Gameplay[]

The gameplay remains relatively unchanged, with most content in a new engine and some new quality of life improvements like being able to hold 12 of each weapon type, armor piece, sparrow and ghost shell.

The rarity system is still the same and remains rather unchanged, with new guns being added on top of the already existing ones.

Every piece of content, every planet, every game mode, every raid, every dungeon, every playlist, every strike, every crucible map, is unvualted , meaning you can play it, with load times still being as fast as ever.

The first person shooter, 3rd person aspect hasn't changed.

Destinations[]

European Dead Zone The Original Destination and first one you unlocked if you played Destiny 2 when it came out. The European Dead Zone has ben changed slightly by darkness but the Shard of the Traveler still draws Taken to it. Still having 5 spawn points and a red Legion Base, this area is light on original content but retaining everything that it had and was given over time. The new original thing is an area north of the Sunken Isles, called Sojourner's Bay, with the Scorn being the enemies you face there. Introduced during The Red War (2017), Reintroduced during The Complete Edition (2027)
Titan Titan is bigger then it was when it initially came into the game, now teeming with the last remains of Savathun’s forces since The Witch Queen expansion. The default area is explroable, but now the full Solarium is as well, along with a new area correlating to the Gambit Map known as Deep Six. Introduced during The Red War (2017), Reintroduced during The Complete Edition (2027)
Nessus Nessus is the same size as it was when it was first introduced, with more fallen vestments and a new strike. You can explore a new area called the Plague Forest, a siva filled area featuring Splicers and Siva Vex. There is also more noticeable vexification on the outside. Introduced during The Red War (2017), Reintroduced during The Complete Edition (2027)
Io Io is a moon teeming with Dark Forces and the last vestiges of The Traveller’s energy.  The planet is remarkably changed by the darkness, featuring dark spires and a diminished Cradle area, along with a fully corrupted Tree of Silver Wings, and a new fortress of Light Worshipping Vex. Introduced during The Red War (2017), Reintroduced in Lightfall (2022), Reintroduced Again with the The Complete Edition (2027)
Merucry Mercury is a Vex Simulation planet that houses the Forest, and now for the first time, The Forest is fully explorable in Open World, and more of Mercury itself is explorable, leading to new strikes. The Darkness also changed the planet as well, having a well of dark radiolaria flow. Introduced during Curse of Osiris (2017), reintroduced during Dark Future (2025).
Braytech Futurescape Mars is the planet that houses the Warmind, and retains all previous content it had, while being able to go through a destroyed and desecrated Bray Futurescape and see the last vestiges of Xol’s Forces. Now Mars has it’s own Raid, dealing with a corrupted submind of Rasputin, as well as Hive corruption hitting apex in the planet itself. Introduced during Warmind (2018), Reintroduced during the Complete Edition (2027)
Tangled Shore The Tangled Shore is part of the reef that was desecrated by the Scorn during Foresaken. Now it is hollow but Spider’s last holding remain here and the lawless shore still bleeds. Taking on a one man crusade of the Tangled Shore is not easy. This place holds some of the most personal memories for the Guardian. Introduced during Forsaken (2018), Reintroduced during The Complete Edition.
The Dreaming City The Dreaming City was seen as a safe space for Awoken until The Taken War and It’s capture and it being cursed by Riven, the Last Ahamkara. Still featuring Curse content in the Game even though the loop is broken, all content is now available from the start and can be replayed. Not a ton of new content here besides another Strike. Introduced in  Forsaken (2018), Reintroduced during The Complete Edition (2027)
Moon The Moon, the grey marble gave rise a to massive Scarlet Keep and Darkness during The Shadowkeep expansion. The moon is still  teeming with the Hidden Swarm, Hive decked out in Red, and The Fallen House, House Exile, but now it has Taken as well, and now you can go inside the Pyramid in open world. Introduced during Shadowkeep (2019), Reintrodued during Final Stand (2026)
Europa Europa is an icy world that used to be a Golden Age colony and was home to a failed attempt at Fallen unity. Riis-Reborn still echoes the noise left behind from Eramis’s defeat in the Beyond Light expansion . Europa has some new content now, including a Darkness strike, Exo Challenge Playlist and A few more missions. Introduced during Beyond Light (2020), Reintroduced during Final Stand (2026)
The Cosmodrome The Cosmodrome was the first location in Destiny 1, and is here for the Destiny 2 New Light Experience. The first area you boot up when the game starts for the Free to Play players, all of The Destiny 1 cosmodrome is available to explore, the largest area in the game, including the Plaguelands, and even the Iron Temple, and a new area called Atlas Rising, with stronger Hive enemies. Introduced during Beyond Light (2020)
Old Chicago Old Chicago is the 3rd Earth destination, a more swampy marshy area with tons of skyscrapers to explore. It is home to Savathun’s Brood, Fallen scavengers and Taken colonies, like a small city made of darkness, along with a massive Golden Age vault.  2 Strikes, A raid, Ascendant Hunts and Intense Public events, Old Chicago is a place with a lot of content. Introduced during The Witch Queen (2021), Reintroduced during The Complete Edition (2027)
Venus Venus, another Destiny 1 planet, Venus is home to the Vault of Glass, A legendary area that is the headliner here as a Raid. However, more of the Isthar Sink is explorable then ever before and new content is flowing as well. Introduced during The Witch Queen (2021).
Cocytus Station Cocytus Station is a space station in control of the Nine and with portals to the Ascendant Plane and invested in by the Awoken. Cocytus was a small area but got bigger overtime via updates, having multiple strikes, an open world Sea of Screams and a mode called Throne Breakers, Introduced during Season of The Gone (2022).
The Nightspire The Nightspire is a very darkness inspired destination inside what looks like a massive Pyramid, The Nightspire is unique as a destination as it technically has every enemy race and no enemey races in the form of nightmares. This is a heavily shaded endgame destination when it came out but still has a ton of content. Introduced during Lightfall (2022).
Calisto Callisto is a a Planet with a deep watery mantle and ridges to fall through, with a jovian city with deep ties to the Nine, Calisto has an eerie aura around it. This destination has mainly Taken, Vex and Scorn. With a raid, Two Strikes, Challenges of One and 7 Lost sectors, this place has some content and Is one of the largest destinations in game. Introduced in Nonology (2023)
Meridian Bay Meridian Bay on Mars, is the Destiny 1 location for that Planet. A golden age city with a portal to the Black Garden, Taken, Vex and Cabal overflow this area. The Cabal’s Unified Legion poses ever quite the threat here, and needs to be taken care of. D1 Strikes, New Strikes, Public Events, there is quite a lot to do here. Introduced in the Game in Nonology (2023)
Trappist-1d Trappist-1d is the location of a colony of Humans that escaped the collapse in the Exodus Yellow, and survived an attack from Ghaul. This Earth-like planet feels familiar but different with waterfalls and a bustling city, along with a native Avian race, The Provoked, along with the Fallen and Cabal. There are some strikes, a new game mode called Cargo Defenders and a Raid. There is an effigy of the Traveller in the back-ground. Introduced in The Signal (2024)
Nereid Nereid is now a Hive Warmoon, with streaks of an old forgotten Weapons foundry, with streaks of Fallen who remain. It’s massive towering spires and hive cathedrals looking eerily like a Human city. Fallen and Vex also lurk in the shadow and are minor presences. It is known due to it’s time rift created by an Ascendant Hive from Exo’s Timeline. Introduced in Dark Future (2025)
The Giftmast The Giftmast is the remains of an old ship belonging to the Harmony. The Giftmast is filled with the Taken echoes of the Harmony and is fairly small, but still has a fair bit of content. Introduced in Season of Remnants (2026)
Rhea Rhea, a small Saturnian moon, home to great darkness but also a plane to godhood, ripe with the Light. Vex pulsate around it. Hive seek to take it. Cabal want to wield it. Fallen are fascinated by it. Rhea has new strikes, public events,a new mode called Godhood and Champions in the overworld. Introduced in Final Stand (2026)


