“Uhm -- I -- I want to do for others -- -- what was done for me. I want to offer men and women who've made mistakes the same chance... the same hope I got. I guess that means... ... I'm starting up the Thunderbolts again!”
Abner "Abe" Jenkins is an intellectually gifted mechanic who felt like he fell into a rut with his life and initially decided to turn to crime, becoming the supervillain known as the Beetle. After years of supervillainy, he was approached by Barom Helmut Zemo to join his Masters of Evil team, with a plan to pose as superheroes to gain the public's trust as part of a plan to take over the world. Accepting, Abe became Mach-I, a member of the "new team of superheroes" called the Thunderbolts. However, he soon came to cherish the adoration gained by his super heroics, as well as realizing the fact that it felt much better being a hero than a villain, a view shared other members of the Thunderbolts. Betraying Zemo, Abe fully reformed himself and became a genuine hero, continuously upgrading his wing harness to greater successive numbers over the years that followed.
Abe appears as an unlockable playable character in this crossover between Lego Batman (hence the title) and Lego Marvel, with both his Beetle & Mach-I personas as alternate skins.
