on the ground, giving her a short speed boost and dodging past opponent intercepts and attacks.

  • Sweet Dunk: Gingerbright uses her lollipop to launch into the air and dunk the ball.
Orange Cookie

Baked with plenty of juice and zesty orange peel, Orange Cookie is filled with positive energy and bursting with Vitamin C. She's a big fan of sports, her speciality being tennis. The only thing she loves more than sports are her best friends in the world, Lemon Cookie, Lime Cookie, and... the other one. Grapefruit? She's so good with a racket, some say her smashes could break the time barrier itself. Surely, her skill will help in the tennis... what? This is a basketball tournament? Seems like she's a bit forgetful at times, too...

  • Tennis Dunk: Orange Cookie jumps up with a zesty aura and smashes the ball into the hoop with her racket.
Lemon Cookie
Technical

Time Junction Lemon Cookie.webp

Created in a neon-lit laboratory, this Cookie was made with a highly acidic lemon, filling him with electricity. In his childhood, his uncontrollable power made him an outcast among the other Cookies except Orange, who always stayed by his side. He cares a lot about her, even if he's not a fan of sports, but he wishes she would stop using him as a phone charger... His yellow cube is an artifact that helps regulate his power, but yes, any rumours about certain entities being involved with it are completely false.

Speed: 6/10
Power: 4/10

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Energy Shot: Lemon Cookie's cube glows and he discharges lightning into the ball, giving it an electric aura as it flies.
  • Energy Dunk: Lemon Cookie lights up with electricity as he jumps up into the sky and blasts the ball into the hoop with a lightning bolt.
Lime Cookie
Powerful

Lime cookie.png

Baked with bitter lime peel and sweet lime jelly, Lime Cookie is feisty and acidic, a local volleyball champion and usually seen soaking up the sun at the beach and playing sports near the waves. Despite her popularity, she's never the friendliest towards anyone, other than her admired friend Orange Cookie. She adores Orange so much that she easily gets jealous whenever she talks to others, ESPECIALLY Lemon. Lime absolutely despises how close the two are, no matter how much Orange assures her that she likes both of them the same amount. Maybe winning a basketball tournament will make Orange realise how great she is?

Speed: 6/10
Power: 9/10
Skill: 6/10
Tricks: 3/10

ABILITY:
Lime Inflate-a-Ball

While holding the ball, Lime Cookie can blow-up the ball to become three times as large, making it floatier in the air and heavier on impact, as well as being able to reach longer distances. The ball will slowly shrink back to its normal size after it is thrown.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Volley Shot: Lime Cookie blows up the ball and spikes it like a volleyball.
  • Volley Dunk: Lime Cookie inflates a bubble beneath her, bouncing off it to dunk the ball into the hoop.
Squid Ink Cookie
Tricky

Squink.png

Soggy and filled with dark squid ink, this reclusive Cookie spends their days searching for shiny treasures on the seafloor, moping about the ocean while gushing dark tears. Squid Ink is notoriously shy and will hide from anyone and anything, favouring sunken ceramic pots. Not many people have interacted with them as a result. Legends say that there was once an unstoppable sea monster that plagued the ocean and destroyed every boat in its path, plunging many sailors into the abyss with its empty glowing eyes, but Squid Ink doesn't seem to remember a thing. Could the legends be true?

Once the Tears Meter depletes, Squid Ink will revert back to their regular form.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Squinky Shot: Squid Ink Cookie grabs the ball with one of their tentacles and flings it away, scattering it with ink that coats the ball and leaves a puddle of goop where it lands.
  • Squinky Dunk: Squid Ink Cookie sinks into a puddle of ink, as a large tentacles bursts from the ground and dunks the ball, covering the entire hoop in ink.
Azura
Technical

Azura Fates.png

A gifted songstress, most famous for "Lost in Thoughts All Alone", which proved popular at the Opera House of Cyrkensia, in the kingdom of Nohr. Her song has caught the attention of the tournament's managers, who particularly enjoyed her water-shaping show. As a result, not only was the Opera House chosen as a court location, but Azura was given an advertising post. She also plays in the games, and can often be found singing mid-match. It's hard to hear in the chaos of a game, but her voice can do amazing things.

