Cat Mario (Japanese: ネコマリオ Neko Mario) is a form of Mario introduced in Super Mario 3D World. In this form, the player can run up walls and lunge towards enemies to scratch them with their claws. When running across ground, Cat Mario will dash on all fours, thus making him lower to the ground and harder for some enemies to hit. Cat Mario will also climb the Goal Pole up to the top once jumped on.
While Mario can usually enter this form by collecting a Super Bell, he can also do so by collecting a Lucky Bell. The form Mario transforms into via the latter, Lucky Cat Mario, allows Mario to also transform into a Lucky Cat statue and gain temporary invincibility akin to Statue Mario.
As of Bowser's Fury, there is a headcanon that Cat Daisy would be patterned after a calico cat, because the other kittens in Lake Lapcat match the playable characters' Cat forms, and calico fur would fit Daisy's color scheme.

Trophy Description[]
Cat Peach | |
---|---|
Though Princess Peach normally portrays herself as a dignified (and athletic) royal, that doesn't mean she doesn't like to have fun. In Super Mario 3D World, she joined Mario, Luigi, and Toad as they travelled through the Sprixie Kingdom to defeat Bowser and rescue the fairies. As one might expect, this new kingdom was home to a number of special power-ups, including the Super Bell, which would give any of the four heroes a cat costume to wear. This wasn't just for show though - the cat costume allowed Peach, the Mario Bros., and Toad to all perform claw attacks, an aerial dive attack, or climb walls. Y'know, all things a normal cat could do. |
Super Smash Bros. Bizarre Infinity[]
Cat Mario, Cat Luigi, Cat Peach, and Cat Rosalina all appear as playable characters in Super Smash Bros. Bizarre Infinity, although the later three are Echo Fighters of Cat Mario, who has a unique moveset to himself. They must all be unlocked randomly, as they appear in the first Unlockable Wave.
Mario Hoops 3-On-3 Switch[]
Cat Mario appears as a costume for Mario in Mario Hoops 3-On-3 Switch. When selecting the character hold down the left control stick to the right to turn Mario into Cat Mario. Cat Bowser also appears as a costume for Bowser (Hold downwards to turn him into Cat Bowser).