Warlock Subclasses[]

Dawnblade Redesigned during the Nonology (2023) expansion, Solar has been reworked, now feeling more like the Darkness Subclasses. The main super here is Dawnblade that tracks opponents. However, you have 3 aspects to pick from. Icarus Dash is the first aspect you get, which allows you to dash through the air by swiftly pressing B, andyou can do this infitley during your super. Healing Grenade is the second aspect, and by holding your grenade in, it grants you an overshield when thrown. The Third aspect is a new aspect called Area Flare which has solar spots pop up on the ground where you last used your grenade, which act as mini healing rifts.
Voidwalker Redesigned during The Signal (2024) expansion, Void has been reworked, now feeling more like the Darkness Subclasses. The main super here is Nova Bomb, that tracks opponents. You have three aspects to pick from, Blink, is the first aspect you get, it is a short teleport that you do by holding A. Bloom, is the second aspect you get, it has enemies explode into void projectiles when you kill them with a melee. Handheld Supernova is the third aspect, with it, you charge your melee and then let it loose, firing a mini nova bomb that tracks
Stormcaller Redesigned during Dark Future (2025) expansion, Arc has been reworked to be more like the Darkness subclasses. The main super here is Stormcaller, which ahs lightning that bounces between foes. Arc Soul is the first aspect, when healing rift is casted, it grants an arc soul to everyone standing in it. Chain Spark is the second aspect, when you use a meele, it bounces arc energy between opponents. Pulsewave, when critical health, you release a pulsewave that grants all your teammates overshield.