Speed: 8/10
Power: 4/10

  • Songstress Dunk: Azura sings, summoning a spiral of water that lifts the ball into the air, then flips towards the basket and slams the ball in with her lance.
Corrin

Avatar FE14 Male.png

A nobleman with a troubled history - first raised as a prince of Hoshido, before he was captured and raised as a prince of Hoshido's rival kingdom, Nohr. Most interestingly, he can transform into a dragon, a power that certainly raises questions on his true identity. While he's been fighting to make peace between the two nations, he's also had the time to enjoy Azura's musical advertisements. That seems to have gotten his interest, especially since basketball gives him a break from the fighting. Or so he thought.

  • Dragon Dunk: Corrin summons dragon wings and jumps into the air while blasting the ball upwards, then dives down at the basket with the ball in his full dragon form.
Flowey
Tricky

Flowey Transparent.png

Flowey is, well, a flower. A golden flower to be precise. He lives in the underground, happily greeting any human who accidentally falls down here, and then tricking them into getting hit by his "Friendliness Pellets" so he can get a fresh kill. Don't let the cute act fool you, as he's truly dangerous and doesn't feel emotion. For this basketball game, though, he's been told not to kill anyone - the rules are flexible about attacking, but reducing health to zero is strictly forbidden. He's willing to comply, but how can a flower play a ball game?

Flowey is a very unique character who moves by burrowing underground. He is very fast while burrowing, but can only interact with the ball and players when above ground, where he is stationary.

Speed: 4/10
Power: 4/10

ABILITY:
Friendliness Pellets

Flowey can scatter petals as homing projectiles. While the petals have a long range and are easy to use, they can only be fired when Flowey is above ground, and take a while before they start flying.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Friendliness Shot: Flowey hides underground, then summons a giant vine that grabs the ball and flings it at the hoop.
  • Friendliness Dunk: Flowey hides underground, then summons a giant, plant-based beast that grabs the ball with several vines and slams it into the hoop.

Ralsei
Technical

RasleiDiscord.png

The prince of the Dark World, and supposedly one of the three heroes. He waited alone in the Castle Town to greet the other two heroes, eventually joining Kris and Susie in their quest. After being lonely for so long, he was eager to make new friends and always tries to be the nicest he can be, preferring a pacifistic approach to fighting enemies. Hiding his face under a shadow-casting hat, he's ready to join the tournament to support his teammates, specialising in supportive spells.

  • Fluffy Dunk: Ralsei grabs the ball with his scarf and stretches it up to the hoop to drop the ball in.
Susie
Powerful

Susiesmashlad.png

A rude Lightner bully from Hometown, infamous for her love of eating chalk. With Kris, she was taken into the Dark World and became an axe-wielding hero. At first, she was dismissive of her role and rampaged across the Card Kingdom, but teaming up with Lancer softened her up considerably and begrudgingly brought her back to the side of good. Her violent worldview is still quite questionable, but what's important is that she's loyal and protective of her teammates and the opposite to the enemies.

Speed: 4/10
Power: 10/10
Skill: 4/10

ABILITY:
Rude Buster

By filling up her TP meter when she attacks, Susie can use Rude Buster to fire a large energy wave that explodes on contact, stunning and scattering opponents.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Rude Shot: Susie swings her axe and slashes the ball in midair, filling it with red energy. This move will fill Susie's TP Meter by a considerable amount.
  • Rude Dunk: Susie gets too excited and "accidentally" slices the ball in half, destroying it. Susie grabs one of her teammates (prioritising Ralsei if he is on the team) and dunks them into the hoop instead, and this counts as a point.

After the company's most valuable asset, the Access Ark, was destroyed in an unfortunate accident, she's having difficulties getting the company back on its feet and has turned to sports competitions to raise funds. • Robobot Dunk (Suited): Susie launches upward and drills the ball into the hoop.
Gooey
Tricky

Gooey- Star Allies.png

It seems Kirby was too busy to make it to the tournament, so his loyal friend Gooey is going in his place. What's a tournament? What's a basketball? Is it something you eat? Wide-eyed and absent-minded, Gooey has lots of questions and is happy to explore anywhere he goes. He may be made out of Dark Matter, but he has a kind and heroic heart. It's unclear how a regular Dark Matter could change so drastically, but Gooey seems to have forgotton. Seems like he's forgotten why he's at the tournament already, as well...

