Cataquacks (also called Pihanas) are duck-like enemies that appear throughout the Mario series. They first appeared in Super Mario Sunshine, and later in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, where they were only seen at Peach Beach.
The Cataquacks eventually reappeared in Super Mario Galaxy, though not in Super Mario Galaxy 2. The latest game they have appeared in is Mario Kart Wii in Peach Beach as a Retro Course.
The name "Cataquack" is probably from a portmanteau of the English words "catapult", referring to what they do, and "quack", referring to their duck-like appearance.
Cataquacks come in two forms; blue Cataquacks, which are mostly harmless and only catapult you if you come near them, and red Cataquacks, which actively chase down enemies.

Koopa Kart series
Throughout the Koopa Kart series, Cataquacks have been absent. However, they are sceduled to appear in Koopa Kart 3D as heavy weight drivers.
Mario & Luigi: Sage Quest
Cataquacks appear as enemies in Mario & Luigi: Sage Quest, where they are fought in Sapphire Shore alongside Cheep Cheeps, Huckit Crabs, and Spinies. Cataquacks mostly come in two pairs, red and blue, Red Cataquacks being stronger than the Blue Cataquacks and having more attacks than them, though the latter gives more coins and EXP than the former, and have a chance of fleeing the battle, though this does not always work.
