Champions of Ascerth is a RPG game developed by Ghostrealm Studios for the Nintendo Switch, using their Quickfire Engine. It is the company's first original IP ever since they became one of Nintendo's second-party developers, and the first in the Ghostrealmverse.

Story[]

See here.

Gameplay[]

Champions of Ascerth is a real-time RPG revolving around the main character, Kaiden, and his various companions as he works to stop the krexxon invasion. Players will manage their party's various abilities as they explore the vast, open world in search of the tools necessary to save their world.

Character Stats[]

Each character has their own stats to manage. Stats increase whenever you level up.

Stat Description
HP Determines how many Hit Points the character has. When a character runs out of hit points, they are forced to leave the current fight until it ends, at which point they return with limited HP. HP is restored slowly over time, but healing spells and food restore more.
Strength/Agility/Intellect This stat has a different name depending on your character, with Kaiden and Ukoras using Strength, Orthesu and Grik using Agility, and Elina and Jogot using Intellect. This stat determines how much damage you deal, or in Jogot's case, how powerful your healing spells are.
Mobility Influences movement speed.
Luck Influences the quality of item drops.
Mana Only Elina and Jogot have this stat. It influences the size of your mana pool, as mana is needed to cast spells.
Critical Strike Determines how often an ability has a Critical Strike, which increases the damage or healing it does by 250%.
Haste Influences attack speed.

Combo Attacks[]

Combo Attacks are a special part of the game, utilized when two of your characters have a Combo Gauge filled up. Their effects can be quite devastating, but you need to build up Bond levels between your characters.

The World[]

Ascerth is massive, with multiple different environments to visit and monsters to fight. As the game progresses, so too will the krexxon invasion grow.

  • At the start of the game, krexxon scouts can be rarely seen, and only one at a time.
  • Later on, squads of scouts start appearing.
  • Eventually, krexxon bases start to appear around the world, rare in their presence.
  • The bases eventually start popping up in more locations.
  • By the climax of the game, krexxon ships will have landed on the ground, pouring out soldiers.

World Events[]

World Events occur thoughout Ascerth at random intervals, rewarding players who take a break from the main story. They can be things like killing a boss, having a treasure chest with rare items spawn, or a minigame. These events don't play a role in the story (though the items received can help), and are just there to provide more to do besides the main story.

Development Notes[]

  • The game will have the story fleshed out more as time goes on, along with character backstories. I'm just focused on worldbuilding first.
  • Gameplay, including every character's abilities, will also be fleshed out.
  • This is my first original project, so constructive criticism is appreciated.

Trivia[]

  • The game takes inspiration from many other universes and franchises, including, but not limited to, Zelda, Warcraft, Xenoblade, and many others.
