Quetz: Taking Off (tentative title)
Story
After the defeat of Naga, the Crypta Archipelago enjoyed an era of relative peace. Quetz's magical powers were taken away from her from an Elder Harpie, who found them to be unnecessary during peaceful times. Quetz spent time improving her athletic skills, seeking to become a competitor in races. However, unbeknownst to the general population, the Elder Harpie spent time attempting to seal off for good a creature that lives underneath the main island, the Kinich. Centuries ago, it roamed the once unified island until the Harpies of the time fought to stop it. They couldn't defeat it, only temporarily seal it away. With the island being broken into parts, forming other smaller islands, the seal got weaker. With time running out, the Elder one seeked to finish it off for good, by utilizing the Kisin Stones which grants supernatural power to the wielder, allowing them to do unimaginable things. The Kinich manages to break out of the seal during the ritual and the Elder is defeated. The Kisin Stones flies off, hidden through out the archipelago.
The Elder is found half conscious on the main land, which attracted the population of the island. In her final moments, the Elder tells the people about Kinich and that the Kisin Stones are the only things that can stop Kinich. Leaving off a note on how to find the stones, the Elder passes away. The people are shocked of what they heard but few stand up to take on the task. Time passes by and those ones are presumed to be missing. Quetz stands up and decides to take matters into her own hands as she bravely ventures forward to find the stones and stop Kisin.
Gameplay
The gameplay of Quetz: Taking Off retains the Kirby elements of the original, although it has major differences. For one, it is not a linear game, but instead a platformer Metroidvania, ala Shantae. Quetz starts with her basic melee and Harpy Shot abilities, although like in the original, she can acquire more with the help of Scrolls. Scrolls are mapped to certain button combinations, ala Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and they are divided in three categories: Offense, Support and Special. Offense Scrolls are pretty self-explanatory, although this time, they are limited by a magic bar, which refills over time, Support Scrolls are usually movement/defensive related and they don't require the use of a magic bar and Special Scrolls are passive abilities that don't require a button input in order to be used, they do their thing while the player progresses.
A new feature is the Partner System. Throught out her journey, Quetz will find the others that took on the mission before her, this time they were captured by forces corrupted by Kinich. Freeing them makes them a partner. The partner system is similar to the Animal Friend system of Kirby's Dream Land 2 and the Helper system of Kirby's Super Star. Like Animal Friends, Partners allows the player to go through certain sections easier or to reach places where they wouldn't be able to get normally. Like Helpers, they are controlled by the A.I. or a second player and can perform actions on their own, but they also have their own health bar, of which if depletes, can only be restored in an Inn.
In each stage, there are Magical Medallions hidden. Those can be acquired by clever use of partner skills or clever use of scrolls. Those Magical Medallions awards the player with better scrolls that can be purchased in the Sorcerer's Guild in the main island. Players can acquire Rare Scrolls, which cannot be bought or found normally, by gaining a Gold Medal in Boss Battles, which require the boss to be defeated under a certain time limit.
The game has a level up system, which fills up by defeating enemies, bosses and completing side quests. The level ups can increase Quetz's health, melee power, shot power or magic refill rate. Additionally, Quetz's melee and Harpy Shot abilities were expanded upon, Quetz can learn more melee skills and combos at the Dojo and the Harpy Shot can be modified to the player's liking in the Harpy Academy, all of those located in the Main Island.
The player can quicktravel from one location from another by locating that place's Flightpoint. From there, the player can easily visit another region. As previously mentioned, there is side quests, which are optional, but awards the player with experience.

Athena Hawkins wrote:
i'm sure that you said it before, but where does your username come from?
Homestuck. As you can see in this terrible January 8, 2014 version of my userpage, I used to be addicted to it. Originally my first username on this accont was ShoutmonX something, which was named after a Digimon but I replaced with the newer one, basically there was this thing in Homestuck where the characters would talk through a fake chat handler called chumhandle and their account names started with their initals. So, I found a chumhandle generator put my first two initals on it (fun fact: i have three surnames) and boom there was the chumhandle vectorDestiny. Wikia didn't allowed the lowercase name, so I put a dot before it and that's how I started the cool lowercase username trend.
Athena Hawkins wrote:
Any projects before 2014 that you would want to reinvent and try again?
Oh jeez, before 2014? Now that's a timeframe that I don't remember a lot of. The one that I'm more aware of at the moment is Secret of the Keyhole, which was as bad as the title. I always wanted to bring back or do an investigation mystery but I succ at doing those so that's a non-starter. Another one that I remember was Silver the Hedgehog, which I'm planning to bring back as part of the Sonic Blur series when I have the time. But yeah, most of my pre-2014 stuff is forgetable and belongs in the tresh.
Athena Hawkins wrote:
So what are your favorite memes my dude
Touché.
We Are Number One because there were some genuinely great ones that were amazing to hear. Also Jojokes in general, but I can understand how those can be obnoxious to the people not aware of it. Now We Are Number One and Jojokes, now that's a match Made in Heaven,,, /jojoke

Athena Hawkins wrote:
Outside of the main series (like Sonic 1 to Project Sonic '17), what do you think is the best Sonic the Hegehog title? And why?
Sonic Advance 3. It perfectly combines good level design with the speed the Advance series was known so far. Previous games were way too fat and the level design was pretty ground level but 3 had a lot of better improvements on level design and truly brings out the best of the series.
