A Black Shell in Mario Kart Insanity.
The Black Shell is an item created specifically for Mario Kart. It acts like a Green Shell by travelling in a straight line and bouncing off walls, but it explodes upon impact, similar to a Blue Spiny Shell. Its counterpart is the Gold Shell, which explodes, but acts like a Red Shell by targeting the nearest racer ahead of the user.

The Black Shell is Fire Bro's Special Item in Mario Kart: Interstate 93, It can be obtained from 4th - 9th place, When Used, It will act like a Green Shell by travelling in a straight line and bouncing off walls, but it explodes upon impact, similar to a Blue Spiny Shell, And A Rainbow Shell.
