Alvis is a supporting character in Xenoblade Chronicles and is an Divine Seer for the High Entia. He joins Shulk and the party along the adventure, although his motives never seem quite clear.
History[]
Xenoblade Chronicles[]
Alvis is a vital character in Xenoblade Chronicles and is first introduced in the Makna Forest where he encounters Shulk by the river. Alvis is revealed to perfectly wield the Monado and a linkage to the mysterious blade. He later appears to be employed by the High Entia as a royal seer- although this seems to be a ploy to watch and protect Shulk under Zanza's orders. As the game goes on, Alvis' hom exterior is revealed to be a sham- he is in fact a computer of sorts that created the world from scratch. Zanza had access to him, although Shulk later takes control and Zanza is destroyed as Shulk revamps the world.
Xenoblade Chronicles: Future Connected[]
It's safe to say this guy is probably involved in this.
Description[]
Physical Appearance[]
Alvis is a Homs with tan skin and shoulder length silver hair. He has a pair of silver eyes. His outfit is a purple top under a white waistcoat with gold buttons, with a purple jacket under that with a grey fur collar and silver buttons. There is a symbol on the back consisting of a triangle with circles in each corner. He also wears purple trousers and white boots with gray soles that attach around his waist.
What's around his neck depends on what version of Xenoblade Chronicles you're playing. In the original game it was a black choker with a golden key. In Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, his key instead replaced with a red crystal that resembles a Aegis core from Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
Personality[]
Alvis is a mysterious character who is hard to grasp on the surface, but as you go further into Xenoblade Chronicles, Alvis appears to be more like a computer. He offers choices but does not exactly chose his own fate or show free will. He bends to the will of whoever is willing to wield the Monado and to shape the universe. He was told by Zanza to seek out Shulk to protect him so that Zanza could use Shulk.
Alvis' allegiance is with whoever he considers one of users. Shulk was able to figure out how to take control more or less of Alvis, the Monado, and the ether of the universe to reshape it to defeat Zanza and reconstruct the universe in a more positive direction.
Alvis' predictions also feed into the idea of him being a computer- the futures he shows are merely possibilities of what might happen on the course of the timeline, but fate can still be changed. He only offers to help Shulk because he was ordered to and he did not help anyone else. He is largely disconnected from the world he inhabits because he helped create it and sees it in a completely different perspective than anyone else.
Alvis cannot make decisions, only offer them.

Alvis possesses a white Monado that is based off the front cover of Xenoblade: The Secret File. Alvis differs from Shulk in that he has evasive abilities and a new Monado Art called Monado Purge that replaces Monado Eater that transforms some of his attacks into projectiles.