Speed: 4/10
Power: 4/10
Skill: 6/10
Tricks: 10/10

ABILITY:
Copy Ability

By grabbing an opponent (or an ally) with his tounge, Gooey will temporarily take on their ability in his own Gooey style, also gaining a special appearance to match the copied character. The ability will reset when attacked multiple times, on command, or when a point is scored.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Matter Shot: Gooey gets confused on what to do and just sits there, so the nearest player (even an opponent) will use their Special Shot on his behalf.
  • Matter Dunk: Gooey wraps his tounge around the ball and spins around, flinging the ball to the other side of the court and landing it in his team's hoop. Gooey's so happy with himself that the referee hasn't got the heart to tell him he just scored an own-point and therefore counts it as a point for his team.

Secluded in the Temple of Winds, this skeletal guardian takes on the role of Guardian of the Gate to welcome and challenge visitors in the air. True to his name, he's a coward at heart and will only fight when absolutely necessary, but he's always willing to help people in need and guide them through the temple. Despite his remote residence, he's not alone, as he's always accompanied by his many little brothers that cause mayhem and mischief whereever they go. Some rumours say he used to be a giant that struck a deal with a cyclone witch, but all that remains of him now is his skull. Let's see if he can muster up the confidence to win the tournament and make the Temple of Winds famous!

Speed: 5/10

ABILITY:
Decoy Skele

While holding the ball, Skelewimp can throw one of his little brothers disguised as a decoy ball that will detonate (With no harm to the brother, don't worry) automatically after a while or on command. Only one decoy ball can be active at a time, and there is a cooldown after the ability is used.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Temple Shot: Skelewimp charges an energy orb and fires it at the ball, giving it a blue aura and a wind effect as it flies.
  • Temple Dunk: Skelewimp floats up and tries to dunk the ball, but before he can many of his little brothers jump up after him and dunk themselves into the hoop. Unfortunately, this does NOT count as a point, so Skelewimp quickly drops in the real ball immediately after.

The helmet seems especially vulnerable, now that the Pokemon seems to also be drawing power from the tournament just like Nebby. An avid gardener, inventor, and all-around insane person, he became a famous hero with his put-upon neighbour when the two single-handedly stopped a zombie outbreak with nothing but their own garden and a lot of zombie-attacking plants. Soon, he started tinkering with time travel technology, building a fully-operational time travelling RV. He wasn't even invited, by the way. He just drove into the stadium looking for a taco stand. He leads an army of zombies, backing them with some powerful machines called Zombots, on a conquest for brains. However, the zombies keep losing to meddling lawns of plants, and after his most recent defeat, he's decided to take a break and play some basketball, joined by his favourite mech, the Zombot Titan. The Zombot has raised several questions, being such a massive assist, but so long as it stays on the side of the court for most of a match, it shouldn't cause too much destruction.

ABILITY:
Zombot Stomp

Zomboss can call for his Zombot to stomp down on the field at the ball's position, provided he is close enough to the ball. This flattens any players, enemy or ally, making them unable to do anything for a while, as well as squashing the ball, making it temporarily unusable.

  • Zombot Shot: Zomboss summons a floating Zombot head, which he jumps inside and uses to launch the ball, coated in either ice or fire.

Even though Tycoon's Wind Crystal is shattered, thus preventing the wind from blowing where she comes from, her ship still sailed thanks to Syldra, a big water dragon who she's very fond of. Sadly, Syldra did die, but came back as a ghost to support her captain in dire times. It's still unknown how she can play basketball with only one hand, but magnets, magic or sheer grip strength may be involved. The interdimensional properties of Nintendo Land itself seem to be similar to the powers of the tournament - maybe that's why she came here?

Rude. You should call me smart, not "tricky"...

Monika DDLC.png

Hey, <insert your name here>! You're back! Guess what? I'm on a Fantendo page! Isn't that intresting? Let's see, this looks like a basketball game... well, this should be fun! Oh, right, I should introduce myself for the bio. Hi, I'm Monika. I used to be the leader of a poetry club, but I was born... different than the others. I was aware of my reality's fake design, and I could see more behind the screen... well, nevermind about that. The club's gone now. Except Sayori. She's on the article now, just scroll down. Anyway, enough chitchat! Let's see my stats!

Speed: 5/10
Power: 5/10
Skill: 5/10

Hmm, pretty bad. I sunk too much energy into my "tricks", clearly.

