Lich Travenou is a character in Conatus and the first character created by PabloDePablo. He's the eighth character created for the game, and the eighth of the 10 free characters available.

Background[]

Travenou was once the ruler of a distant kingdom far from Grimnore, beloved by his subjects for both his fairness and tactical brilliance as a leader. After his death, his body was sent out to sea, somehow arriving in Grimnore, perhaps centuries later. A group of cultists attempted to revive the long-dead king and managed to succeed in converting him into a lich, intending on using him to spread their dark influence throughout the land; unfortunately for them, Travenou was still his old, good-natured self underneath his horrific new form and abandoned the cause immediately to explore the wilderness.

Appearance[]

Lich Travenou is a tall, lanky skeletal figure, with shadowy charred "skin" on a few areas such as his head and limbs. He wears a set of old metal armor over his hollow ribcage and on his legs, with a large horned skull mounted on his left shoulder as a pauldron. The upper half of his head is engulfed in a teal flame, with one eye visible through the fire. Two large metal horns seem to be merged into his head, jutting out at an angle and curving towards the top.

Personality[]

Lich Travenou is a jolly and optimistic man, despite his outward appearance. He sees his revival as a gift, even with the side effects, and hopes to make the most of his situation. Despite his friendly nature, Lich Travenou isn't much of a conversationalist, stumbling his way through most discussions.

Gameplay[]

Lich Travenou is a classic "slow, but powerful" archetype, featuring above-average health, decent vigor, and strong close-range attacks, but lacking speed and maneuverability. His defenses are somewhat lacking, but his massive health bar lets him act as a tank, especially against common enemies.

With his skills allowing him to leech off of nearby opponents and his short-range combat options, Lich Travenou's playstyle is built around enduring as long as possible between rests. The key to winning while playing as him is to avoid ranged opponents, prepare plenty of food as a backup, and to know when to use his leeching ability.

Traits[]

Name Description
Rest in Peace When resting, Lich Travenou buries himself in the ground, allowing him to sleep safely and stealthily.
Dead Veins Lich Travenou possesses above-average resistance to cold temperatures.
Strategist When aiming with a Ranged Weapon, Lich Travenou can see how much health and vigor his enemy has. This doesn't carry over when he stops aiming, however.
Shambling Lich Lich Travenou moves even slower than usual (3.5 mph) when low on health or vigor.
Decay Any weapons Lich Travenou acquires breaks faster than usual.

Skills[]

Name Description
Lich's Leech
Skill 1
Pressing the Skill 1 Button causes Lich Travenou to aim as if using a ranged weapon, a swirling green ball of fire in his palm. Releasing the button shoots a leech-like creature, which will latch onto enemies and drain their health and vigor slowly. Keeping the leech attached to a dead opponent will slowly start to damage Travenou, so recall it often.
Death's Chill
Skill 2
Holding down the Skill 2 button will cause Lich Travenou to enter a meditative pose, slowly removing the heat from a small area around him. If used for a few seconds, the area will become fatally cold; however, absorbing heat can also make Lich Travenou fatally hot.

Trivia[]

  • Lich Travenou was originally considered by PabloDePablo for his own project before deciding the concept would be a better fit in Conatus.