ABILITY:
Command Prompt

Right, when I stay near an opponent for long enough... I can hack them, temporarily disabling their abilities and making them drop the ball!
You know, if I had my full power, I could do a lot worse to the opponent. Just saying.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Monika Shot: I use my hacking to freeze the ball in place, changing its velocity and speed properties with my command prompt before unfreezing it. What else could I do to the ball? Hmm...
  • Monika Dunk: As I wink towards you, the screen is filled with copies of my favourite text box - "Just Monika". By the time they disappear, a point has been scored! Who could've done that, I wonder?

It seems she's always got a spring in her step, despite her inner sadness. Yes, it seems that as happy as she tries to be, she can't make the rainclouds go away... maybe that special someone could help brighten her day?

MONIKA: I had fun hanging out with her, if you catch my drift.

Destin

Once upon a time, Destin was a little fish living in a river. While the fish were migrating, though, that fish got trapped and would have died, if not for our host, the sea god Embrun, reviving her as a human-like river goddess, to serve him forever more. It was her who had the great idea of drawing the multiverse into a basketball tournament for her master's sake. Though, apparently doing so has caused unexpected side effects - something about the seas spilling between worlds? She's planning on sealing the links between worlds, but that's not what her master wants...

Destin is a flying player.

Speed: 5/10
Power: 4/10
Skill: 8/10
Tricks: 7/10

ABILITY:
Whirlpool

Destin can summon a whirlpool around a nearby opponent, trapping them for some time.

SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • River Shot: Destin jumps into the air with a splash of water, then throws the ball at the hoop, surrounded by a whirlpool.
  • River Dunk: Destin summons a swirling mass of water around her, then "swims" in a wavy path towards the hoop, before sending the water into the ball and slamming it in.

Anyway, as with all gods, he depends on faith in what he governs to survive, so if people stop caring about basketball, he'll lose strength. This is why he's arranged the basketball, to gather as much attention towards his sport as possible and keep on living!

  • Oceanic Dunk: Embrun summons a deluge that drowns the entire court, then channels divine power and makes a lunge for the hoop, slamming the ball in as usual. The water suddenly evaporates as soon as the points are scored, but everyone remains soaked.

BattleCat
Tricky

PONOSBattleCat.png

A somewhat mischievous and violent Cat, sent to the tournament as a representative of the Cat Army. It seems that it's fashionably late. While it looks adorable, this is certainly no ordinary Cat. It has no interest in winning, only staying in the tournament to gain enough information to open up the gateway to allow its brethren to invade. to let its brethren run loose. Some say it could be defeated by a mythical sword, but the Cat says otherwise. While it's small and pitiful at first, barely being able to hold the ball, do not underestimate this fanatical feline.

ABILITY:
Level-Up

BattleCat has an EXP Meter that will slowly raise the more it plays, becoming more powerful.

Level 3: BattleCat gains an axe. Its attack is now twice as effective.

Level 4: BattleCat replaces the axe with a sword and gains a shield. Its attack is now twice as fast, and it can take more hits before dropping the ball.

More often than not, he's had to fight against the evil Bowser to rescue Princess Peach, a typical afternoon for him and Luigi. After using this shot, Mario can use his Fireball move multiple times without a cooldown for the next five seconds before returning to normal.

Despite being an embassy of light, she isn't above immoral magic, up to and including sacrificing the life of her soldiers to boost her own strength. SPECIAL SHOTS:
  • Light Shot: Adora summons a ball of light that engulfs the ball and soars towards the hoop.
  • Light Dunk: Adora glows in light as the True Sun God appears behind her, blasting the ball with a elaborate range of light magic that completely obliterates the hoop. As expected from our easily-impressed referees, this display counts as a point, even though the hoop and ball must be replaced afterwards.

The only known mobile stadium of its kind, the stadium gently crosses the sea while the court remains perfectly balanced and still. What a marvel of engineering! GIMMICK: The court has no special gimmicks.

CURRENCY: Seashells

Mushroom KingdomSSBH Peach's Castle.png Let's-a-go! The denizens of the Mushroom Kingdom were perfectly happy to host a court, as their world is no stranger to sports. The all-natural court is located on the green plains the Kingdom is famous for, where mushroom hills and distant castles shine over floating Brick Blocks and Warp Pipes. Goombas, Koopas, Piranha Plants, and even the Koopalings are peacefully watching the match side by side with Toads, as if Bowser's influence was gone entirely. Watch out, though - the Bullet Bill cannons sure aren't!

GIMMICK: Lakitu holds the hoop on a fishing rod, and will move between each side depending on where the ball is. Additionally, Bullet Bills can be fired across the court, stunning players that get hit.

CURRENCY: Coins

Luigi's MansionLuigi's Mansion SSBL.jpg Despite the name, Luigi does not own this mansion. Under the leadership of King Boo, a legion of spectres and ghouls conjured up a delightfully spooky manor to lead the Mario Bros into a trap, even successfully capturing Mario himself. If it wasn't for Luigi's bravery, he might've been stuck there forever... despite disappearing into thin air afterwards, the ghosts seem to have brought the mansion back to host a court. They're still just as pesky, however, and they can't help but interfere with the match...

GIMMICK: Hard-to-see ghosts prowl the court, attacking players and stealing the ball for themselves. Attacking can keep them at bay.

CURRENCY: Coins

Just be careful when she makes the wind blow mid-match - even the fairy and tengu spectators aren't safe. So inconsiderate...

GIMMICK: Wind blows across the court periodically, pushing players to the left or right.

CURRENCY: Point Cards

It would be adivisable to not mess up any plays under GLaDOS' eye, as she watches and makes snide comments by the court.

GIMMICK: Edgeless Safety Cubes are dispensed across the court, acting like basketballs when picked up. If a player throws it into a sphere recepticle, 10 Currency will be awarded. Additionally, GLaDOS will commentate the game and make rude comments towards the players.

It's one of the most refined destinations for courts, with the managers insisting that players don't rough up the stage. Nor that they throw the ball into the audience.

GIMMICK: The stage will periodically flood, slowing players in the water. A series of "bridges" across the stage will float, allowing players to avoid the water.

CURRENCY: Pearls

Ice Cream FactoryKPR Ice Cream Factory.png A remnant of the once-mechanised Popstar, this sweet treat factory was curiously left standing after the defeat of Star Dream, and none of the residents are in any hurry to tear it down. Clearly, the tournament managers have a thing for ice cream, as the factory produces an endless supply for spectating Waddle Dees and giant ice cream snowmen. Not only is the temprature subzero, but the cones are so large that they're a danger to anyone standing beneath them. They're delicious all the same.

GIMMICK: The floor is frozen solid, letting players skate for a speed boost. In certain places on the court, giant ice cream cones will fall over and slow crushed players.

Aether ParadiseAether paradise.png A VLFS (very large floating structure) located in Alola, serving as the base of operations for the Aether Foundation's facilities. The foundation's aim was to help wild Pokemon, but their operations shifted when their president, Lusamine, started becoming obsessed with Ultra Beasts. In the depths of the Paradise, suspicious and dangerous Ultra Wormhole experiments are being carried out, which could effect the court on the bright Pokemon haven upstairs...

GIMMICK: Ultra Wormholes periodically spawn, summoning Ultra Beasts that disrupt the game:

  • Nihilego will stalk a player and will grab hold of them once close.
  • Buzzwole will attempt to charge across the court, launching players away.
  • Xurkitree will electrify the court, speeding up the players.
  • Kartana will chase the player holding the ball and defend them, attacking enemy players that get close.

CURRENCY: Pokedollars

Witch's KitchenCookie run kitchen.png A mysterious cottage home to your average witch; magic, potions and such. The court takes place in the kitchen, where many Cookies have been born from its oven... and met their end soon afterward, if they weren't lucky enough to escape. The witch's magic has caused all players to shrink down to Cookie size, with a baking tray serving as the court. The oven is still alight... hopefully, the teams aren't next to be cooked. Many Cookies have come to spectate this miniscule match, but the witch doesn't seem to mind their presence. Maybe she's a basketball fan herself?

GIMMICK: The oven door in the background of the stage periodically opens, sending cinders of fire raining down onto the stage.

CURRENCY: Jellies

The RoofRoof PvZ.jpg The house of a famous Suburbian gardener, now seemingly turned into a basketball court. It's unclear how the roof is big enough to support two basketball teams and all their spectators, but Surburbians clearly mean business when it comes to structural stability. Whether the person who lives here gave permission to host the court in the first place is unknown, as Crazy Dave signed off on their behalf. Zomboss' minions never stop their meddling, so watch out for Bungee Zombies from above!

GIMMICK: Bungee Zombies hanging above the court will grab players that stray near and drag them back to their team's hoop.

CURRENCY: Sun
